Key Features of TreeParker®:

Engineered SuDS Solution: TreeParker® is not just a structural support system for urban trees; it’s a comprehensive sustainable urban drainage system (SuDS) solution that benefits both tree roots and the environment. The system provides numerous benefits, from water storage to filtration and water reuse, providing a circular approach to surface water management.

Optimised Rooting Space: The rigid, yet open structure of TreeParker® ensures that 95% of the tree pit area is dedicated to soil, allowing uninterrupted root establishment without the risk of soil compaction or upward root growth. This design maximises the space available for growing media and ensures contact with surrounding soil to ensure a natural growth environment.

Tested for Heavy Traffic Loads: TreeParker® is composed of modular units strong enough to support the heaviest wagons. The load is transferred from the surface paving to the formation ground via the TreeParker® frames and reinforced posts, avoiding any pressure on the soil within the tree pit.

Stress-Free Utility Integration: The system is designed to work under the urban environment. The simple, open construction enables contractors to straddle over new and existing service lines and pipes, with no integrated side walls to get in the way.

Holistic Water Management: As urban areas face increasingly complex challenges related to stormwater management that extend beyond just preventing flooding, TreeParker® offers a solution that balances urban development and the quality and quantity of urban run-off while enhancing biodiversity and sustainability—a true representation of sustainable blue-green infrastructure.

“With the growing importance of climate resilience and sustainability, urban tree planting is more critical than ever,” said Seraya Sigsworth, Product Specification Manager at Green-tech. “Taking a green asset that naturally provides biodiversity and amenity and combining it with water management creates a true vision of sustainable blue-green infrastructure. TreeParker® is designed to meet these challenges head-on, offering a modular, engineered solution that supports both tree health and urban water management. Our updated brochure emphasises these benefits, giving our customers the information they need to make informed decisions for their urban tree planting projects.”

Makita launch battery powered brushless blower

Makita launch battery powered brushless blower: Makita has launched a new high-power blower to join its growing range of outdoor equipment. The UB003C 36V Blower combines comfort and functionality with a high-performance brushless motor and battery system to deliver a maximum air velocity of 86m/s and long run times, making it the perfect companion for grounds maintenance professionals.

Lightweight and comfortable to use, the new UB003C offers an average blowing force of 24N, a maximum air volume 17.6m3 per second, and air velocity up to 86m per second. For clearing large areas, this machine can provide a continuous run time of up to 60 minutes from a single charge.

This is made possible by attaching Makita’s backpack battery system to the machine, for all-day work and performance without the hassle of using petrol or power cables. Specifically, rather than conventional batteries, the UB003C can either be connected to either the PDC1200 (33.5Ah) or PDC1500 (43.5Ah) Portable Power Packs as part of the manufacturer’s ConnectX system, or to Makita’s PDC01 battery backpack (all sold separately).

The UB003C blower features a 3-stage telescopic nozzle with an adjustment range of 100mm. For user comfort, the tilted nozzle reduces the reaction force and recoil of the machine, thereby reducing the burden on the arm. The machine offers a variety of usage options, including variable speed control, cruise control and constant speed control.

Matt Chilton, Product Manager at Makita UK commented: “This is an extremely versatile tool that affords users with more flexibility over their work. The compatibility of the UB003C with our ConnectX Portable Power Packs is what makes this blower stand out – enabling maintenance professionals to complete larger tasks with ease, with up to an hour of high performance blowing.”

GKB launch new Combislit aerator

GKB launch new Combislit aerator: Recognising that aeration is at the forefront of every turf professional’s maintenance plans, GKB Machines have announced the launch of the Combislit – a new, fast and effective solution to low-disruption aeration.

Available in 1.6m and 2.0m working widths, the Combislit uses GKB’s unique Evolvente® blades to spike and open all types of natural and hybrid surface to depths of up to 15cm (6”).

The GKB Combislit allows for effective aeration of the top layer with minimal friction and disruption, ensuring optimal oxygen and moisture movement and linking up with deeper decompaction work conducted throughout the season. The successor to the popular GKB Topair, the Combislit combines solid and robust design with simplicity of operation making it a go-to for regular passes on all type of sports and fine turf surfaces including fairways and greens.

GKB’s Evolvente® blades are designed to pierce the ground without disturbing or prying the topsoil. The result is a level surface, boosted with the many, well-documented benefits of regular aeration and able to be back in play almost immediately.

The Combislit’s frame ensures sufficient weight to penetrate compacted upper layers, with the option to add additional weight to the top of the unit if required. A rear-mounted pressure roller can also be specified to deliver extra precision to the end result. In addition, the blades can be swapped for cutting discs for linear aeration and non-chemical weed control.

Commenting on its introduction, GKB UK Operations Manager Tom Shinkins said, “We are all too aware of the prolonged wet conditions facilities around the country have had to endure, which just serves to reiterate why regular aeration is so important. When ground conditions rule out heavier or more intensive methods, GKB now have a fast and effective tool to keeping the profile open, bringing benefit to players and plant health alike. We are excited to add this to our portfolio, with stock now available via our UK dealer network.”
