INFINICUT® mowers enter Home Park two by two

INFINICUT® mowers enter Home Park two by two: A recent upgrade to the mower fleet at Plymouth Argyle Football Club has seen the delivery of two INFINICUT® 34” FX cylinders and two SM34 rotary mowers to the club’s stadium pitch at Home Park.

Together with outstanding quality of cut and first-class presentation, Head Groundsman Chris Ralph also cites the improvements in consistency achieved with their mowing operations thanks to the industry-leading INFINIApp™.

The investment has been on the cards for the last 18 months, which gave Chris and his team of five ample time to compare and contrast the options available. “We’d been using two INFINICUT® fixed head cylinders and were always happy with those – they’re reliable and comfortable to use, with minimal noise and vibrations. We found nothing that could better those” he explains. “On the rotary front, we demonstrated various models and were impressed with the performance and finish of the SM34’s, the ease of height adjustment compared to competitor machines and the side placement of the grass bucket which means it’s not hitting your legs all the time!”

With the decision made, the fleet was delivered by Andy White and Paul Curgenven of Shinners Bridge Garden Machinery and INFINICUT’s Mark Clifford-Kennedy in February 2024. “Andy, Paul and Mark left no stone unturned when they dropped the machines off. They went through every detail of the machines, guided us through set-up and demonstrated the full functionality of the INFINIApp™.” Chris continues, “The Bluetooth control is a great feature. We can quickly and easily set reel speed, clip rates and more, and share settings between machines to give us greater consistency than we’ve ever achieved before.”

In addition to the cylinder and rotary mowers, the club also purchased a pair of ThatchMasterTM cassettes from the TMSystem™. “I’ve been looking at these for a while! Our ProPitch reports were identifying an increase in thatch levels over the last 12 months and our only way of trying to combat that previously was with a tractor and rake. We equipped our 34” machines with the ThatchMasterTM cassettes for a first pass in mid-March and the results were outstanding! We each removed three or four boxes of unwanted organic matter, and the pitch looked healthier immediately.”

“The whole team have been really impressed, with not just the INFINICUT® machines themselves but the support and service we’ve had from Shinners Bridge along the way. We’re now well placed to further drive up the standards of our stadium pitch, along with our neighbouring first-team training surfaces too.”

INFINICUT® fleet impresses at Coventry City

INFINICUT® fleet impresses at Coventry City: It’s been an exciting two years for Dale Gregory since he joined Coventry City Football Club as their new Head of Grounds & Facilities.

Not only has he overseen the significant expansion of the club’s Sky Blue Lodge Training Ground and Alan Higgs Academy Site, but investment has also resulted in the purchase of first-class equipment to maintain it! Among his new fleet are a trio of INFINICUT® SM34 Rotary mowers and another three FL34 cylinders, helping to deliver year-round presentation and outstanding quality of cut.

Dale leads a team of six, responsible for looking after the surfaces across the two sites. “At the Sky Blue Lodge we have two and a half hybrid pitches that are for the first-team and four natural pitches at the Alan Higgs centre for the academy” he explains. “The construction of the pitches at Sky Blue Lodge is identical to that at the stadium – and we maintain it as such – to give the players the same experience they’re going to get when it comes to match day.” Consistency and familiarity was also what led Dale to the INFINICUT’s, having used these in his previous role at the King Power Stadium.

“The quality of cut and presentation, particularly striping, produced by the INFINICUT® range is one of the best I’ve seen.” With this in mind, Dale opted for a fleet comprised of three SM34 rotary’s and three FL34 cylinder mowers, delivered by Martin Shepherd of George Browns Ltd in February 2023. “Throughout the winter, training is still happening every day so we use the Rotary’s to follow up with a clean-up cut, maintaining the height and removing debris. When we don’t have training, we’ll employ the services of the cylinders to sharpen up the cut and further boost presentation levels.”

He continues, “Not only are we getting the aesthetics we want, the fact they’re also electric was another major reason we opted for INFINICUT®, as we look to improve our operations on the sustainability front. As well as reducing emissions and vibration levels, they’re quiet, which means we can mow one pitch while players are training on the other.”

The club also took delivery of a pair of SpringRake™ and ThatchMaster™ cassettes from the TMSystem™ to quickly and easily equip into their FL34’s. “Grooming is essential for keeping the plant healthy and doing it with the INFINICUT® means we can keep unnecessary weight off the pitches. These operations will be conducted regularly throughout the spring and autumn and play an important part in our overall maintenance programme.”

This foundation set Alan up nicely for further positions in operational management within the sports turf and leisure industry. INFINICUT® return to BTME

INFINICUT® return to BTME: The INFINICUT® stand at BTME 2023 was awash with new products developed specifically to meet the exacting requirements for modern golf course management.

2024 promises to be no different, with the INFINICUT 22” FL and golf cutting unit taking centre stage on stand 614 – showcasing the very best in cut quality, technological advancement and operator experience thanks to industry-leading innovations such as the ‘tilt and turn’ feature.

Twelve months on from making its debut, the promise made by the INFINICUT® 22” golf cutting unit to be the most balanced mower for achieving low heights of cut is now proving itself with a number of customers in the field. Engineered to suit the specific set of requirements needed for fine turf, this new floating head model delivers accuracy and cleanliness of cut and unparalleled contour following ability when married to the INFINICUT® traction unit. With the focus firmly on finish, the cutting unit is equipped with INFINICUT’s SMARTCut™ reel – produced in-house and dynamically balanced for ultimate accuracy.

Appreciating that every golf course is different and the fact that course managers don’t necessarily follow the same maintenance doctrine, the INFINICUT® offers the ability to quickly and easily alter a range of mower parameters via the InfiniApp™. Settings can also be stored for retrieval and/or simultaneously sent wirelessly to multiple machines in a fleet, reducing time and all-but eliminating differentiation between mowers.

One InfiniApp™ feature that has proven extremely popular with operators is ‘tilt and turn’. At the end of line turn, a sensor automatically detects that the mower is lifted and slows the unit down to a prechosen percentage of walk speed. Each individual operator can choose a slow-down rate that they are comfortable with and, when dropped back to the mow position, the regular mowing speed is engaged.

Further convenience is delivered to the operator thanks to the dedicated INFINICUT® trailer, offering the swift and safe transportation of 22” and 26” units between greens.

The technical team will be on hand across the three days to discuss the full INFINICUT® pedestrian range, together with the TMSystem™ collection of grooming, mowing and maintenance cassettes which transforms the INFINICUT® or mainstream models of multi-gang mower into units for complete turf refinement.

INFINICUT® return to SALTEX

INFINICUT® return to SALTEX: ATT will be making a popular return to SALTEX this November, showcasing the latest advancements across their INFINICUT® and TMSystem™ ranges on stand H070.

It’s been another busy twelve months for the company, with refinements in line-ups and a vast array of new features incorporated into both the hardware and software of their industry-leading pedestrian mower collection.

The company have been utilising BLDC motor technology in the INFINICUT® for the last few years, which has now been developed and enhanced to boast even greater efficiency, torque and smoothness. While the original motor could not be considered noisy, one of the most evident advantages of the new upgrade is the noticeably quieter operation. A multi-connector has also now been eliminated from the motor design, further improving reliability.

Upgrades have also been made within the InfiniApp, which continues to evolve as a result of customer feedback. Several new features have been added to the app in recent months, including a new fleet management function which has proven to be a big hit with customers managing large INFINICUT® fleets. This function enables an operator to quickly and simply save any preferred parameter setting and send it simultaneously to every mower in the fleet – resulting in huge time savings. The ability to modify acceleration and braking feel has also been well received.

Another update being rolled out by the INFINICUT® team is their state-of-the-art auto-slow down feature. From the InfiniApp, users can select a percentage of their chosen walk speed to slow the mower for end-of-line turning. Simply lift the mower in the normal way for a turn and the speed will reduce automatically. On dropping the cutting unit back down for the next pass, the mower will seamlessly speed back up without the need to use the throttle.

Among other enhancements is the ability for wireless firmware updates to take place. New versions of firmware will be downloaded in the latest updates from the App store which can then be uploaded to newer machines via Bluetooth.

The new additions to the InfiniApp will be demonstrated first-hand by the INFINICUT® technical team, who will be on hand to answer all of your questions and discuss all of the machinery upgrades on stand H070 this November.
