Fixed fountain easy with Otterbine

Fixed fountain easy with Otterbine: Turning a floating fountain into a cost-effective fixed fountain is easy with Otterbine.

For those who have a floating fountain from Otterbine’s C3 range – including all of the decorative patterns and Fractional series – all you need to do is remove the float from the fountain and attach the three-legged stand from the fixed system to anchor the fountain to the bottom of the pond basin. And voila, you have a fixed fountain.

This in turn removes the back float from the floating fountain (or, if you were going for a bespoke fountain fixture, the piping and valves) from sight for an aesthetically pleasing result.

Simon Powell, business development manager at Otterbine, says: “This simple system provides a solution to the aesthetic problem of having some of the fountain’s parts visible, as can be the case with floating fountains. This is a cost-effective, off-the-shelf and simple to install solution in comparison to the alternative which is a bespoke build.”

Each stand comes assembled with adjustable legs that can be positioned at different heights to accommodate sloping bottoms of varying depths between 22 to 30 inches, while the rubber feet can be removed for earth bottoms.

Made from corrosion-resistant and durable marine-grade stainless steel, the pump chamber fits flush with the surface and comes with power control centre cable with quick disconnect for ease of installation. They are backed by a robust five-year warranty and can be fitted with Otterbine’s Fountain Glo™ RGBW light systems to enhance the fountain’s display and give rich vibrant light through a variety of coloured displays and sequences at night.

Otterbine restores fountain to former glory

Otterbine restores fountain to former glory: After the installation of a new Otterbine, the fountain at the centre of Newquay’s Boating Lake has been restored to its former glory, providing a stunning centrepiece for the whole community to enjoy.

Having served the lake for over a decade, the previous Otterbine Giant Fountain was sent by Newquay Council to Pump Supplies, a leading supplier of electric submersible pumps in the UK, for servicing and repairs.

Steve Impett from Pump Supplies explains: “The previous Otterbine Giant Fountain had been in use for such a long time, and had suffered some damage from vandalism, that while we could have made repairs it was more economical to replace the fountain with a new model, particularly due to the loyalty programme available with Otterbine.”

Showcasing Otterbine’s appreciation for both new and loyal customers, when replacing an existing Otterbine system that’s at least five years old, or replacing other manufacturer equipment with an Otterbine, customers can claim a discount of up to 10 percent of the original purchase price. Combined with Otterbine’s comprehensive four-year warranty for Giant Fountains, the decision to replace like-for-like with Otterbine was easily justified to Newquay Council.

“The whole process with Otterbine and its distributor Reesink Turfcare has been great,” says Steve. “We don’t usually supply or repair  fountains at Pump Supplies but in essence it’s still a submersible pump and we wanted to help the customer in whatever way we could. Otterbine and Reesink were very helpful and knowledgeable so really aided us with that, and we had no problems throughout the process, even with the fact that the fountain had to come from the states in the middle of a lockdown, it still made it across the pond with no issues!

“The new fountain has now been safely installed,” continues Steve. “We’ve placed lights inside rather than outside to help protect them from vandals and now the lake has a great fountain centrepiece during the day and a beautiful light show after dark. Another massive bonus is the fountain keeps the water in the lake clean, clear and healthy too.

“It’s been great working with Otterbine and Reesink, and I would hope to see this develop into more of a relationship in the future,” says Steve. “It’s brilliant to have another offering for our customers that we can confidently recommend.”

Otterbine Fountain At Ladbrook Park

Otterbine Fountain At Ladbrook Park: For the past 15 years, Otterbine’s Sunburst aerating fountain has created a stunning centrepiece to the heart of Ladbrook Park Golf Club in the midlands.

Three impressive interconnecting lakes make up the centre of Ladbrook Park and with 12,000m² of water in total, it’s paramount a high-quality aerating system is in place to keep the water clear and healthy. And for 15 years, Otterbine’s Sunburst aerating fountain has been more than up to the task, says course manager, Kevin Fellows:

Otterbine Fountain At Ladbrook Park

“The lakes are central to the course and provide the backdrop to many of our 18-holes, so having a reliable aerating fountain that keeps the water clean and clear, while also creating a striking centrepiece is of the utmost importance.

“For 15 years, the Sunburst has given us everything we needed. When we first excavated the lakes in conjunction with a local contractor, there was a transition period when we had a lot of weed and algae build up which was causing problems and fixing that as soon as possible was a real priority.”

To combat this, the club worked with a water management company who recommended the Otterbine Sunburst fountain. Everyone was confident the Sunburst was up to the task of keeping such a large body of water in good condition, and that confidence was well founded!

“Once we had the fountain installed it solved all of our problems within a couple of weeks,” says Kevin. “You could see the improvement pretty much immediately, which definitely gave us peace of mind we’d made the right choice.”

The club excavated the lakes itself, not just to create beautiful surroundings for golfers, but to give themselves a source of water for irrigation purposes. With the Otterbine aerating fountain, the water is a good enough quality to use for irrigation across the course and without having to rely on the mains water supply, the club has saved money and gained peace of mind from its ability to be self-reliant, which “has been a real bonus” says Kevin.

During its time at the club, the fountain has performed brilliantly, and Kevin doesn’t expect that to change. “The fountain hasn’t let us down yet, and it’s over a decade old! We have routine inspections anyway and knowing we have the back-up from Otterbine and its distributor Reesink Turfcare should we need it is enough to guarantee peace of mind.”

He concludes: “The Otterbine fountain has not only been one of the best investments we’ve made, it’s part of the scenery here at Ladbrook Park. It’s cost effective to run and has proven itself to be a really reliable product which is quite literally at the heart of the course.”
