Fisco Farm & Garden Machinery Joins Etesia Dealer Network

Fisco Farm & Garden Machinery Joins Etesia Dealer Network: Etesia UK is delighted to announce that Fisco Farm & Garden Machinery, a long-standing family business based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, has officially become the latest dealer for Etesia products.

The partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Fisco, enabling the company to expand its commercial product offerings while reinforcing Etesia’s presence in the region.

Fisco Farm & Garden Machinery has been a family-run business in Wakefield for over 60 years. Founded by Clifford Broadhead as Farmers Ironmongery Supply Co, it later expanded to meet the changing needs of the agricultural industry. Today, Fisco continues to evolve, now offering leading brands like Etesia to enhance its product range for both domestic and commercial clients.

Ryan Powala-Higgins, Manager of Fisco Farm & Garden Machinery, explained that becoming an Etesia dealer is a strategic move to grow the company’s commercial opportunities. “We are a single branch, and for a long time we were predominantly in the domestic market,” said Ryan. “But over the past few years, we’ve started to take on more commercial products to boost sales in that area. We felt like we were missing out, and that’s why we decided to take on Etesia.”

Etesia, a company known for high-quality grass-cutting equipment since 1989, has become a key player in both the professional and domestic markets. Their extensive product range includes walk-behind and ride-on mowers, brush cutters, and innovative green technology solutions, such as the award-winning ET Lander electric utility vehicle. Fisco’s decision to partner with Etesia aligns with the growing demand for reliable, high-performance commercial machinery that can handle the toughest conditions.

Ryan added that Etesia had been on their radar for some time: “We’ve known about Etesia for a while. There was a bit of a gap in our portfolio, and a lot of customers were asking about the brand. We’ve always known the products are good.”

Ryan credited Etesia UK’s Business Development Manager, Stephen Muir, for making the dealership process smooth and efficient. “Stephen came out to see us and he was very accommodating. The whole company is a pleasure to deal with. We appreciate that Etesia is willing to come and talk to us face-to-face. It’s refreshing in a time when so much business is done online.”

Part of the appeal of Etesia, Ryan explained, is their focus on mowers that perform exceptionally well in all weather conditions—especially when it comes to grass collection.

“Etesia’s ability to collect grass even in wet conditions is a key selling point for landscapers, grounds maintenance companies, and local councils,” Ryan shared. “In terms of collection, nothing beats Etesia.”

Among the products that have already caught Fisco’s attention are the Etesia Hydro 80 ride-on mower and the 18-inch pedestrian mowers, which Ryan described as “perfect machines” for their customer base. “The feedback we’ve had from clients who already own Etesia machines is overwhelmingly positive. They say these are the machines to have.”

Looking ahead, Ryan expressed enthusiasm about the future of Fisco’s partnership with Etesia. “We’re very excited about what’s to come,” he said.

Former Leyland Golf Club course manager joins BIGGA team

Former Leyland Golf Club course manager joins BIGGA team: The British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) has appointed Scott Reeves as Head of Membership, overseeing the development of the association’s membership activities.

Scott, 53, was formerly the course manager at Leyland Golf Club, where he spent 17 years. He began his greenkeeping career at Wycombe Heights Golf Club, Buckinghamshire, followed by spells at Stock Brook Country Club in Essex and Chobham Golf Club in Surrey, before relocating to Lancashire in 2003. He spent three years at Preston Golf Club before a one-year stint with Saxon Industries in a sales role. He then returned to course management at Leyland Golf Club in 2007.

Scott has volunteered at every level of BIGGA, culminating in his appointment as chairperson of the association in 2019. The COVID pandemic hit during Scott’s term and he worked closely alongside BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton, the BIGGA staff and National Board as the association navigated the turbulence of that period, ensuring BIGGA was well-placed to offer support and guidance wherever required.

Following his term as chairperson, Scott retained an involvement with BIGGA and still lectures on the Golf Club Management Diploma, jointly run by the GCMA, PGA and BIGGA. He was also a part of the Committee for Golf Club Salaries for many years.

Following a recent restructure, the Head of Membership position has been created by BIGGA. Scott will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of the association’s membership strategy, as well as taking on a senior leadership role within the organisation. He will work closely with all BIGGA departments to ensure the association is fulfilling its responsibility to members, while seeking to evolve BIGGA’s activities and offering.

Scott said: “What attracted me to this job is it is such a huge opportunity. One of the things I really valued in my time as a greenkeeper volunteer with BIGGA was the chance to make the world a better place for greenkeepers, as we always say. With a little time away, focusing on my own job as a greenkeeper, it’s helped me see just what a valuable resource BIGGA is.

“What I’d say to BIGGA members is that another one of us has joined the association. I’m someone who understands you and understands your challenges as I’ve faced many of them myself. We’re here to help you, to serve you and to make sure that you can access everything BIGGA has to offer, to build a better career for yourself and a stronger industry for everyone.”

BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton said: “We worked hard to identify the correct candidate for this position and we put all the applicants through rigorous testing as the Head of Membership will play a key role in shaping the future of the association for years to come.

“We had some outstanding applications but Scott’s passion for greenkeeping and belief in the value BIGGA brings to the industry shone through. He has been involved with committee work at all levels, including chairing the association from 2019 to 2022, a period which included the COVID pandemic and was therefore one of the most challenging of any in our history.

“I’m excited that Scott has joined the Association and look forward to embarking on what I believe is the next chapter in BIGGA’s history.”

A video of Scott discussing his new role and ambitions for the future is available to watch online here.

Commenting on his appointment, Rupert Price, Managing Director of Price Turfcare, said,

“We are delighted to have secured Tom’s services; he is a very welcome addition to our sales team. His sales record at RT Machinery was second to none and that can be seen by his 2019 dealer sales award. He fully understands the attributes of the machine and its accessories and his knowledge of the golf and groundscare industries across the south of England is superb, with the added bonus that he is well respected across his territory.
