Campey brings compact maintenance to SALTEX

Campey brings compact maintenance to SALTEX: Campey Turf Systems is ready to showcase a select range of compact maintenance equipment at Saltex 2024, including the Dakota 310 Turf Tender, Vredo Turf Buddy and Campey SeedShot.

Providing precision turf equipment for every situation has always been a priority for Campey, and focusing on machines and tools that work in smaller areas is this year’s theme on Stand H120 at the NEC.

The largest machine on display will be the Dakota 310. The compact and very manoeuvrable dual spinner pedestrian top-dresser is designed to ensure you can take Dakota’s renowned spread anywhere. The six-meter-wide spread can be infinitely varied using the individual controls, making it perfect for spreading sand, rubber crumb and other top dressings on sports surfaces wherever they are located.

For precision overseeding where other machines can’t access, Campey has the Vredo Turf Buddy. Using the tried and tested double disc system, the Turf Buddy sows in four rows at a 35 mm distance, with the 15 cm discs cutting the soil open for the grass seed to be deposited at a depth between 10 and 20 mm before the wheel compacts the soil.

Sometimes, very specific areas need to be targeted, and the Campey Seed Shot is the perfect tool for the job. Using 19 holes designed for ryegrass or similar-sized seed, the tool injects up to 20 mm deep, ensuring precise quantities and optimal germination rates.

Campey product specialists will be on Stand H120 to discuss these machines and others in the Campey range, have a catch-up or discuss any questions over a coffee.

Bionema Launches Grostimula®EW

Bionema Launches Grostimula®EW: Bionema is excited to announce the launch of Grostimula®EW, a cutting-edge plant growth promoter designed to elevate turfgrass health and performance.

Powered by Triacontanol, a natural biostimulant derived from beeswax, Grostimula®EW optimises photosynthesis and fortifies turf structure, making it the go-to solution for sports turf managers, golf course superintendents, and landscapers who demand vibrant, resilient, and high-performing green spaces.

Why Grostimula®EW Stands Out
With Grostimula®EW, turf professionals can unlock the full potential of their turfgrass, maintaining greener, healthier, and more vigorous turf all season long. The product’s unique formulation offers a multitude of benefits:

  • Maximized Photosynthesis: Grostimula®EW enhances the turf’s ability to convert sunlight into energy, resulting in healthier and stronger grass.
  • Boosted Enzymatic and Hormonal Activity: The natural biostimulants in Grostimula®EW activate vital processes in the plant, making it more resilient to environmental stresses.
  • Superior Nutrient Absorption: Grostimula®EW strengthens root systems, ensuring efficient nutrient uptake and faster recovery from wear and tear.
  • Prolonged Greenness: By extending the photosynthetic period, Grostimula®EW maintains a lush, vibrant green appearance, even under high foot traffic and wear.

Field-Proven Success
In initial trials on the golf course, Grostimula®EW demonstrated a 20% improvement in turf recovery times following periods of stress. Turf managers noted quicker green-up and more resilient grass capable of withstanding heavy play on golf courses and sports fields.

How It Works
Grostimula®EW activates specific genes that regulate photosynthesis, allowing turfgrass to maximise energy production and optimise growth. The critical ingredient, triacontanol, interacts with the plant’s enzymes and hormones, improving nutrient uptake and overall vitality. The outcome is healthier, more robust turfgrass that withstands environmental challenges while maintaining a high-quality playing surface for athletes and sports turf professionals.

Dr Minshad Ansari, CEO and Founder of Bionema, said, “Grostimula®EW is a breakthrough for turf professionals. By optimising photosynthesis and boosting nutrient uptake, this innovative product ensures healthier, more resilient turf that thrives under demanding conditions. It’s a natural, sustainable solution that aligns perfectly with our mission to promote greener agricultural practices.”

Sustainability at the Core
At Bionema, we are dedicated to providing eco-friendly, natural solutions that support sustainable agriculture. Grostimula®EW enhances turf quality and reduces the need for synthetic fertilisers and chemicals, aligning with our commitment to minimising environmental impact. This product is part of our broader effort to provide greener solutions that help our clients achieve outstanding results while protecting natural ecosystems.

Call to Action: Turf professionals looking to enhance their performance should contact Bionema for more information or arrange a trial. Experience the Grostimula®EW difference and see your turf thrive.

STIHL to showcase new machines at SALTEX

STIHL to showcase new machines at SALTEX: STIHL will present a range of new products at this year’s SALTEX, Europe’s premier grounds management show, between 30th – 31st October 2024.

Taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, they will be showcasing brand new battery-powered tools in the AP System range, including the BGA 250, STIHL’s most powerful handheld leaf blower, the KMA 200 R, STIHL’s most powerful KombiMotor, the TSA 300, STIHL’s first battery-powered 12” cut-off machine and the SHA 140, STIHL’s first battery-powered vacuum shredder designed for professionals.

The BGA 250 is the latest battery-powered leaf blower from STIHL. Weighing only 2.7kg, this leaf blower is lighter than the BGA 86 and boasts a significantly higher blowing force of 26 Newtons. This makes it the most powerful handheld leaf blower from STIHL, with the same blowing force on the maximum setting as the BR 430 petrol backpack blower. Due to the location of the battery on the BGA 250, it has great balance and the variable speed trigger makes it perfect for leaf clearing jobs that require high power. Thanks to constant power output technology, the blowing performance remains consistent throughout use and does not decrease as the battery discharges. Whether you use it at 100% charge or 20%, you’ll get full power until the battery has completely run out of energy.

Also on show at SALTEX is the KMA 200 R, the latest KombiMotor offering from STIHL which has a higher power output than the KM 131 petrol KombiEngine. This new addition to the AP System offers professional landscapers unrivalled performance and versatility. What’s more, the KMA 200 R can be used with a wide-range of KombiTools for taking on landscaping tasks, including brushcutter, pole pruner, sweeper brush, leaf blower, lawn edging and hedge trimmer attachments.

After many years of development, STIHL is excited to present its latest professional tool for hardscaping, construction and pipework, the TSA 300 12” cut-off machine. This model has been developed with precision in mind and features a variable speed control for achieving a significantly narrower cutting kerf in comparison to its petrol equivalent, the TS 410. This results in greater efficiency and a more accurate cut. The TSA 300 rivals the TS 410 for power and has other benefits such as being lighter, more compact and having less vibrations.

Finally, STIHL will be presenting the SHA 140, its first battery-powered vacuum shredder in the AP System. Designed for professionals, this vacuum shredder is the most powerful in its lineup and has a robust build, as well as 15% more suction power than the petrol SH 86, making it ideal for the leaf clearing season ahead.

Visitors to the STIHL stand will get the chance to see these new tools up close, observe live demonstrations, and speak with STIHL experts for advice and guidance on all STIHL machines.

Woodhall Spa chooses Club Car for first golf fleet

Woodhall Spa chooses Club Car for first golf fleet: The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa has chosen Club Car, the global industry-leading manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emissions electric vehicles, to supply its first fleet of golf cars.

The Lincolnshire venue has until now not permitted buggies on its two championship courses, the Bracken and the recently-renovated Hotchkin, ranked the 58th best course in the world*, but has introduced 12 Club Car Tempos with lithium-ion batteries and Connected technology.

Brad Gould, Managing Director at Woodhall Spa, said: “The new carts are an exciting addition and part of several other forward-thinking developments here.

“Previously we only allowed mobility scooters on the courses, but the new fleet has lithium-ion batteries, meaning the buggies are much lighter, resulting in minimal wear and tear on the turf. They also have Visage (Club Car’s Connected technology), which gives us full control over where they can and can’t go.”

Woodhall Spa’s Hotchkin course is on a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is carefully managed to restore and preserve the biodiversity and natural features.

Gould added: “As a GEO Certified organisation, sustainability is hugely important to us, so it was imperative that the new fleet aligned with that. Not only are the carts zero-emissions, they are incredibly energy-efficient.”

Andy Bourke, Club Car’s Regional Sales Manager UK, Ireland & Scandinavia, said: “It speaks volumes that Woodhall Spa chose Club Car for its first golf fleet. We’re proud to help such a prestigious venue.”

The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa has one of the most comprehensive academy and performance centres in Europe, including a covered 16-bay range with Toptracer technology, a swing analysis room and a strength and conditioning unit.

Club Car supplies many of the world’s leading golf destinations with its wide range of vehicles, and is the official supplier of the DP World Tour, the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and St Andrews Links Trust.

Club Car’s acclaimed Tempo golf cart is fully customisable with a number of options including paint colour, seats, wheels and extra features such as USB ports, club cleaners and Bluetooth speakers.

Campey nominated for award

Campey nominated for award: Campey Turf Care Systems has been announced as a finalist in the Global Star category in the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) Excellence Awards.

As an integral part of the Greater Manchester business community, the Chamber launched these awards to recognise the contribution and success of member organisations across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

The GMCC Excellence Awards will showcase and celebrate business achievements and resilience, highlighting businesses, leaders and teams who have demonstrated success within their industries and communities in Greater Manchester.

Campey’s place as a finalist was secured due to its history, progress, and innovation in the global turf market. Campey Turf Care Systems was established in 1986 by Richard Campey and has provided sports turf professionals with industry-defining machinery for 38 years.

Richard Campey detected an untapped market need. He realised that a specialist supplier of high-quality, purpose-built equipment could enable turf managers to meet the increased demands placed on modern sports turf surfaces.

From FIFA World Cups to Wimbledon, and Salford City FC to Manchester United, there is rarely a tournament or event played on turf that hasn’t been prepared using a Campey machine.

What initially started out as a business offering sports turf maintenance work within the North West of the United Kingdom has now grown to be one of the UK’s leading independent distributors. Machinery is available from 54 dealers throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA. Campey continues to strengthen its international presence by establishing Campey Australia and new dealer networks around the world.

Irrespective of the region, Campey Turf Care Systems is not just about providing industry-leading machinery. The company is equally invested in education. It has conducted numerous European roadshows and demo days worldwide, offering country-specific training to esteemed professionals and volunteers, thereby consistently elevating the standard of play.

Campey’s innovative machinery, combined with education and customer service, is what has led to the exponential and continued growth of a family business from Macclesfield, which is now the number one supplier and manufacturer of specialised sports turf equipment in the world.

The winners of the GMCC Excellence Awards 2024 will be announced on October 11th at Manchester’s Albert Hall.
