More kits, more value

More kits, more value: Toro’s MVP (maintenance value performance) kits are widely known as one of the most effective solutions to minimising downtime. And for 2020 there’s a new pack available through UK distributor Reesink Turfcare offering more value and more time working, not waiting.

MVP kits were designed with specific maintenance and repairs in mind and extending the range of handy kits is the new Blade pack for the Groundsmaster 1200. It joins, among others, Groundsmaster Deck Kits, Groundsmaster Blade and Belt Kits and Groundsmaster Caster Wheel Kits.

All packs have one thing in common, they help save time and money. They help you track maintenance and bring peace of mind that you have the parts you need to keep your equipment on the job. So, instead of spending valuable time sourcing individual parts as issues arise, grounds teams can purchase all the parts they need for a particular maintenance or rebuild job in one convenient box that comes with the added benefit of saving up to 20 percent in repair expenses.

Michael Hampton, Reesink Turfcare parts manager, comments: “Now more so than ever, machinery repairs and downtime need to be kept to a minimum and costs in check. It has never been more important for machines to work as an extension to the team, efficiently and effectively. And that’s where MVP kits come into their own, having all the required parts included in a single package to make ordering and completing the job easier and less expensive.”

Each pack come with instructions giving advice on when to perform specific maintenance tasks depending on the model and the number of hours of use, helping to prevent running machines into the ground and incurring unnecessary costs to repair them.

Michael continues: “Cutting grass efficiently is at the forefront of groundskeepers’ minds and highly productive machines are the means to achieving this. Downtime is a costly obstacle. Toro’s MVP kits enable you to react and resolve maintenance or repair issues immediately, keeping uptime at an all-time high.”

Added to this, if used to perform regular maintenance, MVP kits keep cost of ownership low and allow for more accurate forecasting when setting budget aside for parts and servicing.

Investing in Toro MVP kits is, says Reesink Turfcare, a wise decision. For more information contact distributor Reesink’s Toro parts department on 01480 226854, go to reesinkturfcare.co.uk, or visit your local dealer.

New Soil Scout and GreenSight partnership

New Soil Scout and GreenSight partnership: The team behind the wireless underground soil monitoring solution Soil Scout has announced a new equal distribution partnership with US-based GreenSight, a leading provider of autonomous aerial intelligence services for golf courses.

The technology partnership will give greenkeepers a real-time understanding of how to create optimal above and below ground conditions for their courses while increasing efficiency on water and nutrient usage.

“Understanding what happens is critical if fields are to reach their true potential,“ said Soil Scout CEO Jalmari Talola. “When it comes to greenkeepers, their challenge is real – to maintain extremely high-quality surfaces over large areas while facing pressure to cut water consumption and act in an environmentally sustainable way.

“Our technology partnership with GreenSight will see Soil Scout Sensors strategically buried across golf courses, giving greenkeepers instant insight into what’s happening below their soils. These insights will be combined in GreenSight’s TurfCloud platform with a cutting-edge machine vision analysis of the entire golf course captured by drone-mounted sensors. Greenkeepers will see everything happening on their courses – and be able to plan their day’s work – before they set foot outside.”

The equal partnership will see Soil Scout acting as a reseller of the GreensSight TurfCloud product line in Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, with GreenSight acting as Soil Scout reseller and distributor in the United States.

GreenSight CEO James Peverill commented, “GreenSight is excited to be able to offer our industry-leading product, TurfCloud, through the Soil Scout Company. Being able to add Soil Scout to our dashboard will greatly add to the data already being captured.

“We look forward to helping their customers manage their soils more efficiently and improve their facilities across the world. We’re equally excited to be able to distribute their intuitive soil condition sensors to our growing customer base.”

Recently backed by Husqvarna last year’s seed funding round, Soil Scout was co-founded by Finnish agrotechnology Ph.D. and 19th generation farmer Johannes Tiusanen and electronics expert M.Sc.Eng Jussi Sirkiä with a mission of giving soil experts the information they need to effectively manage their lands. The Soil Scout team will work with GreenSight’s experienced robotics, spacecraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones), advanced communications, agriculture and land management professionals to further develop new products and services for their customers.

Chart Hills announce renovation project

Chart Hills announce renovation project: Ramac Holdings Ltd, the new owners of Chart Hills Golf Club, today announced the commencement of major redevelopment works across the picturesque Kent facility.

Since the company acquired Chart Hills in December 2019, the in-house team, led by James Cornish and Anthony Tarchetti, have been working tirelessly on a strategy that will see the extensive redevelopment and improvement of the entire 250 acre property.

From mid-to-late July the golf course will officially be closed to allow green staff and industry-leading contractors to work seamlessly to complete work on all 18-holes with the renovated Nick Faldo Design course ready for play at the start of the 2021 golf season or sooner if growing conditions are favourable.

The first steps taken to elevate the visual and playing aspects of the course include extensive irrigation and sand-capping to the fairways with over 20,000 tonnes of sand. Once seeded, grown and manicured, the new fairways will enable members, guests and visitors to enjoy improved playing surfaces year-round.

During this period, Chart Hills will also be making large-scale changes to the remainder of the facility including a purpose-built driving range, upgraded short game area, additional practice putting green and a refurbished clubhouse.

“It is extremely exciting to see this project get underway”, said Anthony Tarchetti.

“The investment that we are making is significant. It is going to take time, but we are confident that the end result will cement Chart Hills’ place among the very best golfing destinations in the South East.”

In order to ensure the most efficient return to regular golf for members and guests, it was decided that all 18-holes should remain closed until the point of completion, shaving an entire year off the original projected completion date. Initial work is underway on the front nine holes with the back nine set to be completed by winter to allow for a significant period of growth prior to the scheduled reopening.

Ramac Holdings Ltd are also the owners of Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich Bay, Kent. Over recent months and years, the company has proven itself to be more than capable of maximising the potential of a golfing venue having made significant renovations at Prince’s which have been lauded by many. So much so, that the club has recently re-entered the UK & Ireland top 100 lists in Golf World, National Club Golfer and on top100golfcourses.com.

Carnoustie announces John Deere partnership

Carnoustie announces John Deere partnership: Carnoustie Golf Links Chief Executive Michael Wells announced today that a strategic partnership with John Deere has been secured, following a detailed period of exclusive discussions between the two organisations, whose joint vision laid the groundwork for today’s announcement.

The formalisation of the partnership will harmonise flagship greenkeeping practices with leading technology and R&D, as this alliance looks to lead the conversation in sustainability and best practice in golf course maintenance.

For both organisations, this important development will further enhance their significant independent successes in this area and combine two leading industry names to maximise opportunities and aid innovation.

For staff in each organisation, this will also see significant value investments designed to create new professional development and learning opportunities, in addition to supporting a wide range of charitable and apprenticeship programmes, including Carnoustie’s 250-strong junior golf development hub The Carnoustie Craws.

Today’s announcement is a meaningful new chapter in Carnoustie’s story and sees the merging of two historic organisations. Carnoustie held the first of its eight Open Championships in 1931, but it was long before this that a great many young clubmakers, golf professionals and greenkeepers (known as The Carnoustie 300) left Carnoustie to take golf worldwide, helping to change the face of the game forever.

This eight-time Open Championship venue is known for delivering change in the game of golf and is held by many to be the ancestral home of American and Australian golf.

“Our goal was to conceive a partnership based on shared values that went well beyond the provision of greenkeeping equipment,” said Carnoustie Golf Links Chief Executive Michael Wells. “Carnoustie and John Deere can now work together to lead the conversation as the golf industry looks to modernise its approach to golf course management, with a partnership that will focus on innovation and development.”

John Deere’s European Golf & Turf Sales and Marketing Manager Carlos Aragones added: “John Deere is fully committed to the manufacture and support of advanced, high quality equipment for the world’s best golf courses. We will be honoured to see our machinery at work on the Championship, Burnside and Buddon Links Courses at Carnoustie Golf Links, and look forward to establishing a close and fruitful partnership with this historic club.”
