Campey promoting UK Tour at BTME

For many years Campey has taken a huge number of machines across the water for various educational and sales tours throughout Europe. Most recently was an eight-country demonstration tour visiting 14 venues to provide industry-leading customer support and training.

Now it is the turn of the UK! The key to the success of all the events is working with turf professionals to solve issues specific to their sport and conditions. For Campey Director Lee Morgado, this is the primary purpose of the in-person demos and is invaluable to what Campey offers.

“Giving people detailed advice on issues specific to them is priceless, and the impact of it really can’t be overestimated,” Lee said. “The challenges course managers and greenkeepers face in the UK can vary considerably, so to have the opportunity to talk through those issues can make a difference for them and us because we can learn and adapt from it.”

So, for this reason, Campey has chosen BTME, not only to exhibit a selection of their extensive range of equipment, but to engage with industry professionals on the stand to discuss when and where Campey may be visiting their region. Also, to invite anyone who would like to take part in the tour, and wishes to use their own venue, to talk to their Product Specialist or anyone in the Campey team before the final list is drawn up.

Anyone who registers and attends any of the road shows will have their name automatically put into a raffle to be held at each venue. The top prize is a visit to the Imants and Vredo Head offices in Holland with a tour of the factory to see how these flagship machines are manufactured, followed by traditional Dutch hospitality to make you feel very welcome.  With several runner up prizes too, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.

Campey’s team of product specialists will be available throughout the two days to provide advice on all the machinery in the range, answer questions or have a catch-up over a coffee.

FSI embark on new chapter in the UK

A prominent name in the UK arb industry for over a decade, FSI are widely recognised for their high-quality, reliable range of stump grinders – especially the popular collection of handlebar stump grinders which set the industry standard for processing efficiency and have therefore been market leading in their category for many years.  The strategic decision taken to work directly with carefully selected distribution partners facilitates new growth opportunities, streamlined communication between the UK and head office and enhanced support, training and development for those providing sales and support to operators old and new.

A key component of the new distribution strategy is the introduction of Lee Hatton, who brings a wealth of arboriculture, groundcare and agricultural knowledge and experience to his new role of Sales Director for FSI Stump Cutters UK. Lee is a passionate and dedicated sales professional having spent the last six years with leading machinery dealers Lister Wilder and is committed to building and supporting the new network of FSI partners around the country.

On his new role, Lee commented “My passion for the industry, coupled with my extensive experience in machinery sales will drive our efforts to provide top-notch service. I look forward to working closely with our valued partners, providing them with technical and practical support where required, to ensure that FSI remains the preferred choice for stump cutting solutions.”

FSI Stump Cutters Managing Director Kim Schmidt adds, “We are thrilled to deepen our roots in the UK with this new subsidiary and are delighted to welcome Lee on board to help us achieve that. Our commitment has always been to provide exceptional quality and service. By establishing a closer connection with local partners, we aim to elevate the level of support and expertise available to owners and operators throughout the UK and reinforce our position as a leader in the arboriculture industry.”

Yardex Enters UK Market

Yardex Enters UK Market: American company Yardex is bringing sustainable synthetic turf to the European market using their new $30 million production facility.

Yardex comes from the founders and operators of Stadia Sport and Leisure Solutions and has over 20 years of experience in the industry, completing over 1000 sports and landscaping projects in North America, Africa, the Middle East, and areas of Europe. As part of its broader strategy, the company is fully expanding into Europe with an initial focus on Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Spain.

Yardex Enters UK Market

Yardex Enters UK Market

Ensuring high quality in all these markets is crucial to Yardex and is the reason behind the purpose-built manufacturing facility. Using the most advanced machinery on the market guarantees consistent precision and quality while maintaining key environmental targets.

To date, the consistently high quality of these products has been a cornerstone of Yardex’s success, but how they are made and their longevity set them apart in the industry.

Walid Elhusseiny, Yardex CEO and co-founder, explains: “We want to lead the industry in a flexible, innovative, and sustainable way while setting new standards for the quality of artificial turf. That means having responsible solutions such as partially recyclable products made from recycled plastics, and we can only achieve that by having the tools in-house.

“Our manufacturing lines are exceeding expectations in terms of meeting global environmental standards and regulations, eliminating any sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and CO2 emissions that could result during the manufacturing process. Using the latest technologies available not only protects the world we live in but also maintains our team’s health and safety at the highest levels and keeps our energy consumption at optimized levels whilst achieving the minimal amount of waste you can in this industry.

“Using materials free of lead and VOC (volatile organic compounds) places Yardex at a top level in terms of sustainability and providing safe products for everyone.

“Constructing our own process also means we were able to build-in quality control at every stage. Using automation, we know that we’re always providing artificial grass that meets the highest standards and gives customers the best-performing turf available.”

A Second Life for Artificial Turf

“In April 2020, an AMI consulting report stated in 2019 that about 38% of the sports turf installed was replacing old turf,” Walid Elhusseiny explains. “Some 61Mm2 of synthetic grass has required disposal. By 2023, replacement turf is expected to reach 42% of demand, so this industry challenge continues to grow.

“Our turf can have a second life as a downgraded product, be donated by sports clubs to the community, or be partially recycled. As a Synthetic Turf Council member, we actively promote environmentally responsible operations and encourage conversation and education through sponsoring events.

“Sustainability touches many corners of our industry, and we’re always working on how we fit into it, and we’ll continue our research and development with the aim of producing 100% sustainable products.”

Yardex’s mission to be a one-stop shop for artificial turf is taken further with its personalized customer experience. European distribution centres are being implemented to ensure fast delivery of standard products and establish networks to deliver custom colour and logo orders quickly.

Visitors to FSB 2023 can explore the Yardex portfolio in Hall 10.2, Stand C018-D019, and experience the latest polyurethane and latex coated products for professional sports and landscaping.

Allen fast-tracked his way through an SVQ at Oatridge Agricultural College, completing a level 2 and 3 Amenity and Horticulture (Sports Turf) course in three years as opposed to four. This keenness to learn continued during his role as Assistant Head Greenkeeper at Duns Golf Club, where he went on to complete additional industry training and obtain all relevant qualifications.

A position with a leading groundcare dealership then arose which saw Allen carve out a career in sales, working with leading franchises and playing a pivotal role in the field team, supporting customers across the Lothians and Borders. From here, he then went on to become an Area Sales Manager for STIHL in Scotland, before more recently holding the position of Groundcare Division Manager at Pearsons of Duns/ Border Chainsaw & Lawnmower Services.

This wealth of industry understanding serves Allen well for his new position at Redexim UK – joining during a busy summer period and eager to get stuck into this important role, building strong relationships with customers old and new and working closely with Redexim partners across his area. Commenting on his appointment Allen says, “I’m proud to be joining the Redexim team at such an exciting time in their development and look forward to playing my part in growing the brand and supporting our excellent partners in their endeavors of getting the fantastic product range to market.”

Until recently, you would have frequently found Allen on the rugby pitch outside of work, having played senior rugby for 13 years and spending two years as club captain. With that hobby now put to bed, Allen enjoys the occasional round of golf and is a proud family man, spending as much of his free time as possible with his partner and two daughters.

From the 31st of July Allen Whellans can be contacted by phone on 07831 180275 or via email awhellans@redeximuk.com
