The Salsco greens rollers already come with high-praise from existing Golf Course Managers who have stated that their greens rolling time had been cut by nearly a third with the product. As well as time-saving being a key benefit the presentation and playability of the green is said to have been improved dramatically. With an impressive list of prestigious Golf Clubs such as The Wisley, Royal Cinque Ports, Worpleston and Parkstone currently using the rollers, there is a clear and encouraging customer base to build upon.

Lister Wilder has grown relationships with Golf clients for over 25 years and this addition will strengthen their offering. Their current strapline #SaleswithService transfers across all areas of the Lister Wilder portfolio with this addition being no different. Ensuring a prosperous business going forward, Lister Wilder will also be supplying spare parts and after-sales services for existing machines in the UK.

The HP11-lll models being the most popular, the company will firstly concentrate on stocking these to ensure efficient supply. Other models of the green’s rollers will be available for customers to specially order.

Lister Wilder will also be looking at sub-dealer opportunities for the right business, interested parties should contact Phill Hughes for more information.

The TDR 250 measures soil moisture (volumetric water content) in less than a second, with settings for standard, hi-clay, or sand texture soils. With a rugged, T-handle frame and exclusive LCD display, the user-friendly TDR can capture accurate measurements across the green or sports field. Data logs (up to 124,000 measurements) can then be downloaded and transferred via a USB flash drive.  All of Spectrum®’s TDR meters offer interchangeable soil probes at varying lengths, so customers can choose the best option for their turf root zone.

“Spectrum Technologies is responding to what the turf market has been asking for,” says Mike Thurow, President and CEO. “The TDR 250 has been specially designed for courses with lower maintenance budgets.  With the TDR 250, turf managers will receive Spectrum’s precision measurement technology while investing 20 percent less.”

Through use of the TDR 250, golf course managers can conserve water and reduce labor costs.  Data can objectively be collected, resulting in more effective decision-making around irrigation and pesticide scheduling. The result is optimized playing conditions and less stress on course management staff.

Engcon supplies tiltrotators

Engcon supplies tiltrotators: With its 17 tons and a raw power engine of 255 horsepower, the Euromach R145 can call itself the world’s largest spider excavator. Able to perform all conceivable functions from one and the same position whilst climbing steep terrain. And to help improve efficiency, it has now been equipped with an Engcon tiltrotator.

”It is fantastic fun that we get to deliver our tiltrotator to the world’s largest spider excavator”, says Peter Högberg, from Sales at Engcon International.

The Italian firm Euromach manufactures spider excavators in sizes ranging from 1.5 tons up to 17 tons. They are specially built to be able to climb and function on steep terrain where conventional wheel and crawler excavators could not reach. The collaboration with Euromach has taken place via Engcon’s Italian dealer Spektra.

”Antonio Stucci of Spektra’s sales team and I have together specified an EC219 tiltrotator that fits the machine perfectly”, Peter Högberg continues.

A flexible climber with many smart features
The Euromach R145, also called the Big Foot, has four hydraulic and wheeled “legs” that can be pulled in and extended independently of each other both in width and length. This gives a working width from 2430 – 4740 mm and the length can vary from 5900 – 6700 mm. This makes Big Foot an agile climber and despite its weight, can be applied in ways few other vehicles could match.

When the machine is not standing still on its wheels, extra claws can be unfolded and with the help of this function, Big Foot can “claw” itself into the slopes. Once you are in place with the machine, for example deep down in a valley, it is seldom possible to reposition the machine and then the tiltrotator will come in handy. Because the tiltrotator acts as the machine’s wrist, Big Foot can easily rotate to the desired position.

”Euromach believe that with our tiltrotator, the driver can perform all conceivable functions from one and the same position, which makes the world’s largest spider excavator even more efficient and flexible”, says Peter Högberg.

BIGGA unveils new outdoor festival

BIGGA unveils new outdoor festival: The British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association has unveiled a brand new outdoor festival and exhibition, taking place in June 2021.

The event, called the Festival of Turf, will bring together the greenkeeping and turf management industry for two days of innovation, exhibition and entertainment.

Taking place in the COVID-secure setting of the Warwickshire Event Centre on 8 & 9 June 2021, the Festival of Turf will feature two full exhibition days with a wide range of trade stalls and opportunities to interact with vendors and meet face-to-face with industry peers for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

The Warwickshire Event Centre is located on the outskirts of Leamington Spa, close to Coventry. Centrally-located, the venue enjoys easy access to all transport networks, along with 2,000 free parking spaces.

The Warwickshire Event Centre can accommodate up to 200 exhibitors and is capable of welcoming 3,000 visitors a day through its doors. Set in a 30-acre site with both indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, the venue provides countless opportunities to make the Festival of Turf an innovative and exciting new event for the greenkeeping and amenity turf management industry.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic BIGGA has been in regular conversation with regulators, golf’s governing bodies and central government and there is widespread confidence that a successful event can take place in June 2021. Importantly, there is also a keen desire among commercial partners and industry professionals to provide an event that enables the industry to move forward and begin the process of rebuilding so many key relationships that have been eroded through the distance imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

BTME, BIGGA’s annual trade exhibition that was due to be held in January 2021, has been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the Association remains proud that the event’s spiritual home, the Harrogate Convention Centre, continues to be utilised as an NHS Nightingale Hospital.

BIGGA’s world-renowned education programme, Continue to Learn, has moved to an entirely-online format and will be held across two weeks during January 2021. More information can be found on the BIGGA website.

BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton said: “I’m excited that BIGGA is finally able to launch the Festival of Turf to the industry and bring some much-needed hope for a brighter future. The Festival of Turf is a hugely welcome opportunity to reunite our industry, which will have been forcibly separated by the global pandemic for nearly 18 months by the time this event takes place.

“The industry has survived brilliantly despite all the challenges it has faced, due in no small part to the resilience and adaptability of BIGGA members and the network of commercial partners and who have supported us all throughout the pandemic. There has been a clear groundswell of opinion that members, other turf professionals and commercial supporters want the opportunity to celebrate our achievements and put this whole terrible ordeal behind us – and that’s where the Festival of Turf comes in. The event will be an opportunity to reconnect at a time when personal connections have never been more vital.”
