Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club is seeking a part-time groundskeeper to maintain our six grass courts and five hard courts.
Part-Time/Freelance Groundskeeper
Key responsibilities
Grass courts
- Grass cutting, rolling, weeding, watering, fertilising, seeding as needed.
- Line marking.
Hard courts
- Court preparation, minor repairs, leaf blowing, court cleaning and general maintenance.
Grounds
- General maintenance, hedge trimming, weed control
Requirements
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, preferably in turf management (experience with grass courts, bowling greens, cricket, or golf courses is beneficial)
- Strong mechanical skills for operating and maintaining equipment
- Competency in using hand and power tools safely
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physical stamina for tasks such as mowing, lifting, and prolonged standing
- Attention to detail to uphold high standards
- Good communication skills for teamwork and reporting
Role Details
- Working 4 or 5 mornings each week (hours vary seasonally)
- Pay rate: £15 per hour
- Benefits include free Adult or Family club membership and free parking
- Start date: As soon as possible, on a rolling one-year contract
