Advisors Pass Fertiliser Assessment: All of the Collier Turf Care FACTS Qualified Advisors (FQA) have successfully passed the fertiliser annual assessment examination.

This ensures that they are up to date and able to offer sound professional advice on fertilisers for the turf and amenity industry, and entitles them to remain on the register of FACTS Qualified Advisors. Those staff that are not currently FACTS Qualified Advisors are undergoing our in-depth formal training scheme and until qualified they are fully supported by the company’s FQAs.

Germinal’s 100% Organic Fertiliser

Germinal’s 100% Organic Fertiliser: Germinal has added a 100% organic slow release fertiliser, which promotes soil health and enables grass swards to withstand disease pressure, to its expanding range of specialist amenity grass care products.

G7 Bio Builder is a granulated 5-3-8 NPK fertiliser which also contains 8% CaO and 0.5% Mg.*  It can be used at any time during the growing season but is especially effective when used immediately after fine turf swards on golf greens, golf tees and sports pitches have been renovated or aerated.

The new fertiliser’s 100% organic composition enhances sand-based soil profiles by providing naturally occurring rhizobacteria with a viable and consistent supply of organic material on which to feed.  This in turn stimulates natural biological activity within the rhizosphere and enhances the cation and nutrient exchange capacity of the rootzone, thereby improving the sward’s natural ability to put down healthy new growth and to fight off infection and disease.  Its mini-granular (1-2mm) formulation ensures the fertiliser breaks down quickly and is rapidly dispersed throughout the rootzone for immediate uptake.

“G7 Bio Builder releases a steady and predictable supply of nutrients over a period of 12-16 weeks, during which time it encourages the growth of beneficial microbes within the soil profile.  This subsequently allows improved root development and increases the sward’s resistance to soil borne pathogens,” explains Richard Brown, Germinal Amenity Sales Manager.

“Applying G7 Bio Builder regularly throughout the year, typically from April onwards, provides a controlled and sustainable supply of organic material which enables the soil’s naturally occurring and beneficial rhizobacteria to flourish.  This in turn ensures the sward is in prime condition, enabling it to withstand disease and infection pressures and also to tolerate heat stress.”

G7 Bio Builder is recommended for application at a spreading rate of 70g/m2.

Germinal Launch Organic Based Fertiliser: Germinal has launched an organic based phased-release fertiliser which provides up to five months’ worth of nutrients and trace elements from a single application at a budget-friendly price point.

GSR Tri-Phase is an 18-3.5-8 NPK fertiliser which also supplies one unit of MgO plus trace elements including copper, zinc, boron, manganese and molybdenum. *

Recommended for use on all fine grass swards including golf greens, tees and fairways, sports pitches and all amenity areas, GSR Tri-Phase’s mini-granular (1-2mm) formulation delivers a cost-effective and consistent supply of nitrogen and potash over a period of 16-20 weeks.

Richard Brown, Germinal Amenity Sales Manager explains: “We recognise that, for many landscapers, local authorities and golf, rugby and football clubs, grass and groundcare budgets can be very tight.  We have therefore developed our own phased-release fertiliser which is as good as anything else on the market but at a more affordable price.  It can be used either as a base feed as part of a wider fertiliser programme, or, where budgets are severely restricted, as a standalone, single application product.”

GSR Tri-Phase contains three forms of nitrogen to provide three phases of nutrient release into the rootzone: an initial hit of quick release nitrogen gives way to methylene urea which is subsequently followed by a final release of organic based nitrogen.  In addition, potash is also released slowly throughout the growing season to regulate water uptake and to ensure nutrients and trace elements remain mobile and available for uptake.

“This not only reduces plant stress throughout the growing season, but also enhances the sward’s ability to withstand drought conditions,” Mr Brown adds.  “A single application of 25-35g/m2 in the spring – typically in late March or early April – will instigate good early season growth and recovery and provide the necessary nutrients required by high performance grass swards for the majority of the growing season and certainly through until August or September.  During this time GSR Tri-Phase will release a slow and steady supply of available nitrogen ensuring a consistent rate of grass growth with no intense bursts of activity.”
