Polaris expands Youth line-up

Polaris expands Youth line-up: New for 2022, Polaris brings innovation and advancement to the youth side-by-side category with the introduction of the new RZR 200 EFI.

Replacing the popular RZR 170, the new RZR 200 establishes a new standard for youth riding thanks to exclusive safety innovations, including speed limiting, geofencing and new Helmet Aware technology.

Aimed at riders aged 10 and up and designed to grow with young riders as they build more skill and confidence, the RZR 200 features a new 180cc engine with electronic fuel injection, delivering enough power to manage and overcome varying terrain without falling behind, as well as dual A-arm suspension on the front and independent rear suspension delivering seven inches of suspension travel and ten inches of ground clearance for a smooth ride.

Controlled via the Youth Ride Control App, the new Helmet Aware technology allows parents to pre-set the vehicle’s controls so that the vehicle won’t start when the helmet beacon is out of the vehicle gauge range, meaning that fun is always paired with a helmet. The RZR 200 EFI comes equipped with two youth helmets and an attachable Bluetooth beacon, and helmet detection can be enabled or disabled via the Youth Ride Control App. When no helmet is detected, users have the option to disable the start of the vehicle, limit the speed or display a warning to the rider.

In addition to Helmet Aware technology on the Youth Ride Control App, parents can also set the maximum speed of the vehicle to ensure children ride at the appropriate speed for their age, ability and terrain, as well as utilize geofencing technology to keep the vehicle within set riding boundaries and speed limits within set areas.

Children can share the fun with the passenger seating inside the RZR 200 EFI, and there are hard doors fitted as standard to keep the kids in, whilst everything else remains outside. The RZR 200 also features a high-visibility flag and LED headlights and tail lights for improved rider visibility in low-light conditions. Kids can also make the RZR their own with a full range of accessories available, including vehicle protection like front and rear bumpers, rock sliders and cab options like a windshield and roof, plus wheel and tyre options.

The rest of the Youth line-up also receives all-new upgrades and improvements. The Ranger 150 features quality and user safety upgrades including the new Helmet Aware technology, and the Outlaw 70 EFI has reduced throttle effort, an improved turning radius and an added battery charging port.

Makita expands XGT 40VMAX range: Leading power tool manufacturer Makita has made two new additions to its selection of XGT 40VMax machines. The new tools include the UR006G XGT 40VMax Brushless Brush Cutter and UR008G XGT 40VMax Brushless Linetrimmer.

UR006G XGT 40VMax Brushless Brush Cutter

The UR006G is a high-power machine that can deliver output of up to 7,000 rpm and similar power to a 30CC class engine grass trimmer, so users can experience the benefits of cordless without compromising on output. To deliver optimum performance, the UR006G has three speed options and features Automatic Torque Drive Technology (ADT) that intelligently adjusts the operation speed depending on the load conditions.

For maximum productivity, the UR006G features a reverse rotation switch that allows the operator to quickly clear the trimmer head or blade from entangled grass and weeds. What’s more, the UR006G uses smart Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT) to prevent kickback by automatically turning off the motor if the tool rotation suddenly slows, improving operator safety.

The UR006G also features a tool-less quick fastening handle holder, so operators can quickly and easily adjust the machine for comfortable operation and ease of storage.

UR008G 40VMax XGT Brushless Linetrimmer

Designed with comfort in mind, the new UR008G has a no-load speed of up to 6,000 RPM and an impressive cutting diameter of 430mm, ensuring maximum productivity. To ensure user safety, the UR008G produces low sound and vibration levels for a more comfortable operation – with a Noise K factor of 1.6 dB (A) and a Vibration K factor of 1.5m/sec ² when using the nylon cutting head. For safety and efficiency, the UR008G features Makita’s advanced ADT and AFT technology.

For jobs that span large areas, the UR008G is compatible with Makita’s battery backpacks (PDC01 and PDC1200) so users can comfortably work away from power sources without needing to regularly stop and replace batteries.

MR007GZ DAB/DAB+ Job Site Radio with Bluetooth

The new Makita MR007GZ DAB/DAB+ Job Site Radio can be powered by XGT, LXT and CXT batteries or an AC adaptor jack – so it can easily slot into an existing family of Makita products. The elastomer bumpers and IP65 dust and shower proof rating protect the radio from knocks and scuffs on site.

The radio is the perfect addition to any toolkit and offers a high-quality subwoofer for a deep and rich bass sound. What’s more, the sound quality is second to none as the MR007GZ also benefits from midrange/treble speakers, together with a multi-amplifier system that provides clear hi-fi sound reproduction without decreasing the sound quality at high volumes. Not only can users tune into their favourite radio station, the Bluetooth capability can also play audio from mobile devices up to 10 meters away.

DC40RB Two Port Charger

For twice as much battery power from a single charger, the DC40RB Twin Port Charger can charge two XGT 40VMax 4.0Ah batteries in as little as 45 minutes. With two charging slots, the new DC40RB can quickly and efficiently charge two XGT batteries to keep users equipped with the power they need.

The DC40RB uses intelligent real-time battery data for optimum charging and an electronic current limiter for overload protection which preserves the batteries’ condition. For enhanced usability, the interface features a large charging status indicator.

On the two new machines, Mark Earles, Business Development Manager for garden machinery, from Makita UK commented: “By adding to our line-up of cordless XGT outdoor power equipment, we hope to equip professionals with the best tools for even the most challending tasks. The XGT battery system is ideal for groundskeepers who require high powered machinery with the flexibility to cover large areas, or remote locations. In addition, our XGT batteries are IPX4 rated which means that they are protected against water and dust ingress – ideal for those working outside whatever the weather.”

British Sugar TOPSOIL expands analysis

British Sugar TOPSOIL expands analysis: British Sugar TOPSOIL has long been trusted to provide detailed and current analysis of its soil products to meet and exceed the British Standards for Topsoil and Subsoil.

To further inform and assist customers with their choice of products, the company is now having all its soil and topdressing products tested with new, state-of-the-art, soil microbiology technology that is used in agriculture to determine soil health and fertility.

British Sugar TOPSOIL expands analysis

British Sugar TOPSOIL expands analysis

Detailed analysis under a microscope looks at the levels of bacteria and fungi in TOPSOIL’s products. It is anticipated that, carried out at regular intervals over time, this level of analysis will help build a picture of soil health in terms of living organisms and give TOPSOIL customers yet more important information on which to base their purchasing decisions.

Working with Hampshire-based SoilBioLab, samples of each TOPSOIL product were submitted for analysis, together with a local arable soil, to establish and compare the amount of:

  • Active Bacteria
  • Total Bacteria
  • Active Fungi
  • Total Fungi
  • Hyphal Diameter (a physical measure of the branching filamentous structure of a fungus – in lay terms, the wider the branching structure, the more mature the fungus)

National TOPSOIL Manager Andy Spetch said: “We want to provide as much detailed technical information as possible on our products, which is freely available to anyone on our website. It is too early to draw any conclusions from this first analysis but we anticipate that, over time, we will be able to build a helpful picture of the health and effectiveness our products.”

This first set of results, which can be viewed on the TOPSOIL website at www.bstopsoil.co.uk  in the TOPSOIL Information section under Analysis, Research and Development, are very much a starting point.
