INFINICUT Set To Showcase SM34

INFINICUT Set To Showcase SM34: Visitors to stand H075 at SALTEX will be some of the first to see the brand new SM34 Rotary Mower from INFINICUT®.

Swiftly settling into the INFINICUT® stable alongside the renowned range of fixed and floating head cylinder mowers, the SM34 has set a new industry standard for rotary cut quality. There will also be the opportunity to learn all about the new machine in the Eco Village demonstration area.

INFINICUT Set To Showcase SM34

Offering best in class performance with an emphasis on a modern, clean power source, the SM34 can be used to mow in the traditional sense or, alternatively, it can operate as a stand-alone vacuum. It takes its mode of traction from the INFINICUT® reel mower, paired with a deck constructed using MTD’s state-of-the-art stamp tooling equipment and years of rotary experience. The result is a technologically advanced unit that exceeds all necessary safety compliance that is demanded of rotary decks.

Incorporating both a front roller and rear traction roller means the SM34 delivers a striping effect usually only achieved with a professional reel mower, no matter the turf conditions. In line with the rest of the INFINICUT® fleet, it offers the operator a number of parameters which can be tailored to their particular requirements, including paralleling and deck pitch adjustment features as standard. It is also user programmable via the proprietary Android or iOS InfiniApp®.

The new Rotary mower is a natural progression from the renowned cylinder mower range which will also be on show. Available in a variety of working widths from 22” to 34”, the INFINICUT® FX and FL have become well-known for industry leading cut quality, striping and quiet operation thanks to the lithium battery power source. The environmental credentials of the range sees INFINICUT® demonstrating in the new SALTEX Eco Village at 11:00am and 2:00pm on both Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st.

DLF’s Wildflower And Winter Mixtures

DLF’s Wildflower And Winter Mixtures: Sports, Lawn and Wildflower seed will all be under the spotlight as DLF Seeds return to SALTEX.

The technical team will be on hand to provide mixture advice across the Johnsons Sports Seed and Masterline ranges, but also, visitors to stand J100 will have the chance to win innovative tools for effective on-the-spot overseeding, worth over £600!

DLF's Wildflower And Winter Mixtures

With sustainability and ecology still very much on the agenda for golf courses and those managing green spaces, the DLF Pro Flora wildflower range has been extended with the addition of 3 Colour Boost mixtures. Designed to deliver maximum colour, diversity and interest, the Colour Boost collection incorporates native wildflowers and garden flowering species to deliver a dazzling floral display throughout the year, whilst providing welcome food and shelter for a variety of wildlife.

With winter approaching, the importance of regular overseeding cannot be over-emphasised – essential for sward development, overseeding improves turf quality and can reduce maintenance costs over the long term. DLF’s new turf type tetraploids are ideal for winter overseeding, bred for rapid germination and establishment even under low soil temperatures. These 4Turf tetraploids develop a stronger and deeper rooting system which also improves the efficiency in which nutrients, including Nitrogen, are utilised. Incorporated into Johnsons Sports Seed mixtures including J 4Turf and J Rescue Stadia, the qualities of 4Turf make it suitable for autumn/winter programmes for football, rugby, golf tees, polo and racecourses.

To help make the overseeding process more efficient and effective, DLF have teamed up with ForthRoots to give visitors to SALTEX the chance to win both the new RyeSeeder and MultiTool. For precision overseeding, the RyeSeeder features interchangeable tine options that are designed to fit perfectly into the scars left following matches or training, to create the perfect bed for placement of recovery seeding. With double the tines, the ForthRoots MultiTool is ideal for larger areas – eliminating the need for tractor mounted-overseeding during the playing season.

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX: After launching to much acclaim earlier in the year, the OxyShot will be taking centre-stage on the Charterhouse Turf Machinery stand at SALTEX 2019.

Suitable for use on a variety of sports surfaces, visitors to stand K070 will see how the air-injection unit can relieve compaction, improve drainage and revitalise growth without the need for chemical applications.

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX

The OxyShot uses a single 25mm probe to inject air into the soil in four directions, at a pressure of up to 110psi and to a maximum depth of 500mm (20”). It can also be fitted with an optional 14mm probe, to reduce the working depth to 250mm. Perfect for ‘on the spot’ treatments, the highly manoeuvrable unit can be easily transported for use in a variety of situations – from golf course walkways to goal mouths, tennis baselines and sports pitch touchlines. It can also be used for arboricultural operations, to deliver aeration to tree roots growing in compacted, air-starved soils.

The Charterhouse team will also be on hand to discuss the many new and future developments from the Redexim stable, including the newly re-modelled Speed-Seed range. Together with an updated livery, the popular dimple-seeder range has been extended to feature four new working widths – 1.1m, 1.5m, 2m and 2.3m.

For situations where drill lines need to be avoided, the Speed-Seed range is a popular choice. A spiked sarel roller creates 940 holes per m2, with a rear brush then sweeping the delivered seed into the mass of holes leaving a groomed finish in its wake. An optional second roller can be fitted to double the number of holes created. With model sizes to suit a variety of environments, the Speed-Seed range is ideal for overseeding large or small areas, quickly and with ease.

Issues Tackled At Learning LIVE

Issues Tackled At Learning LIVE: A number of key industry experts will be uniting to collaboratively tackle the biggest issues facing the groundscare environment at SALTEX 2019, which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on October 30 and 31.

Learning LIVE, SALTEX’s all-encompassing and free-to-attend education programme will take place in four dedicated seminar theatres with presentations and panel debates running from 10am through to 3.30pm each day of the show.

Issues Tackled At Learning LIVE

Featuring over 50 CPD accredited seminars involving more than 100 expert speakers, the programme has been developed by leading industry partners and influencers to provide support, insight and real solutions to key industry issues.

Learning LIVE will kickstart with ‘Creating Champions’ telling the story of grounds staff’s contribution to this summer’s biggest weekend of sporting success. A spectacular line-up, including Neil Stubley (AELTC, Wimbledon) and Karl McDermott (Lord’s), will explain how to deliver exceptional surfaces for the world’s most prestigious sports events.

Findings from the IOG’s recent research document Groundsmanship – Sports’ Vital Profession will be presented by the IOG’s CEO Geoff Webb and consultant research lead, Carol Doran. Meanwhile, football grounds personnel can enjoy a rare opportunity to sit in on the ‘Tottenham Hotspur FC Experience’ seminar. Head groundsman Gary Lee reveals how the state-of-the art 62,000-capacity stadium pitches were built.

From Premiership to grassroots groundsmanship, there’s something for everyone at Learning LIVE. Pitch advisors from the IOG-led Grounds and Natural Turf Improvement Programme (GaNTIP) will be presenting case studies of successful pitch improvements, and also offering advice on how to secure funding.

In the ‘Class Acts’ seminar Ian Avery (Sutton Valence School) explores how independent schools can balance internal and external demands on their pitches. Ian will focus on costings, timings and benefits to the school, plus the problems, and solutions, of quick turnarounds on multi-sport pitches. Giles Roberts (St Peter’s School), Lee Marshallsay (Charterhouse) and Danny Beckley (Harrow School) will also be discussing best practices to help your pitches stand out in a competitive market.

Recent regulations relating to plant protection products (PPP) have had a significant impact on turf management, and Learning LIVE attendees can expect to find answers in a seminar entitled ‘Pesticide 2020 and Beyond’. With a number of widely used insecticides, fungicides and herbicides having been withdrawn in recent times, Dr Colin Mumford (Bayer) will be on hand to explain the current status of PPP, what PPP are being withdrawn or introduced, and how to get optimum results from them.

Cricket grounds personnel can find out about ongoing research carried out by First Class Counties and England’s Centre of Excellence, and an elite panel, featuring Andy McKay (Sussex CCC) Gary Barwell (Warwickshire CCC) and Will Relf (Loughborough University), will be explaining how hybrid pitches in cricket are learning lessons from football. Industry legend Chris Wood, the ECB’s international pitches consultant, is set to captivate the audience with his stories as he looks back through his career in ‘A Lifetime in Groundsmanship’.

Elsewhere, climatologist Jim Dale is presenting ‘Managing Climate Change’ to ensure turf professionals stay one step ahead; ICL’s Dr Andy Owen and PhD student at Royal Holloway University, Tamsin Williams, offer an insight into their four-year research project on the effects of seaweed products on turf grass plant parasitic nematodes; industry consultant Peter Corbett discusses ‘Life Without Propiconazole’; and Question Time with the Amenity Forum will no doubt spark a lively debate around the use of pesticides and their alternatives.

This is just a snapshot of sessions available at this year’s show. Go to www.iogsaltex.com where you will soon be able to check out the full programme, register your visit to SALTEX and book into your preferred sessions to avoid the queues.
