Kubota celebrates 25 years as mini excavator manufacturer

Kubota celebrates 25 years as mini excavator manufacturer: Kubota UK is celebrating 25-years as The UK & Republic of Ireland’s number one supplier of mini-excavators to the construction industry. The famous eye-catching orange livery brand has announced a 12-month activity campaign throughout 2022 to celebrate the milestone.

“It’s an honour to celebrate any milestone, but 25-years as a leader in The UK & Republic of Ireland’s construction industry, which is a vitally important sector of UK & ROI’s overall economy is especially rewarding,” says, Geoff Smith, Dealer Manager, Construction Department, Kubota UK. “A lot of hard work has gone in to securing this position and success wouldn’t be possible without four vital components; the excellent and tireless Kubota UK team, our vital dealership network, who are the lifeblood of the industry, our incredibly loyal customer base and of course, the innovative and unique Kubota engine technologies and machinery.”

A host of activities are already planned to take place throughout the year, including a ‘Kubota Challenge’, that will see Kubota operators show off their skills and showcase the abilities of both driver and machine.

Kubota is also utilising its strong supply network to run charity events throughout the year that will see multiple local communities benefit from the funds raised. The excavator supplier has also agreed to match a percentage of the total funds raised to help the industry charity, The Lighthouse Club. Industry roundtables, testimonials from the Kubota network and customers, and a kids design competition, are just a few of the activities it has planned during the year-long campaign.

“We would like all of our activity this year to reflect on just how grateful we are to be in this position as the construction industry’s trusted, go-to supplier for mini-excavators. It’s not just a celebration about our accolade, it’s a celebration of the industry as a whole and how integral it is to the country, from every local community project, to large infrastructure works.” Continued Geoff.

Further details of Kubota’s 25-year celebratory plans can be found on its newly launched information page, here: https://bit.ly/Kubota-25YearsInfo.

National TOPSOIL Manager Andy Spetch has long been an advocate of giving those working in the land-based sector as much independently verified information on soils as possible:

“British Sugar TOPSOIL has always made its product testing and analysis data freely available and has encouraged customers to get acquainted with what that data is telling them about our products. We soon found that there was a thirst for independent, objective information on soils in general and so we made all our trials reports from the STRI and other respected organisations available for scrutiny.

“Our TOPSOIL Academy brings together all that technical and scientific information, plus more practical help and guidance, in one place where pdf documents can be easily and freely downloaded by anyone working with soils or studying to enter the land-based sector.

“We hope the training bursary will help someone working in the land-based sector to develop their career where financial constraints may have previously been a barrier to them moving forward.”

The 2022 British Sugar TOPSOIL Training Bursary terms and conditions, eligibility criteria and application form can be accessed by visiting www.bstopsoil.co.uk and clicking on the TOPSOIL Academy tab, where you can also find everything you need to know about soils.

Jacobsen celebrates Dmytro Klipalo’s 50 years

Jacobsen celebrates Dmytro Klipalo’s 50 years: Ransomes Jacobsen has marked Dmytro ‘Mick’ Klipalo’s 50 years of service at the Ipswich Turf Centre of Excellence with an event to commemorate his time at the company.

Dmytro’s family and colleagues gathered at the Ransomes and Jacobsen factory for a surprise celebration, where his outstanding service and contribution was recognised.

Jacobsen celebrates Dmytro Klipalo’s 50 years

Dmytro’s father, Peter, moved to England after the Second World War having chosen England as his new adopted home, and it was in Ipswich where he met his wife, Patricia, and had two children, Dmytro and Marika.

In August 1971, when all mower production was moved to the current site in Ipswich, Dmytro joined Ransomes as an apprentice. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked his way through the ranks to become Quality Systems Engineer before taking on his current role as Quality Manager in October 2020.

His time with Ransomes and Jacobsen has coincided with significant company landmarks such as the London 2012 Olympics and the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National and numerous successful model launches – all of which Dmytro had a hand in preparing machines for.

Speaking about Dmytro’s time at the company, Vice President of Turf Simon Rainger said: “Dmytro is part of the fabric of Ransomes Jacobsen, and we are delighted to mark his 50th year here with this celebration.

“In this industry more than most, experience is vital, and we’re lucky to have a person working with us who knows so much about the factory, the products and the processes. Dmytro’s contribution really has been invaluable to us, and it will continue to be for as long as we have him here.

“I think it’s also important to mention his impact on our workplace socially. He’s always played in our inter-department five-a-side football tournaments and coached our staff team for the annual match against the Ipswich Town Football Club ground staff. He’s always willing to get involved and give up his time, and that’s part of what makes Dmytro so popular with everyone here.”

Dmytro has worked at Ransomes Jacobsen throughout a transformative time. When he began in the early 1970s, a Ford Cortina cost £968, the Ransomes Ajax just over £14, Intel released the world’s first microprocessor, and Texas Instruments released the first ever pocket calculator.

In that time, those different technologies have been amalgamated and have led to pedestrian and ride-on mower technology taking huge steps forward with the introduction of the fully electric Jacobsen Eclipse range and several advancements in engine technology that have led to cleaner running machines.
