Dennis G34D Gives The Red Bulls A Boost

Dennis G34D Gives The Red Bulls A Boost: Dan Shemesh, Director of Stadium and Training Grounds for the New York Red Bulls has reported excellent results since purchasing a Dennis G34D cylinder mower.

Dennis G34D Gives The Red Bulls A Boost

In 2009, after seven years at the Philadelphia Eagles Dan Shemesh landed the role of Director of Grounds at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey home of the New York Red Bulls MLS team.

As the Director of Grounds, Dan’s responsibilities include overseeing the pitches at the 25,000 seat stadium and training grounds, as well as maintaining the surrounding landscape. Now in his eighth season with the New York Red Bulls, the pitch has significantly improved and Dan feels that it has reached another level since trading his ride-on mower for a Dennis G34D cylinder mower.

“I had heard a lot about the Dennis G34D,” says Dan. “So we talked to other groundsmen who were using them and after glowing reports we decided to try one for ourselves. A demonstration was arranged through CS Trading LLC (local dealer) and off the back of that we decided it would be extremely beneficial to have one.”

The Dennis G34D has been designed and built following the same concept as the popular Dennis G860 machine – which is relied upon in stadium environments all over the globe. Available in three different cutting sizes – 26”, 30” and 34” – the mowers incorporate a large-diameter eight bladed cutting cylinder to cater for a wide range of uses to leave a precision cut. The handlebar design makes manoeuvring easy and the wide adjustment makes it comfortable for all cutting heights.

“We like using the machine because of the superior presentation it offers us,” says Dan. “It is simple, easy to adjust, and can be set-up in minutes – it is also comfortable, lightweight and smooth to operate. The controls are easily accessible which makes using the machine easy to control and quick to learn.”

“Dennis is a good reliable company that makes durable machines for high quality pitches around the world.”

Först To Showcase Full Range At Confor Woodland

Först To Showcase Full Range At Confor Woodland: Först, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high performance and robust woodchippers, is set to showcase its complete range of wheeled, tracked and PTO machines, including the new ST6 P petrol model, at this year’s Confor Woodland show at Longleat Estate.

Först To Showcase Full Range At Confor Woodland

The ST6 P, Först’s first sub 750kg woodchipper, was launched to the UK market earlier this year and is an extension of Först’s popular range of six-inch capacity machines. Powered by a 37hp V twin petrol engine, the compact and lightweight woodchipper matches the strength and performance that users have come to expect from Först’s diesel powered machines.

Visitors to brand’s stand will be able to get hands on with the product and talk to the Först experts to discuss the benefits of switching over to a petrol machine.

Also on stand will be Först’s XR8 Traxion, an 8” x 10” tracked machine that can traverse banks due to its parallel linkage system, its original ST6 wheeled woodchipper and its high performance PT8 machine, alongside the ST8, TR6 and TR8 models.

Doug Ghinn, Director at Först, said: “We are very passionate about the Först brand and how far we’ve come within the industry in such a short period of time. The diverse line-up of machines we’re exhibiting at Confor Woodland demonstrates this, as we now offer the complete range of woodchipper solutions to arborists, farmers, contractors and landscapers.

“The response we’ve had to the ST6 P suggests it’s going to be our most popular machine to date, offering the same power, performance and durability Först is known for, but at less than 750kg and using a petrol engine. As an industry heavily dominated by diesel, it’s been very satisfying to prove that there are credible alternatives as we gear up to Stage V in 2019.”

Ventrac Dealer Network Grows Apace Across The UK

Ventrac Dealer Network Grows Apace Across The UK: The Ventrac dealer network continues to grow in the UK with the appointment of two new dealers – Frank Nicol Farm & Garden Machinery Ltd and Cheshire Turf Machinery.

Ventrac Dealer Network Grows Apace Across The UK

Rupert Price, Managing Director of Price Turfcare, the UK and Ireland distributor of the Ventrac 4500 compact tractor, has been busy building his dealer base since taking over the franchise in January 2017.

“We’re seeing a lot of sales momentum now following six months of extremely hard work travelling the length and breadth of the UK demonstrating the machines and attachments,” he said. “I’ve also been busy signing reputable dealers who I know will be dedicated to selling the product and, more importantly, providing exceptional back-up and support. Frank Nicol and Cheshire Turf Machinery certainly fulfil those criteria.”

The family-run business, Frank Nicol Farm & Garden Machinery was founded in 1987 in Dingwall, Ross-Shire and has grown consistently over the past 30 years, becoming a significant distributor of groundscare equipment in the highlands of Scotland.

David Nicol, Sales & Service Director said

“My father always said that so many things are just built to be sold and not to last. His view is that if you cannot service it then you should not sell it. That’s why we have taken Ventrac. It’s a very well made piece of equipment, yet easy to work on. It’s also very versatile because of the numerous attachments that can be mounted on it. We’re looking forward to getting out there and showing potential customers just what it can do.”

Cheshire Turf Machinery Ltd was established in 1996 by Steve Halley, Mark Woodward and Peter McGreevy, to supply and service professional groundscare equipment. It grew quickly and as a result of continued sales growth in the golf sector. In 2013 Cheshire Turf Machinery became agents for the Toro Groundscare range of machinery (council and sports field mowers), which enabled the business to enter a market sector which they had not previously explored.

“We are extremely pleased to be joining the Ventrac dealer network and working with Rupert Price and his team to promote the product,” Steve Halley said. “It complements our Toro brand and is a niche machine that suits both the golf and municipal contractor sectors. I’ve been in this business for many years now and I’m really impressed with the all-round attributes of this machine; it’d certainly one of a kind and is very good for multiple applications.”

Vandals Target Cricket Club

Vandals target cricket club: Vandals have damaged the pitch at Alton Cricket Club by driving a vehicle over it.

A series of tyre ruts has scarred the outfield at the Jubilee Playing Fields in Chawton Park Road.

The culprits also drove over the square – but this was unscathed, as the constantly rolled earth is much harder.

Alton Cricket Club has informed Hampshire Constabulary and hopes that police will patrol the ground in the evening, when it believes this and other recent incidents have occurred.

A statement from the club read: “Alton Cricket Club are very disappointed that someone has taken the decision to vandalise the facility at Jubilee Playing Fields.

“The cricket club have worked very closely with the town council over the past four to five years to improve the facility for all who use it, not just the cricket club.

“The work undertaken led to the club winning the most improved ground in the county in 2016, and we have received many commendations from visiting clubs in the last year.

“This is the fourth incident which has happened in the last eight to 10 weeks, including a broken window and theft of furniture which was used by not only the club but also by some of the elderly dog walkers.

“We are working with the town council to look at ways to prevent a repeat of this and hopefully they will be in a position to do something shortly.”

Alton Cricket Club chairman Richard Myers, who was at the ground on Friday morning, said the fourth incident was the kicking of a football on to the pavilion roof, causing a leak.

Talking about the damage to the pitch, he said: “We discovered this on Wednesday morning and think it probably happened on Tuesday night.

“It’s not kids doing it, it’s adults – they’re driving cars. You can see where they escaped by the tyre marks on the bank.

“It was worse than this at first, because we’ve rolled it since. But when you’re fielding, you wouldn’t want a cricket ball hitting that at 80mph.

“I’m down here between 20 and 30 hours a week, working on the outfield so Martin the groundsman can concentrate on the square, and I felt like giving up when I saw this.

“Ideally there should be a barrier to prevent entry at the car park end when the ground is not in use. Most dog walkers do a lap of the playing fields, so they could use the entrance at the other end and still see all the same things as they go around.”

Alton Town Mayor Cllr Dean Phillips said: “It is so disappointing that the mindless act of a few should detract from all of the hard work that goes into providing and maintaining high quality sports facilities in the town.

“It is equally frustrating for Alton Cricket Club’s players and officials who dedicate a lot of their own time in assisting Alton Town Council’s grounds team in preparing the Jubilee cricket wickets to such a high standard that last season they were rewarded with a Most Improved Ground award from the Southern Premier League.”
