West Warwickshire Sports Club is a prestigious and multi sports venue offering a wide range of sports facilities and extensive food and beverage operation. We have a well equipped gym, squash courts, Astro pitch and Cricket Pitch.


The successful candidate will ensure that  grounds and external sports facilities are appropriately maintained and ready for use, meeting the needs of a busy sports facility.  The Grounds Person will be aware of the various uses of the facilities at different times of the year giving particular attention to cricket squares;  they will also be able to carry out general grounds work and manual tasks.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals who can work individually and as part of a team.  The successful candidate will have a recognised Groundskeeping qualification and relevant experience from a variety of environments.

Essential requirements:

  • Proven grounds experience along with a recognised grounds man qualification (ideally level 3 Sports and Turf or minimum of level 2)
  • Spraying licence desirable but not essential
  • Licence able to drive tractors
  • Use of mechanical equipment – Dennis Lawn Mower, 3 Ton Roller, Rotary Mower, Tractor, Astro brushes, Strimmers and Hedge Cutters
  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations
  • Sports Surface Maintenance – Cricket – Full field cutting, square and wicket preparation, fertilising, line marking and understanding of weather dependent requirements
  • Sports Surface Maintenance – Astro and Tennis – brushing of courts, replacement of nets
  • To be self motivated and  able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Upkeep of the horticultural areas such as banks, hedges, borders and pots
  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness around the venue litter picking and rubbish removal
  • To report regularly to the General Manager on progress of work
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the Complex
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable requirements:

  • A background working in a similar type venue with
  • Understanding of all sports at the venue
  • Health and Safety qualification
  • A good knowledge of general maintenance work
