Campey goes big for BTME 2022

Campey goes big for BTME 2022: For the first time, Campey Turf Care Systems will be showcasing models from nine product ranges at BTME 2022.

The exhibition in Harrogate is one of the most popular events in the greenkeeping calendar, attracting turf professionals from across the world. In March, attendees will see over 15 Campey machines in one place with equipment covering everything from renovations and aeration to overseeding and utility vehicles.

To exhibit this bumper range of machinery, Campey has stands 248 and 249 in Red Zone North, along with their renowned product specialists who will be on hand to give expert advice, talk turf and catch up after a year away from Harrogate.

With the 2022 edition of BTME delayed until March, Campey viewed it as an opportunity to bring the latest turf technology to greenkeepers who may have missed out during the pandemic.

Campey Director Lee Morgado explains: “We are delighted to be going back to Harrogate after a long time away with our most extensive presence ever at BTME.

“Turf technology moves quickly, and maintenance trends move with it. We’re seeing more and more people renovating tees and other areas of their course with the Universe® rotor, and the desire for all-electric options like the AllTrec Tool Carrier is growing as well.

“For us, this is an excellent opportunity to bring all of those machines together for people to assess the latest options we have and look into new maintenance practices they might have spoken about or seen on social media.

“Even though we’ve all still been out and working directly with customers, there’s nothing like a show to catch up with people from the industry, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone onto the Campey stand.”

The machinery line-up will encompass every area of maintenance. Topdressing is covered by the industry leading Dakota range, and the effective TB220 and UniRake complete the grooming line-up.

The combination of the Universe® Rotor and Vredo Super Compact, an increasingly popular duo for renovating tees, will be on display with advice from Campey product specialists on how to get the best from the equipment.

Campey’s all-electric products will also be shown with the AllTrec Tool Carrier featuring mowing, hedge cutting, weed brush, and burning attachments.

These staple industry favourites are joined by machines from Omarv, Koro, New Holland, Campey and Imants, with new products to be launched at the show.

Etesia is the way for wet grass

Etesia is the way for wet grass: Adam Patterson, owner of Patterson’s Gardening Services in Northern Ireland, needed a mower that would perform in the wet, and in his opinion, there was only one brand which was comfortably up to the job.

Over the past 30 years, Etesia ride-on and pedestrian mowers have become world renowned for being able to cut and collect – in all ALL weathers. Even in long and wet grass conditions, the mowers provide a quality finish with outstanding collection performance.

“We chose Etesia because it has a reputation for being the best at cutting and collecting wet grass,” said Adam. “When it comes to the design and build, Etesia has thought about all the things that other manufacturers simply have not.”

Adam set the company up ten years ago after revealing that it was always his ambition: “It was always going to be the career for me – grass cutting was my summer job and I absolutely loved it,” he said.

Patterson’s Gardening Services, now employs four members of staff, and is highly regarded throughout Lisburn and surrounding areas.

With a glowing reputation to maintain, Adam takes it incredibly seriously when it comes to purchasing new equipment. Therefore, when his pedestrian mowers needed upgrading, he phoned Etesia and had a lengthy conversation with the company to discuss what he was looking for.

He was recommended two models from the PRO 46 range; the PHTS3 – a single speed self-propelled mower and the PHE3 – a push variant.

Following the same concept of the PRO 46 range of pedestrian mowers first launched in the early 1990’s, both models feature Xenoy cutting decks for increased strength, shear washer crank protection, individual height of cut adjusters, a new 22mm handlebar design, the latest Honda GCV170 engine and are supplied complete with 80 litre grass box and rear deflector as standard.

One main feature of these models is the ‘one cut’ principle. This means the grass is only cut once before being sent to the grass box. The benefits of this are reduced power consumption from fast deck material ejection and secondly, as it is not multi chopped, the grass does not stick to the cutting deck in the same way as multi-cut grass does prevent unwanted blockages. The grass box is manufactured out of the same Xenoy compound as the cutting deck for maximum strength and comes complete with fill indicator.

Adam ended up buying two of each model from his local dealer RD Mechanical and hasn’t looked back since.

“They have an excellent build quality and the weight of them really appealed to me. They are just perfect for all our small amenity lawns. However, we find ourselves using them on the bigger lawns too, especially if it has been raining or there is a lot of dew. In these circumstances the Etesia’s are so much quicker because you are not stopping to unclog the cute after every stripe.

“The PRO 46’s are very reliable and user friendly,” he continued. “From a personal point of view, I really like the way the handles bend slightly down as well – it feels more natural to work with as opposed to your hands being in an upright position.

“We have received an excellent service from our dealer RD Mechanical throughout the process – from advising the correct model, to the delivery, so It’s safe to say I am one happy customer.”

A Cordless Hover that is less bother

Easy to use and Easy to manoeuvre the Typhoon will glide across the grass with ease, forwards, backwards and side to side…. And with no cord to get tangled in bushes, hedges, or garden furniture!

The unique patented cutting deck traps the air creating the right amount of energy to produce the cushioning effect that lifts the mower from the ground similar to a hovercraft.  The blade has been specially designed for maximum cutting efficiency without disturbing air flow.

This mower is extremely lightweight, just 7kg so very easy to transport to areas around the garden that require cutting.  It is also easy to store in any garden shed or garage, flat against the wall from a single hook.

The mower comes with 2 x 20V 4Ah batteries and a dual charger, the batteries are interchangeable within other products in the Freedom100 cordless range such as a grass trimmer, blower, vacuum shredder, hedge trimmer and multi-tool as well as a selection of 3 collecting mowers.

The Typhoon is a must-have for those who have stepped gardens or sloped grassed banks and will be available from Amazon UK, selected B&Q stores and online at B&Q and Screwfix from March 2022.

New purchase for NJ Pacey Landscaping

New purchase for NJ Pacey Landscaping: NJ Pacey Landscaping Ltd of Crowland near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, has purchased a Becx HS131HR hedge cutting head and WLA60 loader arm combination from UK importer, Fentons of Bourne. The new equipment will be mounted on an Avant 635 tool carrier to provide Pacey’s with a compact, highly manoeuvrable unit for their grounds maintenance activities.

Adam Quant, a director of the 35-year-old family-run business says,

New purchase for NJ Pacey Landscaping

“I saw the Avant and Becx combination a couple of years ago and was impressed with its capabilities. Fentons have been a trusted business partner for many years and have supplied two of the three Avants that we have operated on our fleet.

“We have a small staff of eight, so any mechanised solution is welcome. We would normally use flails for our hedge work or resort to hand cutting where presentation is paramount. The flail heads tend to leave a very rough finish, but this Becx HS131 has a very good cutting and mulching action, leaving a very acceptable finish, so it’s ideal for prestige contracts that demand high level of presentation. The mounting arm can be extended by 60 cm and tilted by 105 degrees providing the manoeuvrability to trim a wide range of hedges.”

N J Pacey Landscaping was founded in 1987 by Norman Pacey and in 1999 became a limited company. Operating across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Norfolk, they provide landscaping, groundscare and arboricultural services to domestic and commercial customers.  In 2011 Norman’s daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Adam, a qualified arboriculturalist, joined the company.
