Assistant Greenkeeper

Basingstoke Golf Club has recently invested in a major redevelopment, the investment includes a brand-new greenkeepers facility and machinery which has been put in place to maintain our 160-acre chalk golf course. The course renovations, designed by Weller Designs, include new greens and tees complexes, bunkers with rubber crumb liner, 2 large irrigation lagoons (33,500 cubic litre capacity) and a Rainbird irrigation system. Within the development there is also a brand-new clubhouse and driving range. The successful candidate will be crucial to the delivery of this new venue to its members and guests.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced greenkeeping assistant to support our golf course maintenance operations. You will work as part of the grounds team under the direction of the Deputy Head Greenkeeper to maintain excellent course conditions.

This position provides the opportunity to be an integral part of maintaining high standards across our new state of the art golf course from our brand-new Greenkeepers facility. We seek someone passionate about nurturing first-class playing surfaces and providing an exceptional experience for members and guests.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in golf course or grounds maintenance
• NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf
• Valid PA1 and PA6 pesticide application licences
• Ability to operate various grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, turf vehicles, chainsaws, blowers, etc.
• Knowledge of turf grass species, irrigation systems, drainage, etc.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
• Flexible schedule – early mornings and weekend work (1 in every 3 weekends)
• Physically fit with ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
