Gleneagles Choose E-Z-GO

Gleneagles Choose E-Z-GO: Since joining Gleneagles in March 2015, director of golf, Gary Silcock, has been on a four-year journey to provide a premium experience for golfers of all abilities from hotel guests to Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup competitors.

Keeping the ‘Gleneagles experience’ at the cutting edge requires extensive research and investment. It’s as much about listening to what golfers at a premium course want as it is supplying them with technology they haven’t experienced.

Gleneagles Choose E-Z-GO

Fulfilling a set of practical and impressive criteria was top of the agenda when replacing Gleneagles’ previous fleet of buggies. Lithium batteries and an accurate GPS system were the stand out functional features while the customer journey had to be considered at every stage.

This meant close attention to detail on the visual aspects of the new fleet. Any option under consideration needed to be customised with logos and branding to keep them in fitting with the rest of the equipment, but Gary’s first action was to pick a model and brand from a range of dealers.

For Gleneagles, lithium batteries are the forefront of golf car technology, with multiple environmental and practical benefits making them the key factor. Lighter buggies allow guests to go on the fairways more often, increasing both revenue and the golfers’ experience, while reducing stress on the turf and preventing wear and tear on the course. Gary assessed a number of lithium options, but it was the combination of features on the RXV ELiTE range that stood out.

The TFM GPS, combined with the Intellibrake system, provided everything required in terms of usability and accuracy but the combination of the two also increased the safety of those using the buggies.

Gary explained: “We looked at the TFM system E-Z-GO offers, and it did everything we wanted it to, and we’ve been very surprised at the ease and usability.

“The topography of the land at Gleneagles has a lot of interesting slopes, and the IntelliBrake system on the RXV EliTE prevents any skidding. We were focused on health and safety when making our decision, and the braking system was an interesting piece that was unique to E-Z-GO.”

With a selection of features in place, the aesthetics were next on the list. Any new fleet of buggies would be located on the driveway and provide guests with a valuable first impression, so it was vital for them to have a head-turning look.

To show how that could be achieved, director of sales, Andre Andrade, produced a sample buggy with Gleneagles branding to show precisely how a high-specification RXV ELiTE would look and perform. For Gary, this was a crucial stage in the decision-making process because he wanted to work with – and continue working with – a company that provided the best customer journey for himself and the guests of Gleneagles.

The high level of engagement from E-Z-GO and Scottish dealer, Fairways, throughout the design and demo process impressed Gary and led to him confidently choosing a fleet of 45 bespoke RVX’s to enhance the ‘Gleneagles experience’.

E-Z-GO 14-Seater At Edge Hill University

E-Z-GO 14-Seater At Edge Hill University: Edge Hill University in Lancashire has purchased the first E-Z-GO 14-seater shuttle bus to be sold in the U.K.. Local dealer Sharrocks supplied the shuttle bus, as well as nine Cushman Hauler Pro vehicles for navigating the 160-acre campus.

Commenting on the purchase of the E-Z-GO shuttle bus, Fleet Administrator Andy Timon said:

“A temporary car parking facility has recently opened on campus to provide more spaces for students. However, whilst still on campus, the car park is a distance from the main hub of the University. We have purchased the E-Z-GO 14-seater Shuttle Bus to provide a shuttle service from the new car park to the centre of campus. Instead of a long walk, it’s now a 4-5-minute comfortable shuttle ride.”

Launched this year, the E-Z-GO Shuttle Bus is a 14-seater electric vehicle that is designed to easily transport people around facilities. With a quiet and smooth 72V AC drive train the E-Z-GO Shuttle Bus can operate in indoor and outdoor spaces.

“The new shuttle is totally electric, which means there aren’t any engine emissions, and there is also a reduction in noise pollution,” Andy continued. “The charge lasts a full day and performs consistently across the different terrains we have on site. As well as complementing our environmental pledge, the shuttle gives a great first impression to visitors and students alike. We pride ourselves on providing the best facilities and learning environment around, and the new E-Z-GO shuttle bus is the latest addition to the University’s ongoing investments.

“Thank you to Sharrocks for supplying us with the shuttle bus as well as the new Cushman vehicles. We have been very impressed with the level of service and product knowledge of the staff at Sharrocks and look forward to continuing our strong relationship moving forwards. We are very proud to be the first institution to own an E-Z-GO 14-seater Shuttle Bus in the U.K.!”

Yay Tagon Taung Continues Affiliation with Jacobsen and E-Z-GO

Yay Tagon Taung Golf Resort Continues 20-year Affiliation with Jacobsen and E-Z-GO: Yay Tagon Taung Golf Resort, located about 30 minutes’ drive east of Mandalay in Myanmar (formerly Burma), has taken delivery of yet more Jacobsen machinery after serving as a loyal customer for more than 20 years.

Mr. Thant Zin Oo has been the general manager at the club for two years now, having previously been an officer in the army. The former Pwint Phyo Thit Group owned golf club has invested in four Jacobsen Eclipse 2 green mowers, two LF550 light fairway mowers, one TR-3 trim mower, 27 E-Z-GO Freedom LXi golf cars, 12 TXT E-Z-GO golf cars and six Shuttle 4 vehicles. Commenting on the machinery, Mr. Thant said:

Yay Tagon Taung Continues Affiliation with Jacobsen and E-Z-GO

“We attract a lot of golfers to the club. The course has a good reputation, and we have 7,380 rounds of golf on average per month. For this reason, we have invested heavily in new machinery, and the best machinery, as the grass gets stressed due to the high volume of foot traffic; we do not have much time to get out in the morning to maintain the course.

“When looking for machinery, we wanted equipment that could save us time and that left a good finish. The course condition is important here because we host many tournaments throughout the year, including an event which is part of the Myanmar golf tour. The LF550 fairway mowers and the Eclipse2 green mowers suit our course perfectly. They do not put the turf under any unnecessary stress, and they are extremely easy to use, efficient, and reliable.

“There are currently three golf courses in the area, but we are always striving to be the number one course around here. We hope to expand to 36 holes, and to attain international standard within five years after we receive approval from the government. We are looking forward to strengthening our relationship with Jacobsen and E-Z-GO during this exciting time for us.”

Yay Tagon Taung Golf Resort was established in 1996 and is located at the foot of a mountainous area, just 10 miles from Mandalay city center. The mountains are dotted with temples and pagodas, providing a serene backdrop for visitors to enjoy. The golf course is wide and open, offering an enjoyable experience for players of all abilities.
