Jacobsen™ electric fleet to prepare Le Golf National: Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd., a Textron Inc. company and the renowned manufacturer of Jacobsen™ high-quality turf maintenance equipment, is proud to announce its support of Le Golf National in Paris, the flagship facility of the French Golf Federation, as they work together to prepare this summer’s world’s stage for the biggest names in golf. This will be the first all-electric fleet of mowers to maintain an entire course in the world.

Jacobsen equipment has more than 100 years of experience producing the highest quality cut for golf, sports turf, and commercial use. To drive a more sustainable future for turf management initiatives, Jacobsen offers the same precision cut with powerful, long lithium battery life using its ELiTE series of equipment, activated by Samsung SDI technology. These fully electric units enable one to keep up with the needs of the course, and maintain a cleaner, fresher environment without hydraulics, to minimize the risk of spills or tailpipe emissions. This results in a quieter course for golfers, without the addition of harmful chemicals to the land, air and water surrounding them.

Users can track and measure the power output per hole of the machines to maximize their performance and develop a bespoke picture of how they work on the course. While this is the first facility to go all electric, Ransomes Jacobsen is committed to fully electrifying golf and sports turf facilities across the globe in the years to come.

STIHL’s new route to market for battery and electric tools: The STIHL Group, a leading manufacturer of chainsaws and outdoor power equipment, continues to significantly invest in its battery strategy.

To support the company’s position as a leading consumer brand in the premium battery tool segment, STIHL is announcing a new electric and battery retailer in Great Britain in addition to the successful partnerships with independent Approved Dealers.

Commencing in July, STIHL electric and battery powered tools, along with a selected range of accessories, will be sold by omnichannel retailer, Screwfix. The STIHL battery and electric range will be available in store, online and on the Screwfix App for Click & Collect from over 880 Screwfix stores in England, Scotland and Wales. In addition, Screwfix will feature a STIHL display system and offer a handover service at its Yeovil – Lysander Road store.

Warranty support and repair will be offered through Screwfix’s fast and reliable repair service and customer advice and support will be available from the company’s contact centre.

“We know from our market data, that a high proportion of prospective customers of battery tools are already shopping online and many of their home and garden project purchases are already made at Screwfix” said Kay Green, STIHL GB’s Managing Director.

“This new relationship with Screwfix represents an opportunity for STIHL to grow its consumer battery footprint as well as further increasing our brand exposure. It will offer a complementary new dimension to the business we have built with our Approved Dealer network over the last five decades.”

A new era for electric loaders: Working with an electric loader is now more efficient than ever – even in extremely cold conditions. Avant Tecno presents the renewed e series and the third generation of fully electric loaders, whose unique battery technology further improves the capacity, pricing, safety, working time, durability, and lifespan of electric loaders. With a fully charged Avant e527, you can work all day.

Finnish compact loader manufacturer Avant Tecno has been at the forefront of the development of electric loaders for decades. Now, Avant is launching two next generation fully electric loader models, the Avant e513 and Avant e527, which will renew the Avant e series and replace their predecessors, the Avant e5 and e6 models. The new loaders will enter production in January 2024.

Unique battery technology

The new loaders are equipped with Avant OptiTemp® battery packs (13 kWh and 27 kWh) manufactured by Avant Tecno’s subsidiary Avant Power. The globally unique battery technology brings capacity to a whole new level, and the energy density of the batteries is among the best in the world. The thermal management system of the patented lithium-ion batteries guarantees the same capacity in hot and extremely cold temperatures. Multi-level protection makes Avant OptiTemp® batteries very safe.

Power for demanding professional use

The new Avant e513 and Avant e527 loaders are almost identical, but the only difference lies in the capacity of the batteries. The Avant e513 (13 kWh) is a good choice for short-term continuous use on cattle farms, horse stables, greenhouses or DIY and leisure time, for example. The Avant e527 loader (27 kWh) with a larger battery is ideal for demanding professional use. Construction and demolition contractors will benefit from this model.

The fully electric Avants are ideal for working in confined spaces and on construction sites that have strict limits on noise and emissions.

A full workday on a single charge

When fully charged in the morning, the Avant e527 loader (27kWh) can be used for a whole working day. The maximum operating time of the machine is about 6 hours for medium-duty work, whereas for Avant e513, it is about 3 hours. The battery of both loaders can be fully charged with a fast charger in under 1.5 hours, allowing for long working days.

“For years, the market has been longing for fully electric loaders that would be more like diesel loaders in terms of functionality. Until now, operating time and pricing have been key issues related to electric loaders, but with Avant’s new e series, we solve them both”, says Jani Käkelä, CEO of Avant Tecno.

The renewed Avant e series

  • Fully electric loader series. Zero-emission, very quiet. Low operating and maintenance costs.
  • Two models: Avant e513 (battery capacity 13 kWh) and Avant e527 (battery capacity 27 kWh).
  • Excellent capacity in hot conditions and severe frosts.
  • Fast charge in under 1.5 hours. Type 2 charging, built-in 3 kW battery charger. The maximum charging current has been increased by 50% compared to previous Avant electric loaders.
  • Two electric motors: one for driving hydraulics, and one for auxiliary hydraulics, boom, and steering. Thanks to the electric motor, maximum torque is immediately applied, which ensures excellent thrust.
  • The further improved cooling system in the engine package keeps the machine’s heat under control even in soft terrain. Increased load resistance in short-term hard work.
  • The updated multifunction display provides information on battery status, temperature, power consumption, operating hours, auxiliary hydraulics output, maintenance needs, and more.
  • Same appearance as in Avant’s diesel-powered 500 and 600 series loaders.

With the Eclipse 2 ELiTE™ walking greens mower, ELiTE lithium outfront and AR1 ELiTE articulated rotary mower joining the already successful Eclipse 360 ELiTE and SLF1 ELiTE models.

Jacobsen has scaled up the power requirements for fairway and rough machines using tried and tested Samsung® Lithium SDI technology. To enhance the efficiency and productivity of these machines, Jacobsen has added PACE Technology™, an equipment management and geofencing system that is a screenless web-based solution. PACE can be accessed from any device and features real-time tracking and task management to maximize the effectiveness of your operation. Users can track and measure the power output per hole of the machines to maximize their performance and develop a bespoke picture of how they work on the course.

Testing these innovations and their capabilities has been a big consideration. Jacobsen, Cushman®, and PACE have collaborated with 26 courses across three continents in 2023, including Sage Valley Golf Club, South Carolina, Loch Lomond Golf Club, Scotland, and Peninsula Kingswood in Australia.

Kubota to unveil new electric machine at SALTEX: Visitors to SALTEX 2023 will be the first to see the latest in the electric offering from Kubota UK, as stand C070 provides the European launch platform for the next addition to their eco-friendly line-up.

The bigger and bolder stand promises the very best in both technology and innovation, with two out-front centre-collect mowers from their FC Series also taking centre stage. The additional floorspace means that larger products from the Kubota range will, too, be showcased – including tractors up to 110hp which find applications for users across the groundcare sector.

2022 saw the introduction of Kubota’s first electric compact tractor, the LXe-261, equipped with a large-capacity battery that can provide rapid one hour charging and three to four hours of continuous run-time. Equipped with key features for mowing, hauling, and other green space management tasks, the feedback from the extensive LXe-261 market testing is helping to shape the future of Kubota’s electric line-up – with the details of the new machine being kept closely under wraps until its appearance this November!

Kubota’s FC-Series has also seen expansion since its first show outing last year, with two models – the FC3 and FC4 – appearing at SALTEX 2023. The highly productive Kubota FC3-261 out-front centre-collect mower delivers working comfort and outstanding cutting performance, ideal for large areas. The patented HTC™ hydrostatic traction control and fuel-efficient 3-cylinder diesel engine is combined with a large 800 litre grass collector and choice of rotary or flail mower decks for optimal versatility on sports turf applications.

The stand will also feature some larger machines from Kubota’s extensive tractor portfolio, including the 110hp M5112 which can deliver high output, high productivity to contractors and those working on larger-scale groundworks and groundcare projects. Also promising to showcase the very best from their RTV range, the Kubota team will be joined on C070 by Baroness – whose range of mowers and implements complement the Kubota offering to provide a complete solution for sports turf managers.
