Foley United’s NEW Range Of Grinders

Foley United’s NEW Range of grinders offers a sharpening solution for every budget and every method: Foley United is upping the game by adding three new grinders to their range, with 6 models to cater for every method regardless of budget, including the addition of their first spin only grinder in the Accu Spin 622.

A mission to offer a machine for every budget has seen Foley United raise the minimum expectation for grinders on the market by following their own in-house standards of Good. Better. Best. This follows the principle that sharpening cylinders through spin only grinding is Good, sharpening cylinders and removing taper is Better, and sharpening cylinders, removing taper and adding relief to OEM spec is Best.

Foley United’s NEW Range Of Grinders

Foley United is advancing spin grinding to a new level of speed, simplicity and unmatched performance. The new ACCU-Spin 622 series is packed with design features only available from Foley United. The Patented Rear Roller Mounting System locates the reel by the rear roller, minimising issues that can arise when locating the reel by the front roller and is standard on all Foley United table top reel grinders. The Live Shaft Spin Hub design effectively and efficiently produces a sharp edge in a shorter time.

A huge benefit of the new 622 series is that all the features from the SG and SGR models can be added to the base unit as an aftermarket purchase, if and when they are wanted. These features include the L.E.D Gauging that gives the operator an easy visual adjustment process ensuring the removal of taper and a perfect cylindrical grind every time.

Also available is the Auto-Index Relief Assembly. This has long been recognised as a labour free system that allows hands-free blade to blade indexing, making the final step to returning reels to OEM specs a simple, effortless process.

This trio of reel grinders all provide a high level of health and safety with the machine doors greatly reducing noise during grinding whilst simultaneously reducing any risks to health by preventing exposure to dust and vibration.

For Ian Robson, managing director at Foley’s UK distributor, ProSport UK, the introduction of the new machines has given his customers a far greater choice when it comes to finding a grinder to match their needs and budget.

“I think the most important thing about the new 622 series is the minimum standards have been raised,” Ian said. “Spin only grinding has been popular for a long time and whilst Foley are big advocates of relief grinding they now provide the best professional spin grinder on the market.

“Allowing customers the option to add to the base model gives greater flexibility in terms of budgets and grinding requirements. There’s already been a lot of positive feedback about that as we now offer even greater choice, with more Foley models for every budget and every grinding method.”

Joining the new machines is the economical but full featured ACCU-Sharp 618 precision reel grinder. With the ability to do touch-up spin but also perform gauging and relief grinding as well as an optional bed-knife grinding attachment. The 618 is the perfect entry level grinder and is the ideal choice for operators with a limited budget or smaller operations that perform limited grinding or as an alternative to purchasing used equipment with a starting price from as little as £15,750.

The final addition is the ACCU-Pro 661 AT/MT bed-knife.  Like the 618 it has all the features required of a professional grinder but at a lower price point.  Two versions are available the AT (automatic traverse) and the MT (manual traverse).

Time To Stock Up!

Time To Stock Up! With 10% off Toro Titan Tines. Throughout March, Reesink Turfcare customers can get 10% off Toro Titan Tines… And it’s not just Reesink Turfcare offering you more, Toro Titan Tines do too.

More choice
There are over 150 Toro Titan Tines available covering all possible aeration applications. Whether you’ll be coring, slicing or spiking, hollow, solid or deep tining, or using water injection cultivation or ‘linear’ aeration, there’s a Titan Tine for every need.

Plus, all Titan Tines fit current and late model Toro aerators and the standard mount size fits lots of other manufacturer aerators, too.

More longevity, more productivity
Toro’s Titan Tines are the longest-lasting on the market, thanks to their robust tungsten-carbide-blend tip, lasting up to four times longer than standard tines. And because they last longer, it means fewer replacements and less change-outs are needed leading to greater productivity.

More strength
Toro tines are made by combining a strong alloy with a unique heat treatment process resulting in a finished product that provides maximum strength and resistance to wear.

More play
Toro’s ultra-durable Titan Tines are the turf professional’s secret weapon when it comes to achieving precise, concise holes for faster recovery and a smoother finish. Clean-cut holes are important for a speedy recovery and the best way to ensure the speediest of recoveries is with tines that boast sharp edges and smooth sides. Michael Hampton, turfcare parts manager at Reesink Turfcare, says: “Toro tines are designed to produce precise consistent holes for fast turf recovery, a smooth finish and quick return to play.”

More reliable
Timing is vital when it comes to aeration – you’ll likely know when that is for your surfaces – and it is important not to be let down in the middle of the aeration programme. The tough design of Toro tines, including durable brazed tip joints that ensure a strong bond with in-built resistance to separation and breakage, importantly help maintain consistent aeration depths and reduces costly change-out and associated downtime.

More service
When you need new tines, you get second-to-none parts back up with Reesink Turfcare. Reesink currently holds 15,000 Toro items available for delivery at 24 hours’ notice pretty much anywhere in the UK and 12,000 fast-moving lines are housed at the European distribution centre in Belgium with 48-hour availability. If all else fails, a 72-hour trans-Atlantic airfreight service comes into action calling on parts held at Toro’s Minneapolis manufacturing base. This is all at no extra cost to the customer and ensures downtime is kept to a minimum.

Offer ends 31 March 2018. To stock up on Titan Tines or for more aeration advice, customers can get in touch with their local genuine Toro parts dealer or service centre.

Complementing the existing 1200A model, the newly styled 1200H version offers the additional benefit of a hydrostatic transmission. Trilo Saves The Day!

Trilo saves the day! Mike Herring, Head Groundsman at Berkhamsted School, and his team have their work cut out maintaining over 40 acres of grounds and sports facilities over six schools, on five separate sites, across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Founded by the then Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral in 1541, the school has a vast history in offering quality education and care for children up to 18 years old. Equally, for many years Trilo equipment has become renowned for making light work of fallen leaves – collecting them whilst also keeping surface disruption to a minimum.

“We offer facilities for a range of both winter and summer sports – rugby, football, cricket, athletics and lacrosse play a big part in the curricular and extra-curricular life of our students” explains Mike who has worked at Berkhamsted School for 38 years. “Across the sites, the number of mature trees pose us problems at certain times of the year, so we looked at various options to make the job of leaf collection easier and more efficient.” Having read up about the Trilo range of blowers and collectors, as well as seeing them at trade shows, Mike had a demonstration of a BL960 and S4 in the summer of 2017.

Trilo Sorts Fallen Leaves Problem

“I was instantly impressed with the build quality of the machines, they’re well engineered and straight forward to operate and both perform very well. Having taken delivery of the units in September, they were straight out into the field for a busy autumn. One of our sites is completely surrounded by trees so we got out with the BL960 to blow the leaves to the perimeter of the pitches before using the S4 to collect them in one or two passes. This saves us driving a heavier unit across a surface multiple times thereby causing issues with compaction and drainage.”

Throughout the process, support was provided by Jeremy Vincent of Trilo as well as Mark House from local dealer Ernest Doe. “All the help we’ve had from Jeremy, right through from demonstration to installation, has been excellent – everything was explained fully and the training was thorough. We also have the benefit of back up support from Ernest Doe which for us as a small team is invaluable.”

GreenMech’s Versatile Chipper

GreenMech’s Versatile Chipper: Kevin Patton, Tree Surgeon, purchased his first woodchipper back in 2002 and has a few different makes and models in his fleet. However, he faced a major challenge when it came to purchasing new equipment for him and his team of 4 – towing capacity.

To satisfy the company’s requirement for a powerful, versatile, but lightweight chipper, they turned to GreenMech and their sub 750kg QuadChip 160.

GreenMech's Versatile Chipper

Established in 1999, the company carries out a wide array of tree work and woodland management for a range of customers in the Guisborough area.  “Our work is very diverse – a pretty even split between commercial and domestic jobs, both large and small projects. Because of the range of work and material we handle we needed something that the lads could take out, without myself always being there to supervise” explains Kevin.

After seeing the GreenMech machines at various trade shows, and having one on demonstration, they settled on the QuadChip 160. The sub 750kg QuadChip160 features a full 360o turntable allowing definitive infeed chute positioning for convenient and safe loading at the kerb-side or in restricted spaces. “Having a turntable is essential for us, it makes the machine versatile to suit whatever situation it’s in. We were also particularly impressed with the fact it’s fitted with a drop chute for more convenient storage and the new health & safety bottom bar which cemented my decision to purchase one.”

Since they took delivery of the QuadChip from local dealer Lloyd Ltd, Kevin estimates it’s taken on over 70% of their work. “With this machine, the lighter weight certainly doesn’t mean less power. It ticks so many boxes for us – as well as it complying to towing regulations, it’s user friendly, the infeed hopper has no sharp edges ensuring a smoother intake of material and it’s braked, which you don’t always find. The guys are out using it on almost a daily basis with no grumbles – so for me it’s been a great addition to our fleet.”
