LockStar label update granted in Ireland

LockStar label update granted in Ireland: ICL customers in Ireland can look forward to more effective and flexible weed control after LockStar, a residual herbicide, was granted a label update.

The label update in Ireland follows shortly after being given the same stamp of approval in the UK.

Customers can now apply LockStar all-year round instead of the previous limited window of between February and June. This will provide contractors and grounds managers with the opportunity to adapt their approach and give them greater control over weed growth.

Previously, LockStar could only be used on natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation. However, the new label update grants the use of the product on amenity vegetation (around). This will allow for the herbicide to be applied in a wider range of situations and be used in more areas such as around the base of shrubs, trees, plants and other amenity areas.

LockStar controls a broad spectrum of weeds for up to four months and allows for professional and safe weed control. The innovative formula contains diflufenican and iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium – which is the first new weed control active ingredient to be released in the Republic of Ireland for many years.

When applied before germination LockStar creates a dual barrier at the soil surface which keeps weeds at bay. To control weeds that are already present, LockStar should be tank-mixed with glyphosate or a fatty acid.

LockStar, available in a 500g pack, uses the latest generation of water dispersible granules, which means the product quickly dissolves in water and remains stable in the spray tank for a minimum of 24 hours.

Compared to conventional weed management programmes, LockStar keeps surfaces clean and weed-free for longer, as well as reducing the number of applications and amounts of herbicide required.

LockStar should be applied at a rate of 500g/ha with just a single application required per season.

Pressure washer attachment for Bobcat loaders

Pressure washer attachment for Bobcat loaders: Bobcat has launched the new Pressure Washer Attachment for Bobcat loaders, joining the Bobcat family of over 100 different kinds of original attachments. Bobcat is the world’s first manufacturer to offer this kind of attachment for skid-steer, compact track and all wheel steer loaders on the market.

Designed to spray high pressure water on city streets, roads or any other suitable surfaces, the plug&play design of the new Pressure Washer Attachment provides total peace of mind. This ensures it is quick and easy to connect it to the Bobcat loader, allowing the operator to begin work with the new attachment immediately.

The compact dimensions of the new attachment guarantee maximum efficiency and simplify transportation requirements, whilst the front sprayer is adjustable to easily adapt to all types of work.

Wide Range of Applications

There are three different Pressure Washer Attachment models – the 250S, 250M and 250L – to match different Bobcat loaders and to meet the specific requirements of the many different applications for the attachment which include:

  • Roadwork and construction
  • Disinfecting to protect against Covid-19 or any other kind of sanitization
  • Cleaning furniture in parks and urban streets
  • Maintaining railways, bridges and tunnels
  • Cleaning animal or poultry sheds
  • Cleaning many types of machinery

Daniele Paciotti, Product Line Manager Attachments Bobcat in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Bobcat is now offering a Pressure Washer Attachment that ensures that cleaning streets, signs and street furniture has never been so easy and effective. Wherever much larger dedicated machines cannot gain access or where the job must be done mechanically – the new Pressure Washer Attachment mounted on a Bobcat loader is the best way to clean surfaces. Excellent results can also be achieved when cleaning façades and roofs, to clear waste and moss/lichen, for example.”

The new attachment is also very versatile, as the operator can either operate the sprayer from the cab or with a handgun for more targeted high-pressure water cleaning or sanitization of various objects.

Daniele Paciotti added: “The washing handgun and accompanying 20 m hose reel provide an easy switch from the front sprayer to handheld washing, providing an alternative solution for cleaning apartment entrances, corners, statues, machines, cars, benches, signs or in any tight spaces.”

The 250S Pressure Washer model is intended for the Bobcat S100 skid-steer loader. Next in the range is the 250M model, which is approved for use on all Bobcat skid-steer loaders from the S450 to the S650 model and the T450, T590 and T650 track loaders. The third model, the 250L, is designed for use with the S630, S650, S770 and S850 skid-steer loaders and the T590, T650, T770 and T870 compact track loaders. To work with the Pressure Washer Attachments, all the loaders except for the S100 must be equipped with the Bobcat Attachment Control Kit which is standard on the high flow machines.

Transforming Hydraulic Power into Pressurized Water

Working closely with the supplier, a Finish based company, Dynaset, Bobcat is now providing a Pressure Washer Attachment that is simple and effective, transforming the hydraulic power of the loader to pressurized water without any loss of power. This simplicity is also key to the ease-of-use and low maintenance of the attachment, ensuring increased uptime and more working hours.

Other product features include the Floating Front Wheel, which allows the Pressure Washer to work more smoothly and faster. As well as ease-of-use, the new Pressure Washer is also simple to clean, getting jobs done more quickly and safely with consistent results. The absence of rotating parts in the High Pressure Pump increases durability and ensures low maintenance requirements.

Pack two includes the ULiB700 battery and Excelion ‘cow horn’ grass strimmer and offers a £745 saving.

Strimming long grass, weeds and undergrowth on steep or difficult terrain demands particularly well-thought-out tools. They need to be rugged, powerful, easy to handle and ergonomic in use – just the characteristics of the new Pellenc 2000 hand-held brushcutter, making it the ideal maintenance tool for professional landscapers and contractors.

With a new heavy-duty harness and weighing just 5.1kgs, the Excelion 2000 can be purchased with a choice of four cutting heads: the ‘roll-cut’ head will accommodate 7 metres of 3mm twisted wire or up to 9 metres of 2.7mm, the ‘tap-cut’ head is capable of using the same wires, a new ‘multi-head’ is available for quick changes between wire and blade. A new heavy duty ‘blade-cut’ will shortly be available.

The Excelion 2000 prevents almost 98% of the direct emissions of a petrol engine. Users who decide to recharge Pellenc batteries with the Solerion solar charger see the CO2 emissions totally eliminated, and in addition an important factor for the commercial operator, vibration levels of 2.3ms².

As with all other Pellenc products, the Excelion 2000 uses the ultra-high capacity technology of the Pellenc lithium battery and guarantees non-polluting, odourless operation with quick start-up and up to 4.5 hrs of continuous operation.

Pack three includes the Airion 3 hand-held blower and quick release cable and offers a £228 saving (please note that this offer only applies when ordered with either pack one or pack two).

The rewarding result of the company’s innovation and experience in multifunctional, long-life batteries, this remarkably lightweight and perfectly balanced new tool offers ergonomic benefits which are essential to user comfort. The Airion 3 also has the special feature of being both quiet and odourless.

Whereas traditional blowers tend to swing downward towards the nozzle, the Airion 3 has an angled air intake, which offsets the swing effect from the air blast. This keeps the tool correctly balanced at any speed setting without putting strain on the wrist. This design also significantly reduces the blower’s noise disturbance for people in the surrounding environment, with the added benefit that the user no longer needs to wear ear defenders.

In addition, the Airion 3 profits from the Fast Connector system for rapid tool connection / disconnection. This feature allows you to quickly remove the tool while working if there is a risky situation or to use both hands freely without having to remove the back battery.

All Pellenc batteries come complete with a comprehensive four-year commercial warranty, while all Pellenc tools come complete with a comprehensive three-year commercial warranty.

Pellenc is distributed in the UK and Ireland by Etesia UK.

Headland reduces fungicide costs

Headland reduces fungicide costs: A successful trial of Headland Amenity’s 20/20/30 tank-mix over the winter of 2019 has seen it become a staple in the nutritional programme at Warwickshire’s Oakridge Golf Club.

Having previously fallen victim to costly Fusarium outbreaks on the greens for a number of consecutive years, Head Greenkeeper Ben Copson has been really impressed with both the condition of the greens and reduction in fungicide costs achieved by switching to Headland’s Enhanced Plant Health (EPH) strategy.

Headland reduces fungicide costs

“Every autumn Greenkeeper’s always worry – wondering how you’re going to fair with disease over the upcoming winter period and how much it could cost to rectify” says Ben, who has been at Oakridge for 20 years. “I sat down with our Headland Regional Technical Manager Andy Lane who suggested the 20/20/30 approach and the potential benefits this could bring for the greens.” After hearing how the tank-mix of Liquid Turf Hardener, Turfite® Elite and Seamac® ProTurf Fe, together with Mantle, had worked effectively at other clubs, Ben commenced monthly applications in October.

“We could see after the first couple of applications how strong and healthy the plant was by its colour, and how much better the greens held up when we conducted our mechanical maintenance. We also received some fantastic comments from both our members and pay and play golfers on how great the greens looked and played, especially considering how wet the winter was.” The 20/20/30 also kept disease occurrence in check, with just a single fungicide application required over the whole winter period.

Ben added that the EPH strategy contributed to the smoothest transition from winter to summer, with the greens emerging stronger and healthier than they ever had previously. “With USGA greens, we’re open for year-round play which means the pressure is on my team and I to keep them in good enough condition to cope. We used to secretly hope for a bit of snow to give the greens a breather before the start of the new playing season, but with this 20/20/30 EPH approach keeping the greens stronger than ever, we won’t be hoping for snow anymore!”

Reassurance from Reesink

Reassurance from Reesink: Reesink Turfcare has developed three new easy-care maintenance plans which will be rolled out over the coming weeks through its three turfcare branches in Scotland, South East and East Anglia.

The plans – rated Gold, Silver and Bronze – are designed to reassure customers that there’s a range of maintenance plan to suit the needs of every customer, giving customers the best support at an affordable price with no hidden surprises.

Reassurance from Reesink

Reassurance from Reesink

David Jackman, operations manager at Reesink Turfcare, comments: “As a distributor, we are focussed on the way we deal with customer support and achieving the best solution possible. Machinery maintenance is an absolutely given; it’s a non-negotiable in terms of getting the best out of your machinery and we wanted to create a service that made sure customers have the option to safeguard their investment.”

All three plans bring big benefits when it comes to efficient budgeting and cost control. The cost is fixed for the period of the contract and there is the choice of monthly or quarterly payments. Only genuine Toro parts are used, disposal fees are included, and every machine gets a free annual health check. Whichever plan you choose all scheduled servicing is covered and peace of mind is guaranteed.

David continues: “We developed three plans to offer a solution for our customers. Reassurance comes from knowing you can be assured your machines will perform to the best of their ability whichever package you have. When we talk to our customers regarding new machinery we are constantly asked for extended warranty programmes and guarantees, so we have developed the Gold Plan that covers all servicing work, breakdowns, replacement spare parts and acts like a warranty programme over the duration of the contract at a fixed price.”

These plans further reinforce the common goals and values that are the baseline for supporting the company’s commercial turf customers with high standards for servicing, repairs and warranty, and the spare parts supply process. Especially when placed alongside the back-up and support of Reesink’s service centres and network of Authorised Service and Dealer Locations, and initiatives such as the Service Level Agreement which benchmarks great customer service.

David says: “It means that buying Toro comes with buying into a support network like no other.  The parts backup is second-to-none and as a Toro customer you are never more than a maximum 72-hours away from the part you need and minimum downtime and maximum productivity.”

It’s this approach that’s seen Reesink recognised by The Toro Company for its outstanding performance in parts, service and technical training in the past – and with these new plans for machinery maintenance and servicing, it’s a standard that continues into the future.
