Kubota announces further market expansion

Kubota announces further market expansion: Kubota (UK) Ltd is pleased to announce that Lister Wilder is to further expand its operation with the addition of OEM engine supply from its Ashford, Guildford and Reading branches, for customers operating Kubota powered machinery.

This latest addition makes Lister Wilder the first full-line Kubota dealer in Europe, and follows the recent announcement that the family-run dealership is to refocus entirely on the Kubota brand having already secured business with agriculture, groundcare and construction divisions.

“This expansion further strengthens Kubota’s commitment to its customers and the markets in which we operate,” explains David Hart, managing director of Kubota (UK). “As a full-line dealer, Lister Wilder will be in a very strong position to make the future investments required in facilities, technology and staff, to actively support our customers throughout these important industry sectors.”

Having successfully represented Kubota from its branches in Ashford, Guildford, Reading and Cirencester, the firm’s next phase of expansion is impressive. A multi-million pound investment plan will see the first of its new Kubota centres designed and built during 2021, along with the planned redevelopment of existing depots, starting with its Reading premises.

It is expected that the business expansion plans will also create a host of new jobs within sales, after-sales and service, plus parts and warranty departments, stimulating the local ecomonies in which Lister Wilder operates.

“Lister Wilder is delighted to have received the entire Kubota franchise, to operate across its branches, which extend across the southern part of the country,” says company director and co-owner Charlie King. “This strategic move allows us to focus our efforts on delivering expert service and aftersales support across all divisions. Our ambitions are now completely in line with that of Kubota and that makes for a very strong partnership and an exciting future.”

“Around 50% of our business was already Kubota related with groundcare and construction products, and the addition of Kubota’s agricultural and engine divisions gives us huge potential to grow the Kubota brand across our region,” he added.

Lister Wilder is a wholly-owned family business that was established in 1947. Now in its third generation, the company has evolved to become a well-known and well-respected name throughout the industry, recently winning the Service Dealer’s agricultural and groundcare Dealer of the Year awards. Its Kubota groundcare business dates back to 1995, and was followed by expansion with Kubota construction equipment in 2001. Its first Kubota centre was created three years ago in Ashford, Kent, and forms the blueprint for future development.

Winter-ready with Kubota

Winter-ready with Kubota: With the worst of the winter weather ahead, there’s nothing more reassuring than knowing that roads and footpaths have been cleared of snow and ice before setting out in the morning.

Since 2003, Vale Engineering (York) Ltd has been manufacturing winter maintenance equipment from its base at York, with products built in-house from sheet steel upwards. The company also offers a specialist winter equipment seasonal hire service to local authorities, providing complete solutions from mounted and trailed gritters to de-icing sprayers and snowploughs, carefully matched with compact tractors.

Having used a range of brands in the past, Vale Engineering has now switched to an all-Kubota fleet, adding 15 new B-series and L-series tractors for the 2020 season.

“Our priorities are high residual values and good dealer back-up and that’s exactly what we get with Kubota,” explains managing director James Wilson. “Tractors stay in the fleet for four years, and are hired out for a 20 week period. While they don’t clock up that many hours, they have to be reliable to go out every day and work in all weathers and we are also fortunate to have excellent support from Russell’s.”

Mr Wilson points out that the factory-fitted cab on the B-Series is a major advantage over other compact tractors.

“The cab is purpose-made for the tractor so it fits well and remains tidy through its service life,” he comments.

While one L-series model has a mechanical drive, the majority are hydrostatic, which makes for easy operation for hirers.

“Apart from the de-icing sprayers,  most of the equipment is hydraulically driven, and the B-series tractors have plenty of hydraulic capacity, with the straightforward cab layout making it simple to operate implements.”

With its own workshops, Vale Engineering carries out most of the maintenance and servicing in-house, and Mr Wilson comments that the tractors are straightforward to work on.

“Buying tractors is very much a business decision, and combined with the dealer back-up, Kubota makes business sense for us,” he says.

Kubota celebrates 130th anniversary

Kubota celebrates 130th anniversary: In these challenging times we express our solidarity with all our customers, employees, suppliers and distribution partners.

We thank all those of you who are on the front-lines helping others; like farmers who make sure that we have food or healthcare and medical professionals who take care of all those who are suffering. Kubota is #OnYourSide and we will be there long-term to support you.

Kubota celebrates 130th anniversary

Kubota celebrates 130th anniversary

Kubota’s journey started in 1890, by manufacturing Japan’s first iron pipelines for waterworks. Its founder, Gonshiro Kubota, laid the foundations of a company that is now one of the major players in the industry. Starting off as a foundry, Kubota would soon become a benchmark company in the global agriculture, construction and water-related industries.

Over time, the company expanded its business along with its range of services and products. In 1922 it started producing kerosene-driven engines for agro-industrial use, where it achieved significant progress in the field. Later on, in the 1960’s, the company launched its range of tractors for dry-field farming, before beginning work on water supply projects and sewage systems. In 1974, Kubota introduced its own compact mini excavator, making ground breaking work easier for all. By 1998, Kubota had extended its agricultural machinery business further as part of its internationalisation strategy, and had also established a manufacturing and sales operation in China.

The world today faces various serious issues. Kubota constantly accepts the challenge to sustain the future of our society and today represents one of the leading machinery manufacturers, becoming a reference for companies across the globe. Its product offering covers multiple areas such as farming, construction, and also water supply systems. The Japanese company is also the world´s leading manufacturer of compact diesel and gasoline engines for industrial, agricultural, construction and generator applications. Aside from this, Kubota’s technological solutions applied to farmwork, such as the Autonomous Tractor and the Kubota Bi-speed system, have significantly improved and simplified the work of operators worldwide.

Moreover, Kubota is highly committed to the protection of the environment and helping to address global water and food scarcity issues. Its engines, lawn mowers and compact construction equipment, precision equipment and materials contribute to urban maintenance.

On top of this, Kubota employs its technologies, expertise and acquired knowledge to develop and commercialise products manufactured in Japan’s globally renowned water infrastructure industry with the aim of protecting the Earth’s limited resources and deliver clean, safe water to everyone around the world.

Mr. Yuichi Kitao, President and Representative Director of Kubota Corporation recently highlighted the core values of the company as a tribute to its founder: “On the occasion of our 130th anniversary, it would be amiss of us to not remind ourselves of our founding principles and that “there will be no growth without innovation.”

Special mention was made to the two main values of Kubota philosophy today: “One Kubota” and “On Your Side.” According to Mr. Kitao: “ ‘One Kubota’, is the core belief that every member of the company is essential to our group, and to be ‘On Your Side,’ means that each and every employee must reconsider what we do each day, ensure we are incorporating the needs of the market into all our products and services, and look at it through the eyes or perspective of the customer.”

As a result, given Kubota’s long history and evolution, it is important to remember its origins, where the company was at the beginning, and where it is going. Kubota will continue to work as it has been doing for 130 years to provide the best quality and most appropriate products and services, whilst guaranteeing environmental protection in order to leave a better world for tomorrow’s generation. By means of innovation, research, and most significantly by communicating efficiently with its customers, the company will remain true to its motto “For Earth, For Life”.
