Reliable & Biological Pest Control

Reliable & Biological Pest Control: Selecting the best pest control product can seem like a daunting task; lists of unrecognisable ingredients and various warning symbols mean you cannot be certain what you are applying to your garden or if it will work. BASF, from its specialist production facility in the UK, produce a biological pest control that contains only one ingredient; beneficial nematodes that do not lose efficacy.

BASF grow six different products, each containing a different species of nematode, all of which are simply mixed with water and either applied from a watering can with a coarse rose or sprayed onto the foliage and soil, depending on the variety. Pests are not able to develop a resistance to the nematodes, which means the treatment never loses effectiveness, so you can get back to growing and planting safe in the knowledge that the product is working!

Reliable & Biological Pest Control

Unlike pellets and chemical-based alternatives, the product is not harmful to use around pets, children or garden wildlife and the whole programme is entirely biological so that all the Nemasys products can be used by organic gardeners.

Nemasys products are a simple, reliable method to ensure your plants are protected throughout the growing season, as one treatment lasts up to six weeks and entire season’s worth of nematodes can be ordered in one go from BASF’s online stockists, which is then delivered to your home as necessary every few weeks, so no more trips back and forth to the garden centre and more time to spend in the garden!

With maximum precision.

The new twin set consists of two pruners in one set. The first pair has a bypass blade and the other a straight edge, each to serve its own specific purpose. Precision Pruning From Cutting Specialists

The bypass blade is the perfect partner when pruning flowers, as well as for general pruning when a delicate touch is needed. Alternatively, for more intricate work and particularly dead heading in dense flowering shrubs where a firmer cut is required, without damaging other plants, then the straight blade pair are more suitable. These are easy to use in dense growth where the head can be snipped without disturbing other flowers.

Both pruners are lightweight with a cast aluminium construction and soft touch non-slip grip handles for maximum comfort. They also boast high quality blades that operate via a smooth spring action which opens and closes the pruners to minimise strain on hands, allowing you to garden for longer! They also have a central safety catch for safe transport and storage.

There really is something for every gardener within the Wilkinson Sword range of garden tools, and each one carries the reassuring Wilkinson Sword 10 year guarantee.

Good Soil Grows Good Plants

Good Soil Grows Good Plants: Time spent preparing soil is an important investment that will bring rewards for many seasons to come. Soil cultivation is the simple principle of breaking up and loosening soil to create good, healthy foundations. It’s also the process of removing weeds and ensuring the ground is not compacted so that water, air and nutrients can get to the plants freely. This is particularly important when growing new plants to help them get established in their new home.

Each tool has a solid, robust design with tines, prongs and blades that will resist bending, wear and corrosion.

Fencing Panel Proves Popular

Fencing Panel Proves Popular: Garden owners have made it clear that they value peace and quiet when spending time outside, with the popularity of the panel increasing rapidly across the country, with sales so far in 2018 double what they were in 2017. The panels are designed in a clever manner to reduce nuisance sounds such as barking dogs, road traffic and noisy neighbours by as much as eight times, whilst still offering style and affordability.

This is the first DIY acoustic panel on the market, and is readily available via national retailer’s websites for delivery directly to consumer’s homes. The panel can be fitted as a replacement between existing fence posts or as a new fence run. Tests show that the panels can achieve a reduction in the noise level of as much as 30dB.  Each successive reduction of 10 decibels is equal to halving the noise level, so it is easy to see that they can have a very dramatic effect. It is no surprise, therefore, that the product scooped Best Garden Landscaping Product prize at the Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association (GIMA) Awards in 2017.

Fencing Panel Proves Popular

The popularity of the panel doesn’t just come down to its noise reducing performance, though. It is also blessed with great looks that belie its hidden capabilities. Each panel is 180cm high and 183cm wide with the boards mounted vertically (making it a standard 6ft panel size).  However, the panel looks equally as attractive with the boards running horizontally with which arrangement it is 180cm wide so can replace standard sized European panels.

The thick (17mm) interlocking tongue and groove boards are smooth planed and moulded into a triangulated shape.  These are mounted within a 45mm thick rebated frame to ensure there are no gaps for noise to pass through.

Each panel is FSC certified and carries a 15-year anti-rot guarantee.

“This fencing brings peace and quiet plus privacy back to gardens subjected to unwanted noise,” says Nicola Simpson, head of marketing for Forest Garden. “The success of the fencing since its launch is a reflection of the uniqueness and innovative design of this product. It offers an affordable and ready to use solution to reducing noise pollution, which has really struck a chord with the public.”

The panel retails at £119.99 and is are available at selected stockists nationwide.

Plant Up With WOLF-Garten

Plant Up With WOLF-Garten: Not everyone is blessed with wide expanses of outside space to grow plants, fruit and vegetables. A lot of people have a smaller garden, some may rent and are unable to dig up the easy-care patio beloved by landlords, and for some, access to green space is limited to a balcony or window-box. This need not mean that they cannot enjoy the colour, scent and pleasure that plants can offer.

Container and balcony gardening means that the joy of cultivation is open to all, and with a collection of WOLF-Garten Hand Tools, specifically designed with the smaller garden in mind, the job couldn’t be easier. The range has been created for working in areas where space is limited or in densely planted pots and containers. The range includes forks, trowels, a hoe and bulb planter, all of which are lightweight and comfortable to use, as well as being compact and easy to store. A major benefit of the range comes from the handles. Each of the tools has a fixed handle that has been developed with three specific zones which ensure optimum control, comfort and power when needed. This is all fitted into a compact,  lightweight package, with comfort and control at the forefront of the design.

The 7.5cm Flower Fork is perfect for planting and transplanting in pots and containers, with its strong steel tines providing stability and the comfortable handle preventing pain from pressure points.

The 7cm Wide Trowel provides manoeuvrability around areas with limited space and makes planting up versatile plants, such as the hardy begonia or the delicate summer snapdragon, a breeze.

For planting areas with even less space, such as a window-box, the 5cm Planting Trowel is perfect. Its narrow width means that plants can be interplanted without disturbing their neighbours. It is ideal for mini herb gardens that have been suspended out of the kitchen window!

Once planting is done and foliage begins to fall later in the season, the 11.5cm Small Sweep comes into its own, neatly sweeping up fallen leaves and petals from even the tightest of gaps.
