SIS Pitches Acquires Both DrainTalent and HeatTalent

SIS Pitches Acquires Both DrainTalent and HeatTalent: Global leader in sports surfaces SIS Pitches has acquired a majority stake in DrainTalent, a Netherlands-based business specialising in circular soil management systems, and HeatTalent, an innovative and sustainable, electric undersoil heating.

This latest acquisition cements SIS Pitches’ position as the most comprehensive provider of pitch construction and maintenance by incorporating two further sub-surface technology systems at the cutting-edge of soil science within their already comprehensive range of add-on systems.

DrainTalent’s patented, flagship product – which shares the same name as the company – is a unique, sustainable soil management system that regulates moisture levels in soil by extracting water from the top layer and reintroducing it from below. This keeps grass healthier and improves recovery after use, resulting in less fixture cancellations.

Using the system’s sensors and climate information provided in the company’s app, grounds teams can manage their playing surface conditions remotely via a connected device. Working this way, a sports club can drastically reduce its water consumption while also promoting natural grass growth. With installations at both amateur and elite-level, DrainTalent has been proven effective across the most challenging playing conditions, guaranteeing optimal conditions all year round.

The acquisition also includes HeatTalent, pioneers of innovative electrical undersoil heating systems, some of which are already being used within the Eredivisie, having been installed at FC Utrecht. One of HeatTalent’s lead technologies include grid heating, a wired, uninsulated stainless-steel grid that heats the soil at much quicker speeds using low voltage and high frequency current pulses.

SIS Pitches’ acquisitions come off the back of impressive organic growth in recent years, with revenue up by 30% over 2024/25. In response, the company has opened new offices in the USA, Saudi Arabia, Georgia and Poland to meet the needs of its growing client base.

The acquisitions are also the latest step in an ongoing growth strategy, which seeks to invest in forward-thinking businesses that add a competitive edge to its existing portfolio. DrainTalent was a natural choice in this respect, with the company boasting its own Research and Innovation Centre. This facility – located next to the manufacturing site – is used to validate product performance, with all trials audited by a local independent consultancy.

George Mullan, Executive Chairman of SIS Pitches, said: “DrainTalent has an exciting range of products that complement what we do as a business, backed by data and the latest industry insights. It’s a company that aligns with our vision to deliver exceptional sports surfaces at every level of competition across the world. These acquisitions are an important step for our long-term growth, adding an extra dimension of performance for both new and existing customers.”

Ivo Lamot, CEO of SIS Pitches, added: “These acquisitions mark an exciting step forward. For existing clients, we’re unlocking enhanced pitch longevity, reducing water usage and maintenance costs, ensuring greater year-round playability. Similarly, DrainTalent clients will now have access to premium surface technology and a seamless end-to-end service through SIS. This combined offering is unmatched in the market.”

Arno Reimert, Managing Director at DrainTalent believes the investment from SIS will be key to the system’s long-term success: “Our shareholders and management see great potential in cooperation with the SIS team to grow global sales and development of the DrainTalent company and its products. With SIS’s proven installation expertise and global reach, we’re now positioned to deliver even greater value – from sustainability gains and lower lifetime costs to a seamless experience for facility owners and grounds teams. It’s a powerful combination that takes our system to the next level.”

Recognising the product’s success and brand visibility, DrainTalent will continue to operate under its current name, as an affiliated company within SIS Pitches.

DrainTalent return to SALTEX

DrainTalent return to SALTEX: Following their announcement of an exclusive UK partnership with Hewitt Sportsturf, DrainTalent return to SALTEX to showcase their sustainable, circular soil management system.

The team will be on hand on stand F107 to discuss the benefits of balancing moisture content and how their award-winning system can contribute to high quality surfaces, capable of hosting more play with fewer cancellations.

Professional clubs throughout Europe are already experiencing the difference DrainTalent can make to pitch quality and plant health, with installations at a number of elite venues including FC Utrecht and FC Twente. With their stadium pitch due for renovation, FC Twente opted to invest in an improved drainage system which would enable the club to control and regulate the field conditions in detail. The answer was DrainTalent Pro – incorporated as part of a hybrid pitch installation during the summer break of 2024.

DrainTalent monitors the moisture within the profile in real-time to keep the soil conditions balanced, based on the pitch requirements and live weather conditions. Innovative and unique in its operation, the fully automated DrainTalent system can effectively extract water from the top layer of the pitch during periods of rainfall or re-infiltrate water when required, to support healthy growth and recovery. In addition to moisture management, DrainTalent can also pull air into the subsoil and through the profile to create conditions for vigorous growth and a more stable, hardwearing pitch.

The DrainTalent unit is compact and can be safely located indoors or outdoors pitch-side and is connected to a bi-directional under-pitch drainage system. Control of the system is simple, by adjusting settings on the digital panel on the unit itself, or remotely via your smart device. Either way, the outcome is a surface that is healthier, stronger, denser and more resilient to turf diseases and, in the longer-term, a pitch that is more sustainable to operate.

SALTEX will also be the launch platform for a brand-new innovation in undersoil heating technology. DrainTalent’s sister company HeatTalent will be discussing their electric field heating system – a never-before-seen concept which utilises renewable electrical energy to improve efficiency and reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Installed at FC Utrecht last year and proving to be the perfect partner to DrainTalent’s moisture management system, HeatTalent delivers uniform heat to the profile with optimal moisture content.

More information on the sustainable solutions available from DrainTalent is available by speaking with the technical team on stand F107 at the NEC this October.

Draintalent at SALTEX

Draintalent at SALTEX: The award-winning, sustainable solution to optimal pitch moisture management will be on show this November, as DrainTalent make their return to SALTEX.

With facilities across Europe discovering the many benefits that the unique circular soil monitoring system can bring to pitch quality, play conditions and plant health, the team will be on hand to explain all at the NEC on stand F132.

Innovative and unique in its operation, DrainTalent continuously monitors both the moisture content within the profile and the current weather conditions to optimally balance soil conditions in real-time. The installation of a bi-directional, under-pitch drainage system is linked to the DrainTalent – a compact unit which can be safely stored indoors or outdoors, pitch-side. The fully automatic system will identify when it starts raining and will actively begin extracting superfluous water from the top layer. Alternatively, in periods of dry weather, water can be re-infiltrated through the same system to support healthy growth and recovery.

Together with managing moisture, DrainTalent can also force air into the subsoil and up into the soil profile, creating conditions for stronger root growth and a more stable pitch, able to better withstand wear and tear.

Control of the system is simple, with the option of monitoring and adjusting settings from the digital control panel on the unit itself, or remotely via your smart device. The result is a pitch which is healthier, stronger, denser and less prone to some turf diseases. The strength from the improved root network also mean that it can support longer or more frequent play and will recover better following use. In addition, the healthier plant will require fewer inputs and less maintenance, making it more sustainable and more cost-effective to operate in the longer-term.

DrainTalent has proven revolutionary to a number of elite football venues following installations at top-flight clubs across Europe, including FC Utrecht in The Netherlands. Together with the professional market, the promise of increased play hours and reduction in overall maintenance costs also make DrainTalent a serious consideration for clubs at amateur or community level.
