ICL Appoints Kevin Glazier as Area Sales Manager South: ICL Turf & Landscape UK & Ireland has announced the appointment of Kevin Glazier as Technical Area Sales Manager for the South.

Kevin brings more than 20 years’ experience in golf course management, with a strong background in agronomy, team leadership and course development.

Kevin joins ICL from Pine Ridge Golf Club, where he served as Course Manager, leading an eight-strong team and overseeing all aspects of course maintenance and development.

Prior to this, he held the position of Deputy Head Greenkeeper at Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club and began his career at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club. Across these roles, he has been responsible for course presentation, irrigation management, project delivery and staff development, including involvement in significant course improvement works.

Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said:

“Having worked in golf course management for many years, I understand the practical and technical challenges turf professionals face. ICL’s reputation for product performance and technical support made this an opportunity I was keen to pursue. I’m looking forward to supporting customers across the South.”

ICL Appoints Peter Smith as Technical Area Sales Manager: ICL is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Smith as Technical Area Sales Manager for Scotland North.

Peter brings more than 15 years’ experience working across some of the UK’s most respected golf venues, with a strong track record in delivering championship-standard playing surfaces.

He began his greenkeeping career at Kingsfield Golf Centre in 2009, where he played a key role in the grow-in of the full course from seed. Peter went on to hold senior positions at several prestigious clubs, including The Royal Burgess Golfing Society, Trump International Golf Links Scotland and Stirling Golf Club. Most recently, he served as Head Greenkeeper at Bathgate Golf Club, where he was responsible for all aspects of course preparation, including PGA and County events as well as long-term course development planning.

Peter’s experience also extends internationally. He completed the Ohio State University Programme, with placements at Oakmont Country Club and Trump National Doral. During this time, he contributed to preparations for major tournaments, including the 2014 Constellation Senior Players Championship and the 2014 PGA WGC.

Alongside his club roles, Peter is an active member of the wider greenkeeping community and has previously served as a board member for BIGGA Scotland.

Commenting on his appointment, Peter said joining ICL represents an exciting new chapter in his career.

“Throughout my time in turf management, I’ve always looked for partners that combine innovation with practical, real-world solutions. Mark brings extensive experience across the Agri-Food sector and professional development, including senior leadership roles within fresh produce and technical operations. He also supports Professional development through pro bono work  in education and as a member of the Institute of Food Science and Technology Scientific Committee.

phs Greenleaf appoints biophilic expert: Jane Leese has joined phs Greenleaf as its Biophilic Design Consultant as the interior and exterior planting business continues to grow across the UK.

Jane has 12 years of experience in the horticulture market and has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands and multinational companies to bring ambitious biophilic designs to life.

Jane’s role at phs Greenleaf will see her deliver interior and exterior schemes from concept to installation, including multi-site customers across the UK.

“Biophilia is the concept that humans have an innate connection to nature,” explains Jane. “In commercial and public spaces, biophilic design aims to bring elements of the natural world inside because there is strong evidence that this improves health, wellbeing, performance and organisational outcomes.

“It is more complex that putting a potted plant in the corner of your meeting room however,” continues Jane. “It is about putting the right plant in the right place and thinking outside the box to meet your goals. Plants can go inside, on or even around a building – there are no limits.

“ESG is a focus at every stage of the process. We want designs to reduce CO2, promote sustainability and use recyclables wherever possible.”
