Headline sponsor revealed for BIGGA celebration: The British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) is delighted to reveal leading turf machinery manufacturer Jacobsen as headline sponsor of the BIGGA Celebration, taking place on the opening evening of the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME).

BIGGA’s free-to-attend welcome event is held in the Harrogate Convention Centre and is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of BIGGA members from throughout 2023. Hosted by a golfing celebrity, the BIGGA Celebration with Jacobsen is an opportunity to celebrate everything that’s great about the greenkeeping industry, which is key to growing a thriving sport for years to come.

BTME is the premier turf management exhibition in Europe and provides BIGGA members and the wider sports turf industry with an unmissable mix of exhibition, Continue to Learn education, conferences and legendary networking opportunities.

At the BIGGA Celebration, the association will reveal the winners of the BIGGA Awards 2024 as well as recognising the latest life members, Master Greenkeepers, the FTMI Class of 2023, BIGGA Photography Competition winner and others.

Jacobsen is the UK-based division of Textron Specialized Vehicles, a leading global manufacturer of machinery including golf cars, utility and personal transportation and professional turfcare equipment. Its vehicles are found in environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports and theme parks.

New for 2023, the Richard Linley Award will reward the best newcomer to British horseracing. The Award is named in honour of Richard Linley, the former BHA Senior Inspector of Racecourses who recently retired after 35 years of service.

The awards celebrate excellence in turf husbandry across British racecourses and are unique in that they remain the only dedicated awards for groundstaff within the sport.

The core Racecourse Groundstaff Awards celebrate the winners and runners-up across the three racecourse types: flat, jump and dual purpose. The winners of each category will go onto the RCA’s Showcase Awards on Thursday 23rd November at Aintree Racecourse where an overall Groundstaff Champion will be crowned.

The winners of the 2022 Racecourse Groundstaff Awards were announced last November with Agrovista Amenity, DLF Seeds and Duralock proud sponsors.  As with previous Racecourse Groundstaff Awards, an expert judging panel comprised of the representatives from the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Racecourse Inspectorate, Professional Jockeys Association (PJA) and the National Trainers Federation (NTF) judged the awards, and the

Velvit to sponsor Exeter Chiefs

Velvit to sponsor Exeter Chiefs: South West premium turf care specialists, Velvit, have entered into a sponsorship deal with Premiership Rugby Club the Exeter Chiefs.

Velvit, who are based in South Somerset, have been supplying fertiliser to the Exeter Chiefs through local distributer Tim Wakeham of Wakeham Groundcare for seven years, watching the club go from success to success in that time.

Through the sponsorship deal, Velvit are sponsoring up-and-coming player Alfie Petch who has already had an impressive run of appearances with the England age-graded teams. A Cornish boy by birth, Alfie signed a three-year contract with the Chiefs at the start of the 2018/2019 season and made his debut in November of that year.
