Bernhard and Company has a rich history of attendance at trade shows and conferences around the globe, having first exhibited at the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show as early as 1995.

“We have been able to gain a great deal of insight and expertise from the industry by exhibiting and being present at trade shows around the world,” said Steven Nixon, Managing Director for Bernhard and Company. “Each of these shows is a great opportunity for us to get in front of customers, prospective customers, and industry friends – it’s really valuable time for us.”

Bernhard and Company began its trade show swing last week in Japan, at the Japan Turf show at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Centre. Bernhard and Company exhibited on the Kyoeisha booth, with Express Dual, Anglemaster, and Dual Master machines on display. Both Kyoeisha and Bernhard and Company ran seminars on each day of the event.

As proud members and partners of BIGGA, the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association, the Bernhard and Company team will be back in the UK for BTME, BIGGA’s turf exhibition hosted at the Harrogate Convention Centre between January 23-25, 2024. BTME features an unmissable mix of exhibition, education, conferences, and brilliant networking opportunities, and Bernhard will be located in Hall 5, stand number 534. As the distribution partner for the UK and Ireland, Bernhard and Company will also be exhibiting the latest Soil Scout technology at BTME.

Additionally, representatives of the Bernhard Academy will be positioned on stand 534 at BTME. The Bernhard Academy is the turf industry’s foremost education provider and has recently unveiled its all-new programme of educational courses that are now available for booking at its three Academy sites around the UK, via the new Bernhard Academy website. The Bernhard Academy team will be on hand to answer questions about the workshops and educational opportunities.

Prior to the start of BTME, the Bernhard Academy team will be delivering a three-day course as part of BTME’s Continue to Learn programme. The ‘Grinding Perfection and Cutting Unit Setup’ workshops were among the first courses to sell-out immediately after launch.

The GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in the USA will take place in Arizona at the Phoenix Convention Centre from January 29-February 1, 2024. It is the premier networking and learning environment for golf course and facility management professionals from North America and around the world. Bernhard and Company will be located at stand 5109.

Each year, Bernhard and Company selects 10 BIGGA members (announced at BTME) to accompany them to the GCSAA conference in the USA, to experience the show, take part in numerous educational experiences, and visit local golf facilities.

Slightly later in the year, Bernhard and Company will visit the Australian ASTMA (Australian Sports Turf Managers Association) show between June 17-20 in Brisbane. The Bernhard and Company booth will be located at stand number 47, and in addition to its market-leading products, Bernhard will also be exhibiting SubAir and TurfBreeze products, as the distribution partner in the region.

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX: After launching to much acclaim earlier in the year, the OxyShot will be taking centre-stage on the Charterhouse Turf Machinery stand at SALTEX 2019.

Suitable for use on a variety of sports surfaces, visitors to stand K070 will see how the air-injection unit can relieve compaction, improve drainage and revitalise growth without the need for chemical applications.

Tools Of The Trade With Charterhouse At SALTEX

The OxyShot uses a single 25mm probe to inject air into the soil in four directions, at a pressure of up to 110psi and to a maximum depth of 500mm (20”). It can also be fitted with an optional 14mm probe, to reduce the working depth to 250mm. Perfect for ‘on the spot’ treatments, the highly manoeuvrable unit can be easily transported for use in a variety of situations – from golf course walkways to goal mouths, tennis baselines and sports pitch touchlines. It can also be used for arboricultural operations, to deliver aeration to tree roots growing in compacted, air-starved soils.

The Charterhouse team will also be on hand to discuss the many new and future developments from the Redexim stable, including the newly re-modelled Speed-Seed range. Together with an updated livery, the popular dimple-seeder range has been extended to feature four new working widths – 1.1m, 1.5m, 2m and 2.3m.

For situations where drill lines need to be avoided, the Speed-Seed range is a popular choice. A spiked sarel roller creates 940 holes per m2, with a rear brush then sweeping the delivered seed into the mass of holes leaving a groomed finish in its wake. An optional second roller can be fitted to double the number of holes created. With model sizes to suit a variety of environments, the Speed-Seed range is ideal for overseeding large or small areas, quickly and with ease.

STIHL Host Trade Press Day

STIHL Host Trade Press Day: The trade press were given a wonderful opportunity to harness their inner lumberjack at the recent Stihl Press day held at the National Arboritum at Westonbirt, in Gloucestershire.

Members of the Stihl staff were on hand to demonstrate recently developed petrol and battery powered machinery including chainshaws, brushcutters, blowers and both domestic and professional rotary mowers. Then the press, suitably and safely attired, had their opportunity to put the kit through its paces.

The day ended with a superb dinner in a lovely nearby hotel.

Thanks to all at Stihl, and their agency HROC, for looking after us all so well.

Cutting Edge Visit For Trade Press

Cutting Edge Visit For Trade Press: A number of the UK trade press recently visited the factory of Dennis and SISIS in Derby for an insight into the future vision and continual investment of the companies along with a behind the scenes look at the new Dennis PRO 34R rotary mower.

Managing Director Ian Howard and Sales & Marketing Manager Roger Moore extended a warm welcome before giving an insight into current and future markets and products, before discussing the recent results of the SISIS Javelin Aer-Aid STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) trials which included a CGI animation of what happens under the surface while using the tractor mounted aerator over a 30-day period.

Cutting Edge Visit For Trade Press

Following extensive trials conducted by the STRI, it has been concluded that the SISIS Javelin Aer-Aid would be an essential tool within any integrated turf management programme.

Over a four-month period, extensive STRI trials led by Dr Christian Spring were carried out at the world’s leading sports turf consultancy’s headquarters in Bingley, West Yorkshire. The research saw three trial plots set-up in which one area examined the effects of the SISIS Javelin Aer-Aid with air injection, one with the Aer-Aid without air injection, while the other plot was left un-treated. In particular, Christian and his team of researchers were looking at how and if the Javelin Aer-Aid had an effect on the hardness of the turf, root depth, water infiltration and disease.

Attendees were then given a first-glimpse of the Dennis PRO 34R rotary mower before it goes into full production in early 2018. The PRO 34R is a 34” (860mm) rotary mower designed to help groundsmen achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance and desired playing surface and is ideal for sports pitches.

The professional rotary mower has been designed and developed with feedback from groundsmen over the past 18 months ahead of the official launch.

Ian Howard then gave an insightful presentation of the company’s sales over the past seven years, which has increased five-fold over that period, before discussing the future vision of the group of companies and products which may appear in the distinctive ‘Dennis Green’ and ‘SISIS Orange’ colours over the coming years.

The group were then given a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the All British Precision factory where components for Dennis and SISIS machines are manufactured. This includes the recent investment of over £400,000 in new fully automated manufacturing machines. This was followed by a tour of the Dennis and SISIS production and assembly lines which now includes a new in-house paint plant – yet more proof of the continual investment into the British manufacturer while ensuring that quality control is of the highest standard.

Factory tour over and it was back into the office for lunch followed by a question and answer session and thanks from both Ian Howard and Roger Moore.

“The event was hailed a great success by all,” commented Ian Howard. “It is always nice to open our doors and give the trade press an insight into exactly what goes into bringing a new product to market – from market research, design, production and extensive field tests with groundsmen and greenkeepers. It also gives them the chance to see our hard-working members of the team which shows the dedication and proudness which you do not always get a chance to see.”

The company is proud to be flying the flag for the UK turf care industry.
