GreenMech Launch Evo 165

GreenMech Launch Evo 165: The ARB Show provided the launch platform for GreenMech to introduce their much-anticipated revolutionary new woodchipper series, the EVO 165. Capitalising on GreenMech’s engineering prowess, this new range has been designed in direct response to industry demands to deliver more aggressive torque, more powerful bite and more throughput.

The EVO 165 combines a wealth of new features, together with some of GreenMech’s proven innovations which have seen their chippers become the preferred choice with many industry professionals. Its wide infeed chute, together with twin horizontal rollers and GreenMech’s ‘No-Stress’ control system mean the Evo 165 efficiently grips timber and brash and controls its lateral movement to provide maximum bite and unparalleled processing power via its new, heavy-duty flywheel and re-flowed exit chute.

Optimised outputs from a diesel or petrol engine option provide usable power that matches budget with operational needs, alongside maximum fuel efficiency and compliance with Stage V Emission requirements. The EVO is the quietest machine GreenMech have produced to date, beneficial for both operators and neighbours alike.

Together with improved performance, the aspects of safety, durability and ease of maintenance have also come under the spotlight. GreenMech have fitted the Evo with a new safety bar system to minimise nuisance tripping while offering a better inflow of material. The Evo’s durability has been increased with the adoption of a one-piece fabricated chassis that provides greater strength in even the most demanding of operational conditions. Meanwhile, GreenMech’s patented Disc Blade system continues to provide in excess of 900 chipping hours before replacement.

When maintenance is required, the vertical and horizontal shear bars have been re-engineered to be more accessible and a centralised greasing point has been introduced to make regular servicing easier to carry out.

Commenting on its introduction, Sales Director Martin Lucas said, “As the requirements of today’s arborists continue to evolve, it’s vital that we as manufacturers are listening to them and providing them with the tools to meet their growing demands. The Evo 165 is designed to do just that, with years of developments and trials going on behind the scenes to create our most efficient chipper to date. This launch marks just the beginning of our EVO development programme and we’re expecting this to make a big impression at this year’s Arb Show and beyond.”

GreenMech Chippers Deliver Reliability

GreenMech Chippers Deliver Reliability: A fleet of GreenMech woodchippers have been fundamental in the successful delivery of large-scale utility arb contracts for South Wales Arborists. Running both tracked and road tow models, Director Stuart Michael and his arb teams are well-equipped to deal with all tree, shrub and woodland projects which ensure the safe management of the power networks.

As approved contractors for Western Power Distribution (WPD), SWA have over 10 years of experience in managing trees in close proximity to overhead lines, both low and high voltage. “Our chippers are the key tools in helping us to deliver the contracts, and the vast array of sites we attend mean we’re often working on a variety of different terrains” explains Stuart. “We’ve used a few different makes of woodchipper over the years but have had various reliability issues and found parts to be expensive so when we made the decision to look around, I got in touch with Julian Cullis of GreenMech.”

GreenMech Chippers Deliver Reliability

“We were immediately impressed with what the GreenMech machines offered and bought our first tracked machine from them roughly 8 years ago.” SWA now have a 9” ChipMaster 220 TMP for large, high-volume projects, two Arborist 150 road-tow machines used predominately on low-voltage street works and, the most recent additions to their fleet, two ArbTrak 150’s for off-road projects and those on challenging ground conditions. Stuart also specified his machines in red livery, the company’s corporate colours.

“These chippers have been brilliant, they’re efficient and chip a range of materials thoroughly and accurately. Though 99% of our workload is utility arb, we have the range of machines now to easily reach a variety of locations and handle material no matter the size.” Stuart is hoping to have fully converted his fleet over to GreenMech machines by the end of this year. “Since the introduction of the first GreenMech chipper all those years ago we’ve never really looked back. We get fantastic support from Julian and look forward to continuing to deliver our contracts, with the help of GreenMech, for many years to come.”

Powerline Services Purchase GreenMech Chippers

Powerline Services Purchase GreenMech Chippers: Running GreenMech woodchippers since 1999, Powerline Services MLJ Ltd and Director Ben Jones have recently taken delivery of their latest additions, two ArbTrak 150’s. A loyal customer to the tracked units since GreenMech launched their first model in 2003, the new machines on their fleet effortlessly traverse all terrains reducing transport time and increasing productivity.

Herefordshire based Powerline Services offer safe, effective and efficient removal of trees and vegetation from powerlines – serving as a sub-contractor on the Scottish and Southern Energy, National Grid and Western Power contracts. “Our woodchippers are our core piece of machinery” explains Ben, “and for the majority of sites we’re operating on, the work calls for a tracked chipper. We’ve always had tracked units from GreenMech but as requirements and the type of materials we’re handling change, we’re constantly reviewing that our fleet is fit for purpose.” So impressed with the Arborist 150 road-tow chipper already on the fleet, the delivery of the two ArbTrak 150’s from Tallis Amos at the end of 2018 came without the need for a demonstration.

Powerline Services Purchase GreenMech Chippers

“The ArbTrak 150’s are a perfect size to handle the brashy material that makes up a large percentage of our projects. We can quickly and conveniently track them to the area of work meaning no time is spent transporting material to the chipper, therefore improving efficiency for my teams.” The highly manoeuvrable tracked chassis of the ArbTrak 150 provides high ground clearance of 274mm and a tracking speed of 3kph. Fitted with a 34hp diesel engine, it is a popular choice with contractors and those maintaining difficult terrain, requiring maximum traction and minimal ground pressure.

Not only are Ben and his teams on the road hugely impressed with the quality and performance of the woodchippers, they’re also reassured by the after-sales service. “We’ve had experiences with other manufacturers in the past where they offered us a good deal, but the support we received after we’d taken delivery was very poor. In my opinion the back-up support from GreenMech is unbeatable, and when you’ve got contracts to deliver on, that’s invaluable.”

GreenMech QuadChip Lightens The Load

GreenMech QuadChip Lightens The Load: Housing association Karbon Homes is responsible for the management and maintenance of almost 30,000 properties, making it one of the largest organisations of its kind in the North East and Yorkshire. As part of a business partnership with the Byker Community Trust (BCT), Karbon Homes provide BCT with a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Team, responsible for the upkeep of the Grade II* Listed Byker Estate. Helping Grounds Maintenance Officer Dan Thompson and his team of five with the woodland maintenance is a QuadChip 160 from GreenMech.

The summer sees the majority of the Byker team’s time taken up with grass cutting but in the winter the maintenance programme switches over to include leaf clearance, tree work and shrub maintenance. “As well as over 2,500 trees, there are lots of hedgerows and open spaces that all require upkeep” explains Dan, who has been with Karbon Homes for two and a half years. “As the estate was constructed in the 1970’s, it’s quite complex in nature with tight spaces in which to manoeuvre any equipment we purchase.”

GreenMech QuadChip Lightens The Load

“My manager suggested we looked at the QuadChip because of its turntable, giving the operator discretion over the direction of the chip and improving manoeuvrability and safety. Peter Bagguley from GreenMech came in to do the demo and there were a number of factors that confirmed it was going to be the right machine for the estate. Firstly, and importantly, it’s under 750kg meaning all the guys can tow and operate it without an additional licence. The hopper is a generous size meaning it can handle larger timber than similar models, and it was also quieter than other chippers we’ve used which is great for working earlier in urban areas.” Following the successful demonstration, Dan took delivery of his GreenMech QuadChip 160 in March 2018, from their local dealer Lloyd Ltd.

Prior to its purchase, Dan and the team were borrowing a chipper from another Karbon Grounds Maintenance Team. “Having our own machine means it’s there and ready for any response jobs through the summer, and then in use daily for all of the winter maintenance. My team really have their work cut out and having the QuadChip has made the busy winter period that much easier.”

GreenMech At APF 2018

GreenMech At APF 2018: Europe’s top-selling wood chipper manufacturer GreenMech will have a vast range of machinery on display on stand 80-110, in the outside area, at this years APF exhibition. In addition, visitors will also have the opportunity to find out about a number of special deals and flexible finance options available exclusively at the show.

Next year sees the introduction of new, more stringent Stage V emissions standards covering diesel engines above 26hp, so a particular highlight on the GreenMech stand will be the petrol-powered Arborist 130 and Arborist 150p models. The Arb 150p is fitted with a 37hp Briggs & Stratton Petrol engine which can offer comparable performance to the higher horse-powered diesel engines, but at a much-reduced cost. For those users who prefer diesel power however, GreenMech’s popular Arborist 150 powered by a Kubota 26hp engine, remains in the range and is unaffected by the new regulations.
