Mowing steep slopes even more comfortably

Mowing steep slopes even more comfortably: The remote-controlled AS 1000 Ovis RC is in use on steep slopes throughout Europe. The tracked flail mower with maximum mowing performance and extreme slope capability has become an integral part of the AS-Motor product portfolio.

Series production of the next development stage of the mower started at the beginning of February: the AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC offers extended RC functions and even more user comfort.

Electric cutting height adjustment from a distance

The cutting height of the AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC can be conveniently adjusted between 40 and 110 mm by remote control. Two electric servomotors move the mowing deck to the desired height.  The advantage of being able to raise the flail mower remotely is particularly useful for uneven ground or dense vegetation. This also makes it easier to drive over edges or cross roads and ditches. When approaching steep slopes directly from the front, the angle of the slope can also be better adjusted. The mechanical cutting height indicator is simple and robust. The set height can be read off in five stages via a scale on the device. The transport and service position is reached in the usual way via the hand spindle. The mowing deck continues to be mounted on a surfing bearing and thus adapts optimally to uneven ground in difficult terrain with its large pendulum path.

Remote-controlled blade clutch

The electromechanical blade clutch on the new AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC can also be operated remotely. An electric actuator switches the blade clutch. This allows the user to conveniently stop the blades with the remote control or restart the engine when crossing paths or obstacles. The developers at AS-Motor have deliberately opted for a mechanical function of the clutch itself. This is characterised by a significantly higher durability compared to purely electric variants.

Brake and hydrostatic bypass

On the new AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC, two easily accessible levers enable the mechanical unlocking of the hydrostats and the release of the brake. This makes it much easier to free the machine if it gets stuck. The mower can be towed slowly and with free-running chains. The bypass for the brake and hydrostats can be operated easily, quickly and without tools.

Technical simplicity is retained

The remote control of the new AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC differs from the basic model only by three additional toggle switches. This means that the machine can still be controlled intuitively. One of the most important objectives in the development of the basic model AS 1000 Ovis RC was technical simplicity right from the start. This also applies to the new AS 1000 Ovis Evo RC. It is also characterised by the particular simplicity of its design, easy handling and uncomplicated maintenance. Too many electrical components in a single machine can lead to complexity, which is also consistently dispensed with in the expansion model.

Agria 9600 tames steeper slopes

Agria 9600 tames steeper slopes: Engineering and software enhancements to the agria 9600 remote-controlled rotary mulching mower have made it smarter and more effective on even steeper banks and verges.

The huge H&S benefits of the agria 9600 mean it is an already popular choice for contractors, local authorities and course managers. Risk to staff is minimised because the operator can take a safe position up to 100 metres away using a hand-held control pad. Impressive on 50° slopes and banks, a 10% increase gives it a 55° capability which brings scope to tackle even tougher areas.

Manufactured in Germany, and distributed by Agria UK, sister company to Wiedenmann UK, the all-new version for 2021 has a heavier duty design with thicker steel. The electric motors and generator are more powerful and now brushless.  Stronger and greased seal bearings have been introduced while the V-belt now tensions automatically.

The agria 9600 comes in two widths, 112 cm and 80 cm. It cuts and mulches in two directions and is effortless on a variety of applications, including fine turf, while offering an adjustable cutting height of 50 -185 mm. Highly productive, it can cover up to 10,000 m² / hr assuming a forward speed of 10 km / hr.

Extra smart technology has been applied inside the easy-accessed control box where the electronics are protected from dust, vibration and moisture. Equipped with sensor technology, the software communicates constantly with the sensors and intervenes in critical circumstances. For example, it will alert the operator to any harmful objects such as large stones by shutting down immediately.  The colour display on the remote-control handset also sends a warning should the machine approach a critical slope or need refuelling.

Innovative ‘electric hybrid drive’ allows the agria 9600 to be more efficient and environmentally friendly than other hydraulic concepts. Safety Extra Low Voltage (48V) electricity is generated as the petrol engine drives the mower blades and generator. Accordingly, the maintenance-free motors convert the current into powering the tracks. A replacement fuel cannister system makes refuelling safe and easy, even on difficult terrain.  Two standard 10 litre cannisters can be easily removed and reconnected. Optional new crawler tracks with non-slip cleat-profile, offer even more grip while a new standard feature of robust collision protection has been added.

The agria 9600 is available from Agria UK operating through a network of stocking dealers across the UK and Ireland, supported by the Wiedenmann UK team of Chas Ayres, Michael James and Andy Kerr on 0141 814 3366. www.agria.de/en-gb/

New Mower Engineered For Slopes

New Mower Engineered For Slopes: For more than 50 years, AS Motor have been working continuously on new technologies and the consistent further development of their extensive range of mowers.

The AS 1040 Yak ride-on flail mower from AS-Motor Germany GmbH & Co. is a major innovation for ride-on mowers and is a recent addition to the AS Motor family which includes both 4WD and 2WD models.

New Mower Engineered For Slopes

In high grass, flail mowers are particularly impressive due to their high work rates, robustness in the event of unseen foreign objects and offer consistent cutting results.

The AS 1040 YAK 4WD’s newly developed 100cm wide robust flail mowing unit is a superior alternative to conventional rotary mowing units. It offers significantly less risk of damage and also ensures operator safety. It has balanced weight distribution – 45% on the front axle and 55% on the rear axle which ensures outstanding traction and safe working irrespective of the terrain.

Also available from PSD Groundscare is the AS 940 Remote Control brushcutter for mowing areas where walking is difficult!

High-grass, steep slope, difficult terrain!

Mowing on steep and difficult terrain has always been a challenge for the machine operator and the AS 940 and AS 940 XL ride on brushcutter have been especially developed for this demanding application. Equipped with 27hp, 4wd, limited-slip differential and cross blade, the AS 940 easily mows dense, high grass and undergrowth on terrain where other mowers would have been forced to give up.

With ride-on brushcutters, steep slopes can be mown conveniently and economically. However, there are always areas where mowing is very unpleasant or unsafe for the operator, including steep terrain, loose substrate, mowing under trees and bushes, along hedges and even areas around wasp nests. However AS Motor have the solution – the AS 940 Remote Control which offers all the benefits of the standard AS 940 but with the option to convert to remote control when required.

The main remote-controlled functions include:

  • Professional remote control unit with 300m range
  • Adjustment of the cutting height
  • Engine on/off function
  • Mower deck on-off switch
  • Steering via remote control
  • Maximum incline transverse to the slope in remote control operation 33° (ride-on operation 21°)
  • Emergency stop of the machine
