The Mean Green mowers are now in their second-generation following over 12 years of rigorous testing and development.  Overton UK have been distributing the Mean Green Mower range into the UK market for over 7-years and with the battery-powered market for commercial mowers still relatively new, the importance of showcasing these machines capabilities in a ‘live’ format has been extremely important.

A hot topic is, battery end-of-life regarding the environmental impact of battery waste, this is an area that Mean Green have catered for as their Lithium-Ion individual cells are serviceable preventing them being sent to landfill sites as sealed batteries are, this in turn eliminates any environmental impacts of disposal.  In the 7 years that Overton UK have been importing this range of machines, they have yet to replace a battery cell.  Mean Green Mowers are so confident in these batteries that they are backed up with a 5-year warranty.

The Multi-Use electric RINO® implement carrier is powered by a 48V Lithium-ion battery pack, available as a 22.5kWh or 30kWh system.  The RINO® has zero emissions, low running and maintenance costs, low noise and up to 6-hours* (22.5kWh) and 8 hours* (30kWh) mowing time.  The standard RINO® charger provided with the machine has a 13amp plug to connect to most sockets.

The RINO® front mounted implements are quickly and easily interchangeable and provide a clear and complete view of the working area.  The front mounted implements include a 120cm or 150cm Y-Blade flail mower, 120cm or 150cm 3-Blade rotary fine cut mower, WeedRipping arm, 120cm sweeper brush with or without collection, sickle mower and a 130cm or 160cm hydraulic angling snow ploughs.

Campey’s leading machines in action at GroundsFest

Campey’s leading machines in action at GroundsFest: Campey Turf Care Systems is ready to take full advantage of the outdoor demonstration space at GroundsFest, with the Imants ShockWave, Dakota Turf Tender, Foley Company Air2G2 336 and Campey UNIRAKE© all prepared for action on stand OSA460.

The combination of outdoor and indoor stands has made GroundsFest the perfect event for Campey to give visitors valuable in-action insights into machines, how they work and the difference they can make.

Speaking about the inaugural event, Campey Turf Care Director Lee Morgado said: “GroundsFest is a new concept which puts the visitors at the forefront of the experience. One of those aspects is live demos, which makes the event more valuable to us as a company.

“As a machinery dealer and manufacturer, it is invaluable to show people exactly what the equipment can do, how it operates, and the results they can expect. It also allows us to answer questions in greater detail which benefits our customers, and that is what it’s all about.”

Campey has chosen machines that encompass a range of maintenance practices for the show. For variable organic matter removal, the UNIRAKE© is the perfect choice. Users can adjust the severity of grooming to remove a varying amount of organic matter or simply stand the sward up to encourage growth. Altering the severity of grooming is quick and easy and can be done in no less than 30 seconds.

The latest re-designed Imants ShockWave sporting its new livery, will be on show for wide area aeration, proving in person why it is the best linear compactor for heavily used areas where play can’t stop. It is designed to revitalise fine turf and sports fields by relieving soil compaction, improving aeration, and removing surface water, all whilst causing minimal surface disruption so play can resume quickly and safely.

In smaller or tighter areas, the Foley Air2G2 336 remains the industry’s finest pedestrian aerator. Instant results and the immediate continuation of play have set this machine apart since its release, making it a mainstay across most sports.

Completing the line-up of must-see machinery is the Dakota Turf Tender. The topdresser offers an impressive level of consistency with electric control boxes allowing users to set their width of spread an infinitely variable amount while ensuring that it can be changed and returned to that width at any time

Campey’s team of product specialists will be demonstrating the machinery and will be available throughout the two days to provide advice, answer questions or have a catch-up over a coffee.

Campey brings leading quality to Sage

Campey brings leading quality to Sage: Campey Turf Care Systems has prepared a 16-strong machinery fleet for Sage 2023 that delivers industry-leading quality across every turf maintenance discipline, including aeration, top dressing, seeding and utility vehicles.

Campey brings leading quality to Sage

Established industry favourites such as the Campey Unirake, Dakota 310, and ShockWave 160 will be joined by the latest innovations including the new Bellonmit BM40 professional scarifier with fixed blade collection. The high-performance rotor guarantees excellent work in all conditions, even when the cutting edge of the blade is not in optimal condition. In addition, the collector with hydraulic discharge on the ground allows the material removed from the ground to be collected in a single pass. The high ventilation created by the rotor allows it to be used also as a leaf vacuum.

Weighing less than 700kg and fitted with Cat I and Cat II hitch, the Campey TDS2 is designed to deliver a sub-surface shattering effect quickly and effectively with minimum surface disturbance. This creates fissures for grass roots to grow into, allows excess water to drain and links up existing drainage, all without the need for external hydraulics or PTO.

Performance and versatility are huge attributes in the Campey range and feature in the Martin Lishman MC120 micro sprayer. The key aim of the Micro-Spray is to bring versatility to the turf professionals’ armoury. A narrow footprint allows it to fit through most gateways and passageways to tackle hard-to-reach spraying areas.

With a 120-litre tank, the option of a 2.5m six nozzle or 3.5m eight nozzle three-section folding boom and the perfect combination of power, control and responsive handling, the Micro-Spray is suited to all types of sports grounds, golf courses and landscaping work.

Whether it’s all-electric mowing, brushing and weed management with the AllTrec, tree management with the Mini Rotoknife or site transport using the Clubcar 1500, Campey will have options for every turf professional at the Three Counties Showground.

Campey’s team of product experts will complete the line up on stand, who can advise on the best solutions for your turf issues.

Leading lawncare expert refutes Monty’s claim

Leading lawncare expert refutes Monty’s claim: One of the UK’s leading lawncare experts has totally refuted the claim by TV gardener Monty Don in a national newspaper that mowing the grass “is about the most injurious thing you can do to wildlife.”

Richard Salmon, managing director of ProLawnCare UK Limited, dismisses the claim as “utter nonsense” and asks what is Monty’s evidence for making such a claim?

Leading lawncare expert refutes Monty’s claim

Leading lawncare expert refutes Monty’s claim

“Visit any garden where lawns are regularly mown and you will see all manner of birds and insects.   Badgers are particularly fond of such areas as it makes searching for insects that much easier than in long, wild grass,” he says.

“All golf courses are enjoyed by an abundance of wildlife – and they don’t restrict their visits to the rough.  The other factor he forgets is that leaving grass to grow wild and reducing the mowing frequency, means that when you come to mow, it will be more difficult as the grass will be long.  It will take several passes with the mower to reduce to the required height, using more fuel and energy.  Plus it will put additional stress on the grass by reducing its height too much in one mowing operation.

Grass mowed little and often produces more leaf because additional tillers (side shoots) are stimulated to grow.  The more leaf you encourage, the greater the Co2 absorbing capability of the turf is achieved.”

Richard agrees that all gardens, regardless of size, should leave an area uncultivated but, he points out, many wild flowers cannot compete with rampant long grass, so set aside areas for wildlife and manage them accordingly and leave the lawn as a lawn.

Only The Best Nematodes In Leading Products

Only The Best Nematodes In Leading Products: BASF is the UK’s largest producer of beneficial nematodes, and it goes to great lengths to ensure that its product is of the highest quality available on the market. It’s vital that the quality is as high as possible because low quality nematodes will either die before use or will be ineffective in hunting down prey.

Nematodes are micro-organisms that occur naturally in the soil, where they hunt down and attack pests. Each nematode species has its own specific prey, meaning that they will harm their prey, and only their prey. They are already present within the soil, but more often than not, this is at such low levels that they are ineffective at controlling major pest infestations. In order to see the benefit, you must boost the numbers of live nematodes present in the soil; this is where BASF comes in!

Only The Best Nematodes In Leading Products

BASF ensures a consistently high quality by growing them through an extremely high-tech and specialised procedure. The facilities designed by BASF are reminiscent of a cutting edge distillery or brewery, filled with stainless steel stills and white lab coats. There are endless factors considered with each stage of the process being carefully monitored by experts in the field, and the most advanced equipment specifically designed for the job is used; but whilst the growing process is technical and scientific, the application process for the gardener could not be easier!

Due to the fact out BASF’s nematodes are delivered straight to the customer’s door, as a fresh, live product, it is able to guarantee product consistency, concentration (of 90-95% pure nematodes) and the unique formulations which provide the most optimum stability and product performance for which it has established a market leading reputation. BASF is the only nematode grower to offer this type of service.

Nemasys and Nemaslug are the most effective biological product ranges that meet all environmental standards, and this continues to drive growth year on year, with the products being compatible with organic gardening and creating no resistance issues.
