TenCate’s Pure PT™ One, offered in the UK through the TigerTurf portfolio, is the first turf system to achieve certification under the FIH DualSport Turf programme, the joint standard developed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and FIFA, defining what a surface must deliver for both hockey and football.

With this certification, Pure PT™ One meets FIH requirements while aligning with FIFA Basic criteria, making it an optimal solution for schools and community clubs where space for sport is limited and installing multiple certified pitches is often not a viable option.

Launched in April 2025, the DualSport Turf programme was built to address the need to maximise what a single installation can support. Its focus is not elite competition, but grassroots and school sport, where more players getting additional time on a quality surface is the measure of success.

One certified surface supporting both hockey and football creates more opportunities to play, broadens access for a wider range of users, and helps facilities deliver more value from the same footprint.

Charlie Haynes, Managing Director, TenCate UK, said: “Achieving dual certification under the DualSport Turf programme is a significant milestone for Pure PT™ One. This standard gives schools, clubs and community facilities confidence that the surface they are playing on is of a high-quality for multiple sports and activities, maximising return on investment. Pure PT™ One pitches, that are offered y in the UK through TenCate’s TigerTurf portfolio, can support more sessions and more opportunities for people to get active.”

Alastair Cox, Commercial Director, FIH Facilities & Quality Programme Manager, said: “The FIH is pleased that we now have an approved product capable of meeting the needs of both hockey and football. Dual Sport turfs will create more opportunities for people to experience both sports in a cost-effective, sustainable way.”

Meeting the DualSport standard is not simply a matter of combining two sets of criteria. Hockey requires controlled ball roll and a consistent surface response across varying weather conditions. Football places different demands on traction and player movement. A surface that satisfies both governing bodies without compromising the performance requirements of either sport is what the standard measures.

Pure PT™ One is designed as a non-infill fibre-based system The fibre density and structure of Pure PT™ One’s results in stable traction and controlled release during movement, consistent ball behaviour across conditions, and predictable surface response across the full field, avoiding performance variability caused by infill displacement or uneven distribution over time.

The non-infill system also has direct operational implications. No infill replenishment, redistribution or decompaction is required, meaning less time is spent on upkeep and more time is spent on play.

Multi-use pitches have existed for years, but certification within both hockey and football frameworks on a single surface introduces a different level of validation. FIH describes this development as a new category of turf, one that supports multiple sports within a single, certified system.

For facilities managing limited space and growing demand for hockey and football, Pure PT™ One enables more sport being delivered on the same field, for a wider group of users, with consistent conditions over time.

Reesink Turfcare, the distributor of Toro turf maintenance equipment in the UK, has supplied a significant package of machinery to Fife Golf Trust as part of a £2.4 million fleet investment programme designed to modernise operations across its seven golf courses.

The investment forms part of a comprehensive renewal of the Trust’s ageing machinery fleet, helping to improve reliability, reduce downtime and support long-term sustainability objectives. Toro was awarded approximately 25 percent of the overall machinery contract following a competitive public tender process.

David Gray, Golf Courses Manager of Fife Golf Trust, says: “This was a robust procurement process. The decision was made through public tender and competitive evaluation, with contracts awarded on merit.

“The procurement process was designed to ensure transparency, compliance and value for money, with detailed specifications developed for each individual machine.”

Involved in the order are five Toro Reelmaster 5010-H hybrid fairway mowers, six Toro GreensPro 1260 greens rollers and a Toro Workman HDX-D utility vehicle with ProPass spreader.

David continues: “A key part of the strategy was to invest in the cleanest and most efficient equipment available, which aligns closely with our sustainability objectives. We are committed to managing our courses sensitively and finding the right balance so that both golf and nature can thrive together.”

About the specific machinery, David says: “The hybrid Reelmaster mower was the best option on the market to ensure we continued to reduce our emissions. We’ve run Toro fairway mowers for over 10 years so this approach tied in well. Similarly with the Workman and ProPass, this was a direct replacement for one that we are familiar with. While the greens rollers are new to us, the affordability, reliability and performance of the machines will ensure this is a good investment.”

Fife Golf Trust’s operating model is unique within Scottish golf. While partner clubs remain separate entities, the Trust focuses solely on course maintenance and management, overseeing seven venues with a team of 23 greenkeepers across approximately 550 hectares of land.

“Our teams consistently produce fantastic course conditions that we are proud of,” confirms David. “This investment will help ensure we can continue delivering high standards while keeping golf affordable and accessible for local communities.”

For Reesink Turfcare, the project demonstrates the value of matching the right equipment to the needs of large-scale golf operations says John Rankin, Area Sales Manager for Reesink Scotland.

“We are delighted that Toro equipment was selected as part of this significant investment programme,” says John. “The competitive tender process made the outcome a strong endorsement of Toro’s ability to meet the performance, value and sustainability criteria required by a modern golf operation. We look forward to supporting Fife Golf Trust and its teams as they continue to deliver high-quality playing conditions across their portfolio of courses.”

GMA Connect Expansion Delivers UK-Wide Success

After two successful pilot events in 2025, the GMA responded to growing demand by rolling out five regional events this year. The expanded programme visited Oxford, Cardiff, Leeds, Southampton and Ipswich.

Collectively, the events attracted more than 250 attendees, welcoming of grounds professionals and volunteers from across the country. Each event provided a valuable platform for learning and discussion, reinforcing GMA Connect’s position as a key touchpoint for its members and the wider sector.

The series featured a strong line-up of expert speakers including Mark Hunt (Pro Data Weather Systems), Richard Earl (TGMS) and Andy Welsby (GMA), who shared practical insight and guidance on some of the most pressing challenges facing grounds teams today.

Sessions covered a range of critical topics including irrigation and drainage in practice, improving surface performance through design, and managing turf in an increasingly unpredictable climate.

Attendees also benefited from live demonstrations delivered by leading industry brands, offering hands-on exposure to the latest equipment and innovations.

Feedback from across the series highlights the positive impact of the events.

Paul Benson of The Newt in Somerset said: “Myself and my colleague thoroughly enjoyed the day, and I will definitely encourage other members of my team to go along to future events.”

Pete Hussey of Wildwood Machinery added: “A great event, well organised, smooth in operation, hosted superbly by the GMA’s Ian Mather-Brewster. A real feel-good factor throughout the day.”

As a core member benefit, GMA Connect continues to strengthen the Association’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality learning. By hosting events in regional hubs, the GMA is ensuring practical knowledge and industry expertise reach the people who need it most.

Sarah Hunter, Head of Events at the GMA, said: “It’s been fantastic to see how well GMA Connect has been received this year. By taking the events into regional locations, we’ve been able to connect with more grounds staff and volunteers, and support them with practical, hands-on learning that makes a difference in their day-to-day roles. The positive feedback shows just how valuable these opportunities are for the industry.”

The success of the 2026 GMA Connect series has also been supported by a strong network of industry partners. GMA Platinum supporters Cramer, GKB Machines, Howardson Group, ICL, ISEKI UK & Ireland, Kubota, MJ Abbott, Premier Pitches and Origin Amenity Solutions, alongside event sponsors including Campey Turf Care Systems, Abundigro, Fleet Line Markers, MH Goals, RT Machinery, Trimax Mowing Systems, Jenkins Garden Machinery and Aquatrols Europe, all played a key role in delivering the series.

Following strong demand in 2026, the series will remain a key part of the GMA’s industry engagement.
