New heavy duty hedge trimmers from EGO

New heavy duty hedge trimmers from EGO: Battery-powered outdoor power equipment specialist, EGO Power Plus, is giving gardening and groundscare professionals the cordless long-reach hedge trimmers they need to cut more with less effort.

The HTX5300 hedge trimmer range is available in two versions – and both have variable cutting speeds from 3200 – 4,000 strokes per minute, allowing for maximum user control.

Both models also have triple-sharpened blades featuring a cutting edge on the front, back and side, this design creates score marks on larger branches to prevent slipping when the branch enters the cutting zone.

The HTX5300-P is a short-reach pole hedge trimmer with 53cm cutting head and excellent tool balance. The HTX5300-PA has a longer pole, plus the ability to angle the head for increased manoeuvrability. It also comes with a front loop handle, enabling the operator to use it safely for trimming above head height. An adjustable harness point ensures better comfort for a full day’s work.

The long-reach version enables professional users to cut more with less effort, allowing tall and deep hedges to be cut in a single sweep and without the need to use ladders while the carbon fibre shafts make the tools lightweight and durable.

Chris Buck, Product Manager at EGO, said: “These long-reach hedge trimmers bring the benefits of EGO’s battery technology to professionals who need their tools to have high performance and work remotely all day.

“Robust and durable, with swap-out batteries and a portable charging solution, the HTX5300 hedge trimmers are ideal for heavier-duty applications in groundscare, gardening and facilities management.”

Designed specifically for the rigours of work by contractors and local authorities, both models feature three speeds for different trimming and cutting tasks, a variable trigger for precise cutting control and a rear-geared motor compatible with all portable EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries. They are also IoT-ready thanks to a built-in Bluetooth module.

The HTX5300 range is part of the new Pro X series of hard-wearing and powerful tools for professionals, which also includes a lawn mower, grass trimmers, brush cutters, a chainsaw and our next-generation PGX battery charging solution.

STIHL launches new cordless hedge trimmer

STIHL launches new cordless hedge trimmer: STIHL has added a new cordless hedge trimmer to its popular AP System range, offering landscaping professionals excellent cutting performance, a rotating handle and improved user comfort.

Alongside the impressive performance, the HSA 100 also offers high levels of operator comfort. The new hedge trimmer is comfortable to hold, balanced in operation and features a rotating rear handle that locks into three positions across a 1800 range, helping to reduce wrist strain when working for long periods of time. Furthermore, the trigger is located on the inside of the front loop handle for increased comfort in all positions.

Additional operator comfort features include quiet operation, meaning the hedge trimmer can be used without ear defenders, as well as an improved anti-vibration system that offers significantly lower vibration compared to the HSA 86.

To combat potential jamming of the blades, especially when working on thick material, the HSA 100 features an innovative anti-blocking system that reverses the motors rotational direction to unblock the blades, minimising product downtime and enhancing the efficiency of the tool.

The HSA 100 is powered by STIHL’s AP battery system, offering up to 150 minutes run time on a single charge when used with the recommended AP 200 battery.

Thanks to the EC motor, rapid acceleration of the blades is achieved for optimum performance, and the tool can be used in wet conditions to minimise downtime. The 115º swivelling cutter bar allows user to achieve top, side and bottom cuts easily, whilst the blade is also sharpened on both sides for efficient cutting in any direction. Additionally, the cutter blade can be folded flat for improved user safety and space saving when transporting the tool.

Both of the models feature a new ergonomic control handle and a self-resetting locking lever in combination with the Ergo lever for an intuitive start-up process. This design also ensures that the tool is comfortable to use whether right-handed or left-handed and features anti-slip protection for further safety and comfort.

The HLA 66 is available with a loop handle and shaft grip for ergonomic working helping users trim closer to where they are standing, whilst the HLA 86 offers a telescopic alternative for a longer reach. With an adjustable length of 260cm – 330cm, users can easily find the best working position using the HLA 86, whilst the square shaft design prevents against twisting and deflection allowing for precise positioning even at full extension.

Both the HLA 66 and HLA 86 can be used with STIHL’s high-performance 36V AP battery system for professional use and are compatible with a number of accessories, including a mounting base, carrying system, clamp for the telescopic shaft and catcher plate for the cutting blade.
