Makita launch battery powered brushless blower

Makita launch battery powered brushless blower: Makita has launched a new high-power blower to join its growing range of outdoor equipment. The UB003C 36V Blower combines comfort and functionality with a high-performance brushless motor and battery system to deliver a maximum air velocity of 86m/s and long run times, making it the perfect companion for grounds maintenance professionals.

Lightweight and comfortable to use, the new UB003C offers an average blowing force of 24N, a maximum air volume 17.6m3 per second, and air velocity up to 86m per second. For clearing large areas, this machine can provide a continuous run time of up to 60 minutes from a single charge.

This is made possible by attaching Makita’s backpack battery system to the machine, for all-day work and performance without the hassle of using petrol or power cables. Specifically, rather than conventional batteries, the UB003C can either be connected to either the PDC1200 (33.5Ah) or PDC1500 (43.5Ah) Portable Power Packs as part of the manufacturer’s ConnectX system, or to Makita’s PDC01 battery backpack (all sold separately).

The UB003C blower features a 3-stage telescopic nozzle with an adjustment range of 100mm. For user comfort, the tilted nozzle reduces the reaction force and recoil of the machine, thereby reducing the burden on the arm. The machine offers a variety of usage options, including variable speed control, cruise control and constant speed control.

Matt Chilton, Product Manager at Makita UK commented: “This is an extremely versatile tool that affords users with more flexibility over their work. The compatibility of the UB003C with our ConnectX Portable Power Packs is what makes this blower stand out – enabling maintenance professionals to complete larger tasks with ease, with up to an hour of high performance blowing.”

Makita adds to XGT battery platform

Makita adds to XGT battery platform: Makita has unveiled a number of new products to help keep lawns pristine. The company’s growing range aimed at the professional sector now includes two additional cordless lawn mowers – the 40VMax XGT LM003G and LM004G and its first cordless scarifier, the 40VMax XGT UV001GZ.

The new lawnmowers are powered by Makita’s advanced XGT technology and feature a high-torque motor that provides powerful and quiet operation, making quick work of grass cutting tasks.

The LM003G 40VMax XGT 380mm Lawnmower provides superb mowing performance, thanks to its advanced blade design. Tilting down towards the front of the mower, it helps to minimise double-cutting and reduces the load on the machine – this leads to reduced energy consumption, superior cutting feel and better grass collecting.

The LM004G 40VMax XGT 430mm Lawnmower, with a similar blade design to the LM003G, is a slightly larger model that also has two different blades available for different applications.

Both the LM003G and the LM004G can be fitted with a mulching blade to cut grass clippings into small particles and scatter them evenly on the ground. Furthermore, both mowers offer a continuous runtime of around 50 minutes, depending on the setting and the grass conditions, and have numerous additional features designed to improve comfort and ease of use. They require less force to turn thanks to a redesigned switch lever, while the easy-to-operate handle lock levers mean that each side of the handle can be locked and unlocked in a single action without the need for tools.

Both models also offer simple cutting height adjustment with easy-to-grip egg-shaped lever tops and u-shaped notches, and can be washed with water on the inside (provided high-pressure water is not used).

UV001G 40VMax XGT Brushless 380mm Lawn Scarifier

In addition to the two new mowers, Makita has also launched the UV001G 40VMax XGT Brushless 380mm Lawn Scarifier available as a body only model (UV001GZ), or complete with 2x 5.0Ah batteries and charger (UV001GM201).

The first scarifier to join Makita’s cordless line up, this machine has a high-power output of 1.7kW to cut through the toughest lawn thatching in order to improve airflow and nutrient penetration. Operating to a depth range of 5mm down to -12mm, this machine comes with a vertical cutting blade for aerating soil below the top surface of the lawn, and a thatching blade for removing deposited lawn clippings and surface moss.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK commented: “Makita’s product development continues to redefine the industry, with products that support the trade. With new comfort-enhancing features, the new cordless lawn mowers and scarifier are perfect for users who want to keep lawns and grassed areas in pristine condition, without the hassle of tangled cords or fuel refills.”

Makita powers up the heat

Makita powers up the heat: In addition to powering the expanding line-up of cordless tools and accessories, Makita has introduced two new heated base layers to its range of job site apparel.

With four dedicated heat zones (front waist, both forearms and back) for optimum heat distribution and three heat settings to adjust to changing weather conditions, these new garments can provide continuous heat for up to 33 hours (when used on the low setting with the BL1860B 6Ah LXT battery – sold separately).

Both base layers are made from elasticated fabric to allow unrestricted movement, are machine washable and have a simple switch on/off button that is easily accessible at the front. The key difference between the two products is the style – the DCX200 is a simple pullover style shirt with a round neck, while the slip on DCX201 features a half zip with a stand-up collar.

The new long-sleeved base layers can be powered by Makita’s 18V LXT or 12Vmax CXT batteries which can be placed in a battery holder attached to the waist belt.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita UK commented: “Our heated base layers are perfect for anyone who works in cold conditions – whether outdoors or indoors. The four heat zones cover the front waist, top centre of the back and both forearms, providing effective and welcome warmth that will enable users to more comfortably carry out their work, all year round.”

The unisex DCX200 and DCX201 heated base layer shirts are available in a range of sizes, from XS to 3XL and join a growing line up of heated jackets and vests from the manufacturer that are ideal for the colder months.
