The RANGER 150 EFI is ahead of the safety game with Polaris’ all-new Helmet Aware technology which allows parents to pre-set the vehicle’s controls so it won’t start when the helmet beacon is out of range. From the Ride Command app, parents can control the ride boundaries and set specific speed limits for both inside and outside a geofenced area. Digital speed limiting ensures that kids are riding at the appropriate speed for their age, experience and terrain, and can be easily increased as they grow. The Youth RANGER also features password protection for the engine start, meaning that parents can control when the vehicle is being operated by simply entering a passcode to allow the engine to start.

At 150cc of power with electronic fuel injection, 8” of ground clearance and 22.7kg of storage capacity, the RANGER 150 EFI is ready for a full day of safe riding. Easily operated with automatic PVT transmission (forward/neutral/reverse), plus hydraulic disc brakes on the front and rear and adjustable seats with a tilt steering wheel for the perfect fit. For ultimate safety, every purchase of a RANGER 150 comes with two youth helmets, a safety flag and a training DVD.

BOSS ORV appointed distributors for Powerland

BOSS ORV appointed distributors for Powerland: Off-road vehicle specialists BOSS ORV have been appointed sole UK distributors for Powerland Agro Tractor Vehicles Pvt. Limited. Powerland is the company behind the development and manufacturer of the Tachyon fully electric ATV in Goa, India. BOSS ORV Managing Director, Phil Everett, made the announcement.

“I have known Tej Naik and his family for many years,” he says, “and we have been in constant communication over this time. We have watched with great excitement how the business and products have developed. The factory in Goa has become a fully independent facility, manufacturing the complete vehicles in-house, including their own chassis. We took the opportunity to visit their stand at the EICMA event in Milan and seal the deal with a long-term distribution contract. The Tachyon is now the complete fully electric (Li-ion) ATV, which is road legal with tractor homologation and the time is right to launch it into our market.”

The Naik family had, for a long time, harboured the ambition to produce their own automotive vehicles and decided to manufacture ATVs locally to cut down on costs and make the product affordable for Indian customers. Today, the company is rapidly growing with the production of the Tachyon, which is now being exported as far away as South America and the USA.

Tej Naik says, “we’re excited to have Phil Everett and BOSS ORV as our exclusive partner for the UK. Phil, with his expertise in the ATV/UTV business for more than 25 years, will definitely help us in scaling up the business and making better products to satisfy the requirements of customers in the off-road market.”

Powerland expects to increase its team size to five hundred employees in the next three years. Phil Everett says he will be sharing more product details over the coming weeks and suffice to say, BOSS ORV are looking forward to developing the Powerland brand and business in the UK.  The Tachyon will be exhibited for the first time in the UK at the Lamma Show 2024 on stand number 6.924.

Performance assured for Conservation Contractors

Performance assured for Conservation Contractors: The combination of impressive performance and outstanding service has sealed the deal on a GreenMech EVO 205D woodchipper for leading Wiltshire-based arborists Conservation Contractors.

While the EVO 205D is the first machine on their fleet from GreenMech, it has quickly cemented its status as the most-utilised, with peace of mind that the daily demands will not result in costly downtime thanks to the first-class back-up support from local dealers GA Groundcare Ltd.

Entrusted on a wide variety of projects from high-end domestic to commercial, including local authority work and nationwide contracts which sees them responsible for the ongoing external maintenance of hospital and residential homes, the EVO 205D has been busy since its delivery in July 2023. Daniel Butler, Manager of the Arb Division, explains how this demand, coupled with previous struggles with breakdowns and repairs lead Conservation Contractors to GreenMech.

“We pride ourselves on delivering the very best service to all of our customers and this means having equipment that is fully-operational and at our disposal, at all times. We don’t have the luxury of a raft of spare chippers in the yard. If something fails, we need it running as soon as possible and with our ageing 8” machine, the service and back up support we were receiving was not where we needed it to be.” He continues, “GA Groundcare Ltd have helped us out on more than one occasion, with loan GreenMech machines which was ultimately a big factor in our recent purchase.”

“Like everything, there’s been a big rise in the costs of arboricultural equipment, but the EVO came in at a reasonable price and the team were really impressed by its performance.” The largest machine in GreenMech’s EVO Series, the 205D boasts a generous in-feed hopper and unparalleled processing power for a machine in its category – tackling the biggest of tasks with both reliability and ease.

“The size, versatility and user-friendliness of this machine has seen it become our go-to for most jobs that come our way, it’s out on a daily basis.” Daniel emphasises, “The team have no complaints, and from an investment point of view, the fact we have dealer support 3-miles down the road and the no quibble 3-year parts and labour warranty gives us no doubt that the GreenMech was the right decision.”

BIGGA accepts generous donation for benevolent fund

BIGGA accepts generous donation for benevolent fund: The British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) has accepted a generous donation from Origin Enterprises after staff at the agri-services organisation selected the Greenkeepers Benevolent Fund as one of its charities of the year.

Origin Enterprises is the parent company of Origin Amenity Solutions, a BIGGA Premium Partner, and employees nominated the benevolent fund for a donation of £1,200 as part of a ‘Spring into Action’ campaign.

The Greenkeepers Benevolent Fund is the official charity of BIGGA. It exists to assist current or past members and their dependents, to provide financial support and practical help during difficult times.

Speaking at SALTEX, where he accepted the donation on behalf of the association, BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton said: “We all hope never to need the support that a benevolent fund can provide, yet we also know that times are tough for many. If a grant or offer of support can relieve some of the burden and help as a family tries to get back on track, then any small donation can prove priceless. The heartfelt thanks of everyone at BIGGA goes out to our colleagues at Origin Amenity Solutions for this wonderful gesture.”

Origin Amenity Solutions Commercial Director Andy Russell added: “I am delighted that we were able to make this donation to such a worthy cause. Working with, and giving back to the community, is high on our agenda and this is a charity that aligns closely with our values.

“Our teams around the business have been challenged to Spring into Action with a series of fitness-based activities. We had colleagues swimming, running, walking, planting trees, and cycling – anything they chose that got them moving and raised much-needed money for the benevolent fund.”

Head to the BIGGA website for more information about the Greenkeepers Benevolent Fund.

Donations for the benevolent fund are accepted via the membership renewal form, directly to BIGGA HQ or via the JustGiving website.

Amenity Sprayer Operator of the Year open for entries

Amenity Sprayer Operator of the Year open for entries: The search is on to recognise the UK’s most professional sprayer operators in the sports turf, amenity and landscape management industries. The Amenity Sprayer Operator of the Year (ASOOTY) awards highlight best practice and experience in the challenging role of ensuring accurate application on all amenity surfaces.

Sponsored by ICL and Syngenta and managed by the Amenity Forum, the awards seek to share top tips and advice that will raise the standards of spray application across the amenity industry.

The finalists and winner will be announced and presented at the prestigious BIGGA Awards ceremony at BTME in January 2024, with prizes worth over £500. All ASOOTY applicants will also be entered into a competition to win one of five Syngenta Sprayer Calibration & Application Kits.  BASIS CPD points for participating in the awards have been applied for.

The skills of sprayer operators to make efficient, effective and above all safe applications is essential for the future sustainability of the amenity and turf care industry. ASOOTY awards are a welcome way to recognise and reward the leading individuals and to learn from their experience.

Along with assessing operators’ skills of spray application and use of products, the ASOOTY awards also now reflect the importance of an integrated pest management (IPM) approach to any issues involving turf and landscape maintenance.

Announcing the opening of the ASOOTY 2023 awards at SALTEX (1-2 November), Syngenta Technical Manager, Sean Loakes, said: “Sprayer operation is a key factor in the success of every application, including elements of nozzle choice, water volume and fine tuning the sprayer to more effectively hit the intended target.

“However, for the best possible results, today’s professional sprayer operators must also fully understand the wider aspects of why an application is being made, and what other integrated options they can also employ for better long-term management of potential problems.

“Knowing when not to spray is in many ways as important as the techniques to actually make an application,” he advised.

ICL Landscape & Industrial Business Manager, Lewis Blois, added: “We are delighted to support such an important cross-sector industry initiative with a continued commitment to raise standards and improve results.

“Importantly it has identified and recognised the range of spray application techniques and the differing skills involved across the amenity sector. It will provide a unique and vitally important resource for all involved in spray application.”

This year the entry process aims to test sprayer operators’ broader knowledge of issues and solutions faced across the amenity sector through an initial on-line question form. Lewis explained entrants are not expected to know the answers to all the questions, however the entry form will help the judging panel to assess an individual’s experience and approach to dealing with challenges.

“The entry process itself will stimulate thought and understanding of the challenging issues around application across the sports turf, amenity and industrial land management industries, including the need to create integrated solutions using a full range of tools and tactics. We’re looking to find operators that can make those important proactive decisions with every application,” he added.
