We are looking for a full time, head greenkeeper to lead our experienced team of greenkeepers. You will be responsible for improving and maintaining the course, ensuring it is presented to our members and guests in the best possible condition.

Ideally you will have: 

– Experience in head greenkeeper or deputy greenkeeper role

– NVQ level 3, sports turf management

– A good working knowledge of machinery maintenance and irrigation systems

– Chainsaw and spraying qualifications

– Understanding of health and safety legislation

– Ability to lead and develop a team

– Working to a tight budget

– Ideas for improving the course, working in harmony with nature and the environment

Opening summer 2023, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a newly-formed team responsible for the final stages of growing-in and preparations for a brand new 18-hole golf course and next-generation Toptracer® Range.

London Airlinks Golf Course is located close to our flagship golf venue – Richmond Park Golf Course, so additional support and resources are close at hand.

The role reports to our Regional Course Manager.

Duties

  • Managing and delivering the maintenance and improvement plan for the golf course and amenity areas.
  • Managing budgets, finance and resources for your department
  • Recruitment, selection and training of staff.
  • Servicing, maintenance and safe operation of the machinery fleet and annual service contracts with external suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of sports turf management including pesticide and feed applications.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of irrigation and drainage systems.
  • An understanding of modern advances in materials, machinery and greenkeeping techniques.
  • Keeping up to date with all Health & Safety regulations and being able to complete risk assessments.
  • Carry out quality and maintenance audits to ensure we achieve KPI standards.

In addition to having the appropriate greenkeeping knowledge and skills for the position the successful candidate will demonstrate the following attributes :-

  • Enthusiastic individual who has an eye for detail.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Open and honest.

The Person

  • Previous experience in a similar management role.
  • NVQ Level 2.
  • PA1, PA2, PA6.

Would you like a job working in golf? Then we’ve got a fantastic opportunity, available immediately!. Richmond Park Golf Course is one of the UK’s busiest golf venues with two 18-hole courses, driving range, academy course and the Nineteen Bar & Kitchen.

We are now looking for a Greenkeeper to join our team of 8. The role would suit someone ideally with previous Greenkeeping experience but full training can be given. A good understanding of grounds maintenance and health and safety is an advantage..

This is a full time position and due to the nature of the position, you must be available to work early starts and some weekend cover.

Duties include:

  • Driving range maintenance and ball collections
  • Assisting with presentation around the entire estate including the golf course, clubhouse and surrounding areas
  • General maintenance and upkeep of the golf course
  • Cutting greens, fairways and rough using ride-on mowers
  • Bunker edging and raking
  • Strimming and use of handheld power tools

You will be based with our Greenkeeping team, located within the stunning surroundings of Richmond Park nature reserve. Experience or a passion of working in a grounds maintenance environment is preferred.

Requirements of successful candidate:

  • Good Communicator

  • Golf Greenkeeping Level 2
  • Advanced Golf Greenkeeping Level 3
  • Sports Turf Operative Level 2

If you:

  • Are occupationally competent demonstrated by work experience in the sector
  • Are qualified to a level 3 or above
  • Hold, or be officially working towards, a nationally recognised assessor qualification, e.g. A1, Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)
  • Have relevant work experience with a minimum of 3 years working in the sector

If you hold all of the relevant experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills to perform this role but however, do not hold a nationally recognised assessor qualification please still do apply and we can discuss next steps to support you with obtaining this through our assessor training program.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Hold or be working towards a recognised assessment qualification and have proven competence in assessment
