After completing his NVQ Level 2 in Land Based Service Engineering at Myerscough College, Ben jumped straight into his first role with Balmers GM Ltd – where he stayed for the duration of his working career prior to joining INFINICUT® in April 2024. Starting out in a service technician role, Ben made the transition to Sales Representative in 2017 where he used his technical know-how to develop productive client relationships and drive sales across the Balmers GM groundcare portfolio. It was also during this time that Ben became well-versed with the INFINICUT® golf and sports turf ranges, with Balmers GM joining the network of approved dealers in 2020.

“I’m really pleased to be embarking on the next chapter of my career with the INFINICUT® team” Ben says. “Their market-leading pedestrian mower range is innovative and well-respected with professionals across the sporting spectrum, something I witnessed first-hand with the breadth of venues I had the pleasure of visiting during my time at Balmers and already since starting in my new role. With more exciting developments in the pipeline, it feels like an incredibly exciting time to join and I look forward to working alongside our dealers to support customers old and new.”

Also commenting, INFINICUT® Sales Manager Alan Jack added, “Ben’s enthusiasm and understanding of the industry will undoubtedly bring benefit to our customers in Wales, and in the area north of Birmingham up to the Scottish Borders. He joins just in time for the hectic summer season and has well and truly hit the ground running!”

When not running around selling mowers, Ben can often be found literally pounding the pavements and successfully completed the London Marathon in 2023 raising over £5000 for Hospice UK. Besides running, Ben is a keen sports fan and particularly enjoys a day out at the horse racing.

Zero blade costs until 2027

Zero blade costs until 2027: GreenMech have announced the launch of a special summer promotion which will present not just cost savings, but increased peace of mind, to customers purchasing a new woodchipper.

Between 1st June and the end of August, all machines will be supplied with a second set of GreenMech’s revolutionary disc blades free of charge, all-but eliminating additional blade expenditure for the duration of the 3-year warranty or average 3-year finance deal.

Zero blade costs until 2027

Launched in 1995, GreenMech’s unique disc-blade chipping technology means that, in operation, only 30% of the blade’s circumference comes into contact with the waste material. This not only reduces the blades vulnerability to damage caused when contaminants such as soil and stones are inadvertently introduced into the chipper, it enables the blade to be turned to a new sharp section when these edges get worn. In the field, this equates to 600% more blade life and significantly more hours of chipping before the need to re-sharpen.

In addition to improved longevity, the disc-blades ‘slicing’ action is 1.5dB quieter than conventional straight blades – reducing the noise emissions of every operation.

With the purchase of a GreenMech chipper and the completion of the warranty form, the new promotion will see customers receiving a second set of disc blades absolutely free – giving you two complete sets of blades at no extra cost. By rotating and replacing these sets, up to 360 hours of use can be expected without the need to sharpen, resulting in savings of over £600.

“At a time when costs are increasing across the board, this promotion is a great way of giving customers real savings on their maintenance costs over their first few years of ownership” adds GreenMech Sales Director Martin Lucas. “Together with reduced expenditure and less machinery downtime, the additional blade sets give all customers the peace of mind that their GreenMech chipper will remain in top working order.”

Terms and conditions apply. Further information is available by visiting the GreenMech website – www.greenmech.co.uk – or by speaking with your local approved GreenMech dealer.

Seattle University’s Field Specialist applauds SISIS sweeper

Seattle University’s Field Specialist applauds SISIS sweeper: Seattle University’s commitment to maintaining first-class athletic and sporting facilities has received a significant boost with the introduction of the SISIS SSS1000 towed sweeper.

Peter Larson, the Athletic Field Specialist overseeing the university’s sports grounds, has praised the efficiency and versatility of this innovative machine, particularly in its ability to effectively pick up grass clippings on both synthetic and natural grass pitches.

The SSS1000 sweeper serves as an indispensable tool for maintaining pristine playing surfaces. Featuring a spiral rotary brush, it efficiently sweeps debris into a mesh hopper, allowing for the preservation of pitch infill. This crucial functionality not only enhances the aesthetics of the field but also ensures the safety and performance standards demanded by athletes.

Regular cleaning of synthetic surfaces is vital to avoid contamination and remove potentially harmful debris before play. The SSS1000 has proven instrumental in achieving this goal for Seattle University, providing Peter and his team with a fast work rate that helps keep the surfaces in optimal condition.

One of the standout features of the SSS1000 is its adaptability to different surfaces. Whether it’s synthetic turf or natural grass, the sweeper’s adjustable brush height ensures thorough cleaning without causing damage. Furthermore, its unique spiral brush design minimises vibration, guaranteeing constant brush contact with the surface for consistent results.

Peter’s journey with the SISIS Sweeper began with its introduction at the Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) Trade Show in 2023. Drawn by the promise of a quieter and more efficient alternative to their previous equipment, Peter was impressed by the sweeper’s self-propelled technology.

“I was looking for a tow behind sweeper for our synthetic field to replace our previous machine,” says Peter. “The old machine was effective at sweeping however it was too loud. I was interested in the self-propelled technology and friends at the Seahawks Training Facility gave the SSS1000 a ringing endorsement. They provided us with a demo on their grass field to show how effective it is at picking up grass clippings.”

Reflecting on his experience with the sweeper, Peter notes its intuitive operation and quiet operation as standout qualities. “We have used the SISIS Sweeper on our synthetic field and recently we brought it over to our soccer pitch to sweep up grass clippings – it gets the job done,” he remarks. “In both cases, I appreciate the quiet nature of the machine. It is intuitive and easy to operate.”

“I highly recommend this product. It works well on synthetic and natural grass fields, which is difficult to find in a sweeper,” adds Peter.

As Seattle University continues to prioritise the maintenance and enhancement of its athletic facilities, the SISIS SSS1000 towed sweeper offers superior performance and versatility.

Wembley Stadium wins sustainability award

Wembley Stadium wins sustainability award: Wembley Stadium connected by EE was recognised by a panel of industry experts at last night’s Stadium Business Awards, winning the Sustainability & Community category for its recyclable pitch initiative.

The award spotlights the stadium’s commitment to becoming a greener venue.

Earlier this year the stadium’s grounds team revealed it had developed a unique new process to make its famous pitch 100% recyclable.

It is believed to be a first in the world of football and the result of a meticulous two-year plan to find a suitable solution to recycling modern-day sports pitches, which are a hybrid of grass and synthetic plastic.

The plastic means pitches do not break down naturally, and the majority of old pitches are sent to waste landfill sites at the end of their life-cycle.

The team at Wembley Stadium came up with a process which allows the plastic to be extracted from the pitch and repurposed. In the first of its kind, they created a bench, made entirely out of plastic from a pitch that saw the likes of Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Lauren James and Mary Earps all perform on.

Karl Standley Grounds Manager at Wembley Stadium said: “We’re incredibly proud to have won The Stadium Business Award for Sustainability and Community and be recognised for the team’s incredible efforts.

“By ensuring old pitches don’t go to landfill we have created a cycle that will ultimately reduce our impact on the environment and give something back to local grassroots football along the way.”

PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership

PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership: A team from PSD Groundscare have recently taken part in a two-day visit to German manufacturer SABO, following the recent announcement of a partnership between the two organisations.

The trip was designed to further strengthen the relationship between the two companies. Representatives from PSD met with the SABO team and underwent exclusive product training both at the factory and in the field which they will take back to the UK and pass on to their dealer network and end-user customers.

PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership

PSD Strengthen SABO Partnership

The visit was hands on, and the PSD team came away with a greater depth of product knowledge and insight in to the history of SABO and the true capabilities of the exciting range of mowers.

SABO, one of the leading brands for high-quality battery and petrol walk behind collection mowers (“WBMs”) for both Residential & Commercial markets, announced in spring that they are re-entering the UK and Irish market. SABO chose to partner with PSD due to their proven track record of successfully taking specialist landscaping equipment to market.

SABO has established an unparalleled brand reputation for state-of-the-art lawn mowers of premium quality, reliability and lifespan with a high market share in the specialized dealer channel.

The trip has fully prepared the PSD team to develop their nationwide dealer network including comprehensive dealer product training.

PSD are focussing on the sale of the walk-behind mowers, which for many years were branded in the instantly recognisable green and yellow of John Deere, known and loved by both commercial and domestic users alike. In October 2020 John Deere decided to exit the WBM market and sold SABO to private equity company Mutares SE & Co who in September 2023 agreed to sell the company to an MBO (management buyout) led by Managing Director Lars Daniel and so finally returning SABO Holding GmbH, to private ownership. The range of collection mowers take the original tried and tested design and are now produced in a distinctive red colour.

Uncompromising brand quality has a long tradition at SABO. For more than 90 years, sophisticated engineering is combined with superior materials and functional design in Gummersbach, Germany. This has resulted in thoroughly reliable tools that make working in and around gardens as efficient and enjoyable as possible.

Never standing still, innovation continues to thrive with the  SABO E-Power Pro-Battery System. The professional battery-powered machines from SABO are the best innovative solutions you can get for effective and efficient operation. They offer powerful performance, flexibility and reliability to achieve outstanding results with any task thanks to their modern 56 V battery drive from EGO. In addition, all SABO battery powered pro machines are weather resistant. No matter what the weather, they are ready for use all year round.

PSD has a long-standing track record of expertise in long and wet grass mowing solutions and the SABO range of mowers are perfectly set up for working in UK conditions.

PSD Sales Director Stuart Mercer said:

“The trip to Germany was fantastic in terms of building on the already strong relationship we have developed with SABO. It was very interesting to see the rigorous process of product testing in action and to obtain in depth knowledge that we can take back to UK customers.”

Lars Daniel, SABO Managing Director comments,

“We were delighted to welcome the PSD team to our premises and to be able to show them around our factory and meet our team. Our success is built on our relationship with our distributors and given PSD’s track record I am excited what the future holds with them at the fore-front of our business in UK & Eire”

Stuart Mercer concluded:

“For more information end-user customers can contact the PSD Sales Team: Tel 01282 856819 Email: enquiries@psdgroundscare.com

Dealers who are interested in finding out about any remaining opportunities in becoming a SABO specialist dealer can register their interest by either contacting their area Business Development Manager or online via: http://promo.psdgroundscare.co.uk/SABO
