The best bits from SAGE: With blue skies (mostly!) beaming down over the Three Counties Showground, SAGE 2023 was an event to remember for exhibitors and visitors alike. Held on 19th and 20th July, the event featured interesting talks on a variety of subjects, a Learning Hub designed for those entering the industry, and of course, the UK Loggers National Championships – demonstrating feats of precision and skill.

As part of the packed agenda, market leaders shared their thoughts on the future of chemicals in grounds maintenance, exploring the pros and cons of a zero-chemical future.

Mark Tomlinson, Head of Environmental & Sustainability Stadia Projects at Bio-Circle Surface Technology Ltd also shared his wisdom on the importance of washdown systems. Visitors also enjoyed meeting with experts who came together to provide support, assistance and expertise on how businesses can best get started and progress on a sustainable journey.

Market leaders also shared their thoughts on electric machinery, while over at the Green Business Expo, Alex Pearson from Midlands Net Zero Hub and Dominic Lavelle, Managing Director at Go Green Experts discussed whether going green is viable for a business, delving into the details of equipping a business with strategy and practical knowhow on moving forwards.

An expert-led panel talked about creating a successful tender bid, after which Fusion for Business discussed managing rising energy costs. Also at the Green Business Expo, visitors had the opportunity to meet a panel of innovators who talked about how pioneering methods can challenge the norm by tackling market leaders and traditional methods.

In the Learning Hub, visitors were able to join experts for live workshops, talks and interactive knowledge sharing and competitions, as they delved into the challenges land-based colleges face.
Guests enjoyed a live panel talk on Wednesday and an open workshop on Thursday.

Reesink supporting sustainability at SAGE

Reesink supporting sustainability at SAGE: SAGE 2023 is hosting the first Sustainability Solutions for Grounds Specialists Summit live, in partnership with Bio-Circle and supported by Reesink Turfcare.

The event, at Three Counties Showground in Malvern on 19-20 July, will focus on demonstrating how businesses in the sports and outdoor maintenance industries can lower their impact on the environment and take vital steps towards being sustainable. This will include a live panel for sharing sustainable practices among many things.

Bio-Circle, the sustainable surface technology system manufacturer, and machinery distributor Reesink Turfcare have joined forces to form an initiative called GreenGrounds to promote environmental awareness within the turf and groundscare industries, bring the industries together, raise the importance of effective sustainable activities, make an overall positive impact towards decarbonisation and environmentally friendly maintenance for groundscare.

Gillian Haverson, marketing manager at Reesink Turfcare, a Bio-Circle distributor, says: “Reesink and Bio-Circle have come together to accept our environmental and sustainable responsibilities to help the future of the industry. Reesink is happy to support this initiative and bring awareness of more sustainable solutions to groundscare professionals.

“It’s important we focus on providing sustainable, environmentally friendly technology that reduce our customer’s carbon footprint and do not compromise on the quality of the work. Our current offering includes products powered by biodiesel and advanced batteries made more efficient by incorporating electronic fuel injection, hybrid and electric technologies.”

And some of this technology will be at SAGE. The all-electric Toro Greensmaster eFlex 1021 pedestrian mower, for example, which has been seen cutting the greens at Royal Liverpool Golf Club for The Open 2023, will be on the Bio-Circle stand with a Reesink rep available to discuss all electric and hybrid machinery options available from Toro, who has led the technology in this field.

Campey brings leading quality to Sage: Campey Turf Care Systems has prepared a 16-strong machinery fleet for Sage 2023 that delivers industry-leading quality across every turf maintenance discipline, including aeration, top dressing, seeding and utility vehicles.

Across the 19th and 20 July 2023, the Sports & Grounds Expo will deliver two days of hands-on action and live demonstrations at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, and Campey’s fleet will be leading the way on performance and quality.

Established industry favourites such as the Campey Unirake, Dakota 310, and ShockWave 160 will be joined by the latest innovations including the new Bellonmit BM40 professional scarifier with fixed blade collection. The high-performance rotor guarantees excellent work in all conditions, even when the cutting edge of the blade is not in optimal condition. In addition, the collector with hydraulic discharge on the ground allows the material removed from the ground to be collected in a single pass. The high ventilation created by the rotor allows it to be used also as a leaf vacuum.

Weighing less than 700kg and fitted with Cat I and Cat II hitch, the Campey TDS2 is designed to deliver a sub-surface shattering effect quickly and effectively with minimum surface disturbance. This creates fissures for grass roots to grow into, allows excess water to drain and links up existing drainage, all without the need for external hydraulics or PTO.

Performance and versatility are huge attributes in the Campey range and feature in the Martin Lishman MC120 micro sprayer. The key aim of the Micro-Spray is to bring versatility to the turf professionals’ armoury. Redexim return to SAGE 2023!: Redexim UK are delighted to be returning to the Sports and Grounds Expo this July, with a showcase of maintenance equipment that is critical to delivering first-class sports surfaces.

Beside their iconic Verti-Drain 2519 which continues to set the benchmark for professional aeration, stands 8 and 8D will be home to a host of other Redexim innovations including the Turf Tidy and 6m wide Top-Brush.

Proving that multi-purpose doesn’t have to mean a compromise in performance, the Redexim Turf Tidy combines de-thatching, flail cutting or sweeping with collection in a single pass. It is designed with a fully floating head that follows the grounds’ contours ensuring clean and even pick-up of clippings, thatch and other debris making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

Speed and efficiency are also at the heart of the Top-Brush 6000 – comprised of three poly brushes which can be accurately set to a desired working depth for dew clearance, worm cast dispersal or simply enhancing presentation of large areas such as golf fairways or sports pitches. Brushes can be set to rotate or contra-rotate to the direction of travel and, once the job is done, the ‘wings’ can be hydraulically lifted and folded for convenient transportation and storage.

Also on show will be the popular Rink DS800 topdresser and the 1575 Overseeder 3D. The Overseeder 3D is one of a number of disc seeders available from the Redexim range, offering an accurate seed delivery mechanism for precision placement and optimal conditions for germination. The Overseeder 3D is also one of the qualifying models for the current Redexim seed promotion, running in conjunction with Origin Amenity Solutions (OAS).
