Uppingham School are looking for a committed, experienced and passionate Deputy Grounds Manager to join our busy, close-knit Grounds Team, specialising in cricket and other sports surfaces.

Founded in 1584, Uppingham is one of Britain’s leading co-educational independent boarding schools. Games and a full sporting curriculum form an integral part of school life at Uppingham. The playing fields and sports facilities cover approximately 56 acres over three sites and cater for multiple sporting activities throughout the whole year.

As Deputy Grounds Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the School grounds, associated sports facilities and pitches, including multiple natural and artificial playing surfaces and helping to lead, develop and mentor a team of grounds employees to deliver high standards of performance, excellent customer service, and a proactive approach to all elements of work.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable groundsperson, with extensive experience in cricket surface provision and management and a good knowledge of sporting surfaces, both natural and artificial. A NVQ Level 3 Sports Turf Maintenance or equivalent is also required as is an understanding of relevant health & safety legislation.
