The OAS Weather Station is a game-changer for those in the turf management industry. Its seamless connection to a smart dashboard app on mobile devices provides users with access to historical records, real-time conditions, and weather predictions from anywhere. Offering real-time data collection, the combination of sensor parameters will help turf managers plan, co-ordinate and make informed decisions for all their turf management jobs

Real-time Conditions: The OAS Weather Station provides real-time weather data, showing users how conditions are changing moment by moment. This enables the flexible and quick alteration of turf management plans, ensuring unpredictable weather conditions are handled with agility and precision.

Soil Probe Data: With the ability to monitor soil conditions, the OAS Weather Station offers insights into what is happening beneath the surface of the turf. This information is crucial for guiding turf management practices, helping users to understand the soil moisture and temperature levels to make more informed decisions.

Spraying Window and Conditions: Gain an in-depth insight into current and upcoming spraying conditions. The OAS Weather Station helps determine the best time to spray turf, ensuring optimal results and reducing the risk of ineffective applications due to adverse weather.

8-Day Forecast: The advanced 8-day forecast module enables turf managers to plan ahead, saving time and allowing for the strategic allocation of resources. This foresight helps in scheduling turf maintenance activities in accordance with upcoming weather patterns.

Historical Weather Data: Access to historical weather data enables turf managers to analyse past conditions and make more informed future predictions.  This feature aids in understanding trends and patterns, further enhancing turf management strategies.

Comprehensive support: To ensure the seamless operation of the OAS Weather Station, OAS offers a service contract that includes daily status checks, 2 maintenance visits per year, and the pledge to remedy faults within 5 working days.

The base model of the OAS Weather Station comes equipped with a suite of comprehensive essential sensors, which include, Temperature, Relative Humidity, Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Global Radiation (Solar Radiation), Barometric Pressure, and Rain Gauge. For those turf managers who require enhanced monitoring, optional sensors are available that monitor the temperature/relative humidity at ground level, the leaf wetness at ground level, and the soil moisture/temperature.

STIHL launches powerful battery-powered blower

STIHL launches powerful battery-powered blower: STIHL has launched the new BGA 250, a battery-powered blower that offers professional users an impressive power-to-weight ratio and a new standard of performance and efficiency.

Thanks to the constant power output technology, the BGA 250 offers 100% power even as the battery discharges, making it the world’s most powerful handheld battery-powered blower throughout the full battery charge.

Weighing only 2.7kg, the BGA 250 is lighter than its BGA 86 counterpart and boasts a significantly higher blowing output of 26 newtons. The battery is located inside the BGA 250, making the new handheld blower practical for smaller jobs that require high power.

The maximum blowing force can be selected from the simple-to-use speed level controls, allowing for efficient energy management and longer working times. Boost mode may also be selected to provide maximum power for the toughest clearing jobs. Furthermore, the new blower features an LED power display and a cruise control function to maximise battery use.

In addition to excellent performance, the BGA 250 features an improved battery location directly under the handle, which not only gives the blower perfect balance, but also improves the manoeuvrability of the machine thanks to its shortened design. The BGA 250 also features a nozzle with a shallow bend which directs the ‘push back’ force through the handle, ensuring the blower stays in place during operation with no wrist strain.

Other features include an IPX4 rating, ensuring the new blower can be used in all weathers. The BGA 250 is also compatible with STIHL’s Smart Connector 2 A, a device that plugs directly into the control module and collects useful working time and maintenance information.

Bionema Launches Biodegradable Surfactant

This product is applied with conventional spraying equipment and is compatible with nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, enhancing their effectiveness. Available in various packaging sizes, it supports sustainable soil management and improves yield quality.

Field trials on golf courses, racecourses, football pitches, cricket pitches, and landscapes in the UK, Ireland, Canada, India, and LATAM countries have shown a 20-30% increase in nutrient uptake when nitrogen-fixing products like BioNFix® are applied. Surfactants are applied on golf, racecourses, and football pitches to improve efficiency in water and nutrient use. They reduce soil water repellence, enhance water penetration and distribution, maintain constant moisture levels, and increase nutrient availability. This results in healthier, more robust turf, better playing conditions, and reduced maintenance costs by optimising the use of water and fertilisers.

Benefits of Soil-Jet® BSP100:

  • Improves water and nutrient use efficiency in irrigation.
  • Prevents soil water repellence, reducing runoff, erosion, and nutrient loss.
  • Speeds up water penetration into the soil.
  • Enhances water distribution in the crop’s root zone.
  • Maintains constant moisture and increases nutrient availability.

Soil-Jet® BSP100 is recommended at 1 L/ha up to 2 L/ha at monthly intervals, which is ten times lower than market alternatives. This reduces turf professionals’ costs by 50%. The product is available in 1L, 10L, 20L, and 208 L.

Dr Minshad Ansari, CEO and founder of Bionema, expressed enthusiasm for this innovation, stating, “Soil-Jet® BSP100 is a game-changer for sports and turf management. It optimises water and nutrient utilisation, combats soil water repellence, and fosters robust turf growth. This aligns with our mission to promote sustainable turf management through natural microbial solutions, reducing pesticide and synthetic fertiliser use and promoting healthier soil”.

Makita launches first robotic mower

Makita launches first robotic mower: Makita continues to power the outdoors with its new robotic mower. Providing automatic mowing and charging, the RM350D Robotic Mower can cover lawns up to 3,500m2 and slopes of up to 26°. With a cutting width of 240mm, rapid charging capabilities and long uninterrupted usage time, the solution provides ultimate convenience for those looking for fuss-free lawn maintenance.

The RM350D Robotic Mower is designed to mow the lawn and recharge automatically on its dedicated charging station. It cuts the grass into small pieces, leaving them on the lawn to act as a natural fertiliser. Thanks to the automatic cutting height adjustment, both the starting and target height of the lawn can be adjusted. Specifically, the cutting height can be adjusted from 20-60mm in precise 5mm increments.

The RM350D is simple to operate. Users simply need to set the boundary wires and guides and press go, with no need to download and sync up to an app. Four high quality brushless motors drive the blades and power the machine across the working area and once the battery has discharged, it automatically returns to its charging station and resumes mowing when the charging is completed, making it a totally autonomous system.

This design means the machine is not reliant on satellites for navigation control. As such, the RM350D is not incumbered by overhead obstructions such as trees, bushes and other garden features which may otherwise have restricted the cutting area.

Users will also enjoy the schedule settings feature, where the product can be programmed to run on specific days and times of the week – it simply leaves its charging station automatically, mows the lawn and then returns to the charging station independently.

In terms of maintenance, the RM350D simple to clean and reduce the burden of off-season maintenance. Its IPX5 rating means is can be cleaned with a hose – simply remove the top cover to wash the entire machine with water.

Matt Chilton, Product Manager at Makita UK commented: “We are delighted to add the RM350D to our growing outdoor collection. Thanks to battery operation, not only it is quieter, but also more environmentally friendly than a petrol powered lawnmower. It’s easy to set up and totally autonomous, meaning professionals can take care of other work on site while the robot takes care of the lawn. And with schedule setting capabilities, it has never been easier to manage and fulfil a lawncare timetable.”
