“I have known Tej Naik and his family for many years,” he says, “and we have been in constant communication over this time. We have watched with great excitement how the business and products have developed. We took the opportunity to visit their stand at the EICMA event in Milan and seal the deal with a long-term distribution contract. The Naik family had, for a long time, harboured the ambition to produce their own automotive vehicles and decided to manufacture ATVs locally to cut down on costs and make the product affordable for Indian customers. Today, the company is rapidly growing with the production of the Tachyon, which is now being exported as far away as South America and the USA.

Tej Naik says, “we’re excited to have Phil Everett and BOSS ORV as our exclusive partner for the UK. Phil, with his expertise in the ATV/UTV business for more than 25 years, will definitely help us in scaling up the business and making better products to satisfy the requirements of customers in the off-road market.”

Powerland expects to increase its team size to five hundred employees in the next three years. Phil Everett says he will be sharing more product details over the coming weeks and suffice to say, BOSS ORV are looking forward to developing the Powerland brand and business in the UK.  The Tachyon will be exhibited for the first time in the UK at the Lamma Show 2024 on stand number 6.924.

An insight into GKB’s Distributors

An insight into GKB’s Distributors: GKB Machines, the company behind sustainable, reliable and robust maintenance machinery for natural, synthetic and hybrid turf recently caught up with one of their loyal UK distributors, Balmers GM Ltd.

UK Operations Director, Tom Shinkins has worked for GKB since GKB Machines Ltd was founded in 2015 and a key part of his role is to work with the UK distributors throughout the year. Andrew Meeks, Commercial Sales Manager at Balmers GM Ltd has been with the company for 20 years and has fallen in love with GKB machines.

An insight into GKB's Distributors

An insight into GKB’s Distributors

Offering some insight into what it’s like to be a GKB distributor, Tom discusses with Andrew why they decided to become a distributor, what their customer experience has been like and ultimately what their favourite machine is!

What do you like about GKB Machines?

To put it simply, their build. We like the fact that these machines are built by contractors for use by like-minded people. Built robustly and to last, simple and easy to operate. The machines that we use are so reliable, we trust that they will get the job done everytime. Our ethos here at Balmers is perfectly matched with GKB’s. We want to supply our customers the best machines for use and reliability, as well as getting the support from the manufacturer which GKB offer exactly that. The question should be what do I not like about GKB Machines because then I would struggle to answer!

What do your customers like?

Our customers’ minds work like ours so, what we like, they tend to like too. They like the fact we are providing them with the best machines that they can rely on time after time.

How long have you been a dealer for?

We’ve been a dealer for nearly three years but knew about the products way before that. The way GKB keep bringing out new innovations and technologies to make their machines even better really excites us. We look forward to working with GKB for many years to come.

What is your favourite GKB Machines and why?

Now this is a difficult question! It’s almost like asking who’s your favourite child.  I love the SP100 Topdresser, it’s the machine that started our relations and outperforms the competition hands down. The GKB Combiseeder is also high on the list again for its ease of use, its simplicity and ultimately its performance and result.

Why did you become a dealer?

We became a dealer because we were looking for a mounted topdresser to supply our customer base with that fitted the John Deere ProGatorTM. We had supplied other manufacturers previously and were not happy with various things. We wanted a product with a direct line to the manufacturer rather than via the importer, simply to reduce the supply chain and improve communication. As we deal directly with the manufacturer now we’re able to provide customer feedback right to the people who built the product. On a typical wet and windy English weather day, Tom brought a demonstrator for us to try and we were blown away by its performance. The product range suited our portfolio and the rest is history.

What’s your customer experience like from GKB?

If I had to use one word it would be fantastic. Tom has been invaluable, providing a vast wealth of knowledge and support. We also spent time with the guys over in the factory in Holland, which really helped to build relationships. Ultimately for us, it’s a company and a product range that’s growing which we thrive on. They are constantly innovating without creating solutions to problems that aren’t there. For that, we thank GKB.

New distributors for Capillary Concrete

New distributors for Capillary Concrete: Global bunker liner and water management specialist Capillary Concrete has appointed four new distributors to help improve its coverage across the world of golf. The new distributors cover various different regions, including the American Midwest, India and South Korea.

Chicago-based golf course supplier Clesens will represent Capillary Concrete across much of the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. Established in 1961, Clesens is a well-regarded, family-owned supplier of turf care products and equipment.

New Korean partner Seowon Corporation was founded in 1978 and has installed over 70 per cent of the country’s golf course irrigation systems. The company already has partnerships with suppliers such as Rain Bird, Jacobsen and EZGO. “Clesens is excited to bring Capillary Concrete, the market leading bunker liner, to the midwest as the company’s newest distributor. Clesens has been serving golf course superintendents in the midwest for over 50 years, introducing new products and technologies with the excellent customer service Clesens is known for,” says sales director Matt Kinnard.

Centaur Asia Pacific is already an established installer of Capillary Concrete across Asia, with offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Now, the company is expanding its operations to include the Australian state of Queensland and the Pacific region of Melanesia. Existing Australian distributor Global Turf Projects will still cover the rest of the country. Centaur general manager Danny Potter says: “Our expansion into the Australia market in 2020 was decided when exciting new opportunities were presented to us, none more significant than our agreement with Capillary Concrete for the Queensland and Melanesia markets. Being from Australia’s ‘Sunshine State’ myself, and starting my career as a greenkeeper at the Sanctuary Cove Resort, it has always been my goal to be an active member of the golf industry here again. Capillary Concrete has been a game changer for the golf world and the construction and maintenance of bunkers, and we can’t wait for everyone to see how well it handles the more severe Queensland weather.”

Finally, SGDC India, the subcontinent’s leading golf course construction and irrigation specialist has been appointed as Capillary Concrete’s distributor for the whole of India. SGDC has recently completed the country’s first two Capillary Concrete bunker installations, at Tarudhan Valley Golf Resort in Gurgaon and at the Karnataka Golf Association course in Bangalore. CEO Anit Malhotra says: “Around the globe, thousands of bunkers have been built and renovated with Capillary Concrete; we truly believe that Capillary Concrete can make a great impact in enhancing bunker quality through the support of regional distributors. We, as India’s foremost golf course Construction Company, felt the need to introduce Capillary Concrete to the Indian market where prospective customers will be able to understand the core advantage of Capillary Concrete bunkers in order to gain better and sustainable results.”
