Good Luck Message For Atletico Madrid-Bound Groundsman

Eddie Howe’s good luck message for Atletico Madrid-bound groundsman Dan Gonzalez: Cherries boss Eddie Howe saluted Dan Gonzalez ahead of the groundsman’s big move – to Atletico Madrid.

Gonzalez, who has played his part in making the Vitality Stadium surface one of the best in the Premier League, is to become head groundsman for the Spanish giants.

Howe said: “I think it’s a sign of his work and what he has done for us, so good luck to him.”

Good Luck Message For Atletico Madrid-Bound Groundsman

Gonzalez, who is half-Spanish, will be given responsibility for Atletico’s playing surface in their spectacular new 67,000-seater stadium, Wanda Metropolitano.

When he begins his new role in the coming weeks, both major Madrid clubs will employ British groundsmen.

Paul Burgess is in charge at Real Madrid having moved there from Arsenal, where he had input into the design of Emirates Stadium.

Gonzalez is a key member of the groundstaff which works under the watchful eye of head groundsman Robin Wilcox.

The exemplary surface has helped Cherries’ players to carry out the attractive passing game which boss Howe has always favoured.

And soon the likes of Atletico stars Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres will hope to benefit from the expertise of Gonzalez.

Atletico are currently fourth in La Liga with just Barcelona, Valencia and Real Madrid above them.
