Expanded GreenMech fleet for Woodworks Tree Surgery

Expanded GreenMech fleet for Woodworks Tree Surgery: For Nick Hosking it’s Woodworks by name and woodworks by nature as he tackles all manner of tree surgery tasks – with the trusted assistance of two GreenMech woodchippers!

The most recent addition to his fleet is an EVO 205D SAFE-Trak, which was purchased on the GreenMech stand at APF in September, and sits alongside the QuadTrak 160 for complete versatility on both domestic and commercial jobs.

Nick established the company 20 years ago and works with, and as, a subcontractor for a number of clients in and around Flintshire, North Wales and NW England including large-scale construction contracts for Hanson UK and the Breedon Group. “I’ve used chippers from GreenMech for the last seven years now, starting with a turntable QuadTrak 160 and trailer which caught my eye at APF many years ago and gives me enhanced manoeuvrability and flexibility for tasks on the kerbside” explains Nick. “Impressed with the performance of this machine, I then invested in a SAFE-Trak 19-28 as a bigger, more versatile workhorse.”

It was again at APF that Nick sealed the deal on his latest purchase, a 205D SAFE-Trak from GreenMech’s EVO series, purchased through dealers GA Groundcare. “Going from the 19-28 model to the 205D SAFE-Trak was a natural progression – this machine is newer, bigger, more reliable and more powerful.” At its heart is a Stage-V Compliant 50hp Kubota diesel engine, delivering powerful chipping performance for bulky brash and timber of up to 8”. Underneath the robust, steel chassis is GreenMech’s patented SAFE-Trak system which incorporates two independently adjustable track legs providing ground clearance of up to 530mm and allows the safe traversing of slopes up to 35o.

“With GreenMech you know you’re going to get machines that do exactly what they say on the tin. Having said that, there’s a few new features on the EVO 205D I really like namely the more powerful throw and the Smart Sense controller which automatically reduces engine revs and then ramps them up again when you start feeding material in. It’s also much quicker and easier to service. Since taking delivery in October 2022 it’s been on jobs of all shapes and sizes, most recently a roadside clearance project for Hanson, and it’s taken everything in its stride.”

He continues, “Together with the performance, the thing that keeps me coming back to GreenMech is the people. I know if I come across an issue, there are three or four people I can phone who are all very knowledgeable and will go out of their way to resolve it for you. Back up support and service like that goes a long way in this industry.”

Their all-encompassing client-base has embraced the GreenMech range since they took on the franchise in 2016, and with a large after-sales and service division they are well placed to support new and existing customers.

In order to develop the sales and after sales support across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, GreenMech have appointed leading agricultural machinery suppliers B&B Tractors. With a range of brands in their portfolio including Fendt, Sany and Honda, the family-run outfit are well connected to a broad client base and will be supporting the GreenMech franchise from their branches in Tideswell and Fauld.

Finally, and completing the re-shuffle, is the appointment of Hopkins Machinery, who will be acting as a Service Support dealer for South Wales based out of their branch in Wentloog, Newport.

Sales Director Martin Lucas commented, “Service is a critical part of the GreenMech offering, meaning we are always reviewing our distribution partners to ensure the very best support for our customers. We are confident that these changes will enhance our aftersales offering and extend our reach to new clients across these counties.”

Five stars for GreenMech CS 80

Five stars for GreenMech CS 80: “Five stars out of five!” – that’s the glowing review of a GreenMech CS 80 from Norfolk-based gardeners Garden Thyme. Since Owner Stephan Jansen took delivery of the 4” pedestrian unit in November 2021, its simplicity of use and speed of processing has transformed residential tree and hedge maintenance, with the CS 80 chipping the woody waste faster than Stephan’s team can prepare it!

The smallest machine in GreenMech’s pedestrian range, the CS 80 delivers compact with compromise – perfect for ‘on the spot’ chipping and jobs in tight spaces. Prior to his CS 80, Stephan was using another make of small chipper which was beginning to struggle with the workload. “It was a nightmare to feed and it would only process material of a certain size… and it took forever to even do that!” he explains. “We ended up having to turn some domestic work down because of the time those sorts of jobs would take up in our diaries which was obviously not ideal.”

Five stars for GreenMech CS 80

Five stars for GreenMech CS 80

“This CS 80 chips so fast and can handle timber and brash of all awkward shapes and sizes making it ideal for all garden jobs but particularly hedge work, which can sometimes be difficult to dispose of. Because of the adjustable flap on the discharge chute, we can angle and control the direction of the chip meaning a lot of customers re-use it as mulch for their flower beds, or alternatively, we can dispose of it into a bulk bag or straight into a garden waste bin.”

At only 760mm wide, the ability to transport the CS 80 to exactly where it’s required has been another major time-saving for Stephan. “We wheel the chipper down pathways and through gates to get it to the centre of the job at hand. Then when the job is complete, we wheel it back and can load it into the van single-handedly using a special winch we had fitted, to take the chipper safely to the next site.”

“Not only is the machine lovely and simple to use, the maintenance of it is also very easy” Stephan explains. “Everything is accessible with the removal of just a couple of bolts meaning we can keep the machine in tip-top condition, with the back-up support of our local dealer Thurlow Nunn Standen if we need it. We look forward to many years of reliable and trouble-free performance.”

Press join GreenMech for update event

Press join GreenMech for update event: Europe’s leading woodchipper manufacturer GreenMech recently invited the industry media to join them at a venue close to their production site in Warwickshire, for an update event with a festive feeling!

The assembled journalists discovered how GreenMech have overcome the numerous challenges encountered since the event last took place five years ago, together with having an opportunity to get hands-on with some of their latest innovations – including the EVO 205D and brand-new EVO 205D SURE-Trak.

In his presentation, Sales Director Martin Lucas outlined three major factors which have all had an impact on business in recent years. The first of which, and perhaps the biggest challenge for the engineering team, was the introduction of Stage V engine compliance. The need to fit new certified Stage V engines required the re-engineering of in the region of 20 GreenMech models – a massive task that he explained required careful consideration to balance customer expectations, unit performance and cost.

While the transition period of Stage V was extended due to COVID-19, the wider impact and knock-on effects of the pandemic were also discussed. With their own dedicated manufacturing facility, Martin detailed how GreenMech endeavour to produce as much as they can themselves, however like a lot of manufacturers, rely on the availability of third-party components – some of which, including hydraulics and electric components, remain in short supply. This meant lead time management was another hurdle GreenMech have had to overcome, with the proactiveness of their dealer network noted in helping to shorten the customers exposure to long delivery times.

The third area discussed was Brexit. With exports accounting for roughly 70% of their business, the implications of the new European guidelines have seen added complexities and a big increase in the amount of paperwork GreeMech need to complete to get a machine to its final destination. However, there are indeed reasons to be chipper, as Martin explained that the appetite for UK manufactured product remains strong, with a keenness from their European distribution partners to remain committed to the brand.

Despite the adversity, the creativity of GreenMech shone through as Martin and members of the marketing team discussed the launch of the highly successful EVO series – with a new market image and approach meaning the EVO now accounts for a significant proportion of all orders placed. First launched at the 2019 Arb Show, the EVO 165D set a new precedent for GreenMech, in terms of the specification which delivered more aggressive torque, bite and throughput. A tracked version, the EVO 165DT followed, then shortly after a 37hp petrol engine was introduced to bring the new EVO 165P into the sub-750kg category. More recently the ‘big brother’ came to market in the form of the EVO 205D – an 8” unit powered by a 50hp Kubota diesel engine.

The newest launch, the EVO 205D SAFE-Trak and SURE-Trak models, provides the operator with ultimate safety and stability when working across slopes of up to 35o. The media became some of the first to see the brand-new EVO 205D SURE-Trak in the flesh as this was lined-up, alongside other models from the EVO range, for a series of working demonstrations.

After getting hands-on, the press were then given an insight into how the machines are made with a step-by-step virtual factory tour. Jonathan Turner, GreenMech Managing Director, closed proceedings by saying “We’re proud of our achievements and how we’ve overcome such a challenging couple of years, but now is the time to be even more positive and excited about our future. We will be continuing to work on industry-leading new products, designed to perform without compromise with the support of a great network of colleagues and dealers around us.”

GreenMech announce EVO 205D SURE-Trak

GreenMech announce EVO 205D SURE-Trak: Following on from the launch of the road-tow version earlier in the year, GreenMech are pleased to announce the introduction of the EVO 205D SURE-Trak.

Continuing the legacy created by their iconic 19-28 SAFE-Trak and SURE-Trak models, the new 8” EVO 205D combines even more aggressive chipping performance with unrivalled climbing ability.

GreenMech announce EVO 205D SURE-Trak

GreenMech’s SURE-Trak system (patent pending) allows each track to be raised or lowered independently on the move, ensuring the machine maintains a horizontal position when climbing or descending slopes. Providing up to 540mm of ground clearance, the 205D SURE-Trak will provide ultimate manoeuvrability for the operator and maximise stability when traversing uneven ground, together with protecting machine components and engine lubrication.

A 50hp, Stage V Compliant Kubota Diesel engine, also means the latest model in the EVO series delivers outstanding processing power, with horizontal rollers and a 6-blade heavy-duty flywheel promising to make light work of bulky brash and timber. In addition, GreenMech’s new ‘Smart Sense’ controller provides no-stress overload protection to ensure optimum chipping performance.

As with the 19-28 SURE-Trak model, the new EVO 205D SURE-Trak comes with a range of factory-fitted optional extras to allow the operator to tailor the final specification of the machine to fit their unique requirements. Amongst the range of additional options are a winch, lighting tower, recovery kit, remote control and fitted toolboxes.

Like the entire GreenMech range, it comes with a no-quibble, three-year parts and labour warranty and can be made purchased conveniently with a range of finance options available through GreenMech Finance.

The EVO 205D SURE-Trak paves the way for more models to follow in the EVO 205 range, including SAFE-Trak and fixed-tracked variants, expected to be available in 2022.

It also features ‘the voice of the customer’, providing visitors with first-hand thoughts and feedback on machines from across the range. For their dealers, they have improved the breadth and depth of resources available which will make the support and marketing of the products easier than ever before.

Commenting on the new site GreenMech Digital Design & Marketing Coordinator Carl Haffield said, “The previous website served its purpose but lacked some important content. Powerful performance from GreenMech

Powerful performance from GreenMech: A stop by the GreenMech stand at SALTEX will provide the first opportunity to see the many developments within their revolutionary EVO Series, since the woodchipper range was first showcased at the 2019 event.

Two of the most recent introductions, the EVO 165P Sub-750 and brand new 8” EVO 205D will take pride of place on stand H055 this November.

Powerful performance from GreenMech

Powerful performance from GreenMech

Introduced in direct response to industry demand for a machine with more powerful bite, torque and throughput, the proven performance delivered by the EVO 165 has seen it cement its position in the 6” chipper market. Now, the key features of the series including wide infeed chute, twin horizontal rollers, all steel bonnet and heavy-duty flywheel have been combined with the powerful, yet economic 37hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard petrol engine with the launch of the EVO 165P Sub-750.

To meet the requirements of even more of today’s arborists and landscapers, the 165P Sub-750 has also been developed to fit within the 750kg weight bracket with a redesigned chassis providing strength and durability, and alterations to its construction and specification without detriment to overall performance.

Extending the EVO concept into the 8” market, the ‘big brother’ in the shape of the EVO 205D will also be making its show debut at this year’s SALTEX. At the heart of the 205D is a Stage V compliant 50hp Kubota diesel engine, powering a heavy-duty flywheel which promises to tackle the biggest tasks fast, with both reliability and ease.

As standard, machines across the EVO collection come with GreenMech’s Disc-Blade chipping technology, a three year, no-quibble parts and labour warranty and the unrivalled support of their nationwide dealer network. GreenMech staff will also be on hand to discuss the flexible finance options available across the entire road-tow, tracked, tractor-powered and pedestrian ranges.

GreenMech Arborist 130 a ‘Pocket Rocket’

GreenMech Arborist 130 a ‘Pocket Rocket’: In such a turbulent year, for Roy Brown of R M Brown Tree Services, when it came to purchasing a new woodchipper there was no better time to stick with what he knows and trusts – exchanging his existing Arborist 130 machine for a brand new Arborist 130 from GreenMech!

The Perthshire-based business have been using GreenMech machines for 10 years, with the newest model proving to be a real ‘pocket rocket’.

GreenMech Arborist 130 a ‘Pocket Rocket’

GreenMech Arborist 130 a ‘Pocket Rocket’

Undertaking both surveying and tree-surgery work for a range of commercial and domestic customers, including in the utilities sector, versatility is a must for Roy when it comes to his equipment. “Every day is different and every job has its own unique requirements and challenges so our woodchipper needs to be the right size to navigate residential areas, for example, but man enough to deal with whatever material we need to put through it.”

“The Arborist 130 is a real pocket rocket – it’s the ideal size for us and handles 95% of our tree surgery jobs. With the popularity of log burners, it’s rare these days to be chipping anything much larger than 3 or 4”, but with this machine capable of processing timber up to 6” we’ve got the capacity to chip all sizes and varieties of woody waste and brash.”

Roy exchanged machines like-for-like, in October 2020 through his local dealer Gammies Groundcare, and, having already put the new unit through its paces, has been impressed with the powerful performance. “The GreenMech machines have always proven themselves to be solidly built and well-engineered, with the disc-blades delivering clean, precise chipping. The Arborist 130 has fantastic pull through, the twin vertical hydraulic rollers take in the material really well reducing the amount of preparation work we need to do.”

Roy adds, “As important as the machine itself is the back-up support and technical advice, which from both GreenMech and Gammies has been excellent. With COVID creating challenges for the delivery of the new unit, Gammies really went the extra mile in supplying us with a loan machine when we needed it which really helped to minimise disruption and reaffirms why, when it comes to upgrading equipment, we go back to GreenMech every time.”

GreenMech Launch Evo 165

GreenMech Launch Evo 165: The ARB Show provided the launch platform for GreenMech to introduce their much-anticipated revolutionary new woodchipper series, the EVO 165. Capitalising on GreenMech’s engineering prowess, this new range has been designed in direct response to industry demands to deliver more aggressive torque, more powerful bite and more throughput.

The EVO 165 combines a wealth of new features, together with some of GreenMech’s proven innovations which have seen their chippers become the preferred choice with many industry professionals. Its wide infeed chute, together with twin horizontal rollers and GreenMech’s ‘No-Stress’ control system mean the Evo 165 efficiently grips timber and brash and controls its lateral movement to provide maximum bite and unparalleled processing power via its new, heavy-duty flywheel and re-flowed exit chute.

GreenMech Launch Evo 165

Optimised outputs from a diesel or petrol engine option provide usable power that matches budget with operational needs, alongside maximum fuel efficiency and compliance with Stage V Emission requirements. The EVO is the quietest machine GreenMech have produced to date, beneficial for both operators and neighbours alike.

Together with improved performance, the aspects of safety, durability and ease of maintenance have also come under the spotlight. GreenMech have fitted the Evo with a new safety bar system to minimise nuisance tripping while offering a better inflow of material. The Evo’s durability has been increased with the adoption of a one-piece fabricated chassis that provides greater strength in even the most demanding of operational conditions. Meanwhile, GreenMech’s patented Disc Blade system continues to provide in excess of 900 chipping hours before replacement.

When maintenance is required, the vertical and horizontal shear bars have been re-engineered to be more accessible and a centralised greasing point has been introduced to make regular servicing easier to carry out.

Commenting on its introduction, Sales Director Martin Lucas said, “As the requirements of today’s arborists continue to evolve, it’s vital that we as manufacturers are listening to them and providing them with the tools to meet their growing demands. The Evo 165 is designed to do just that, with years of developments and trials going on behind the scenes to create our most efficient chipper to date. This launch marks just the beginning of our EVO development programme and we’re expecting this to make a big impression at this year’s Arb Show and beyond.”
