The project aimed to revamp several key areas within the school grounds. The Early Learning area received a makeover with the installation of sleepers and topsoil to build up the existing digging play pit. Playbark was installed to augment the safety and aesthetics of the playground climbing area, creating a cleaner and more inviting space for children to enjoy. The wildflower seeds will create a vibrant ‘mini-meadow’ in the front garden, fostering biodiversity and supporting insect habitats.

Nick Oswald, Headteacher at Great Ouseburn Community Primary School, expressed gratitude for Green-tech’s support, stating, “We were delighted to receive support from Green-tech with a kind donation of materials for our outdoor learning and play areas. Green-tech staff listened to what we needed and offered several suggestions. Along with one of their manufacturers, Scotbark, they provided a huge quantity of fabulous, attractive, high-quality play bark, which not only makes our Early Years outdoor learning area and play equipment safer to use, but cleaner and more inviting for all children. It is now a fun place to learn, and it is noticeable how much more it is used since the bark delivery!

Early Years have also now got a planting pit where we can grow plants, fruit and flowers, learning how to make things grow. Green-tech has also provided wildflower seeds for our ‘mini-meadow’, which we will use to encourage and support insect habitats, including bees. None of this would be possible without their support so a big thank you to Green-tech.”

Green-tech’s Managing Director Kris Nellist adds, “I am thrilled to be able to help improve the learning environment for some local children. Green-tech’s involvement in the project is part of the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and giving back to the community. By donating materials to revamp the school’s outdoor spaces, we hope to create an interest and appreciation, and encourage environmental stewardship from an early age.”

New purchase for NJ Pacey Landscaping: NJ Pacey Landscaping Ltd of Crowland near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, has purchased a Becx HS131HR hedge cutting head and WLA60 loader arm combination from UK importer, Fentons of Bourne. Adam Quant, a director of the 35-year-old family-run business says,

“I saw the Avant and Becx combination a couple of years ago and was impressed with its capabilities. Fentons have been a trusted business partner for many years and have supplied two of the three Avants that we have operated on our fleet.

“We have a small staff of eight, so any mechanised solution is welcome. We would normally use flails for our hedge work or resort to hand cutting where presentation is paramount. The flail heads tend to leave a very rough finish, but this Becx HS131 has a very good cutting and mulching action, leaving a very acceptable finish, so it’s ideal for prestige contracts that demand high level of presentation. The mounting arm can be extended by 60 cm and tilted by 105 degrees providing the manoeuvrability to trim a wide range of hedges.”

N J Pacey Landscaping was founded in 1987 by Norman Pacey and in 1999 became a limited company. Operating across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Norfolk, they provide landscaping, groundscare and arboricultural services to domestic and commercial customers.  In 2011 Norman’s daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Adam, a qualified arboriculturalist, joined the company.

EVO 165DT keeps S P Tree & Landscaping on track

EVO 165DT keeps S P Tree & Landscaping on track: Wiltshire based S P Tree & Landscaping have recently taken delivery of a brand-new EVO 165DT woodchipper from GreenMech, to keep pace with growing demand from commercial customers.

After running a GreenMech SAFE-Trak unit for several years, Owner Steven Parker decided to invest in the 6” EVO 165DT to benefit from increased processing power – on par with the performance of their existing 8” road-tow machine!

With a client base ranging from domestic customers to commercial outfits, parish councils and building firms, S P Tree & Landscaping often require a tracked chipper for speed and ease of access. Steven explained, “I looked around at the tracked offerings from various manufacturers and was almost ready to commit to another brand when Ashley Stevens of GA Groundcare Ltd demoed the EVO 165DT for us. I was really impressed by the brute strength and performance of it, which, combined with the after-sales support we’ve always had from GA Groundcare Ltd, sealed the deal.”

The addition of twin-drive horizontally extending tracks makes the EVO 165DT the perfect ‘go-anywhere’ woodchipper. The track system provides ground clearance of 194mm and a tracking speed of 3.2kph to provide the operator with optimal manoeuvrability and stability when working on uneven ground. As with the other models in the GreenMech EVO series, the 165DT features a wide infeed chute, twin horizontal feed rollers and a heavy-duty flywheel which delivers unparalleled processing power for a machine in its category.

“The work that’s gone into the new EVO range is evident” Steven explains. “A lot of thought around the design and the accessibility of all the controls has made the EVO 165DT incredibly user-friendly – all of my team love using it. The position of the infeed controls in particular make a huge difference, and the ability to reverse bulky material out is great. Compared to our SAFE-Trak, it’s also smaller and lighter to navigate when on site.”

He adds, “Since we took delivery of this machine in September 2021, it’s processed everything we’ve needed it to and performance-wise, it’s been keeping up with our 8” woodchipper which is seriously impressive.”
