As part of its commitment to improving the industry by way of its products, EGO also explains its own determination to reduce its own environmental impact. The catalogue summarises how new technologies installed at its research and development facility have helped to reduce its annual output of CO2 and sulphur dioxide emissions by over 3,355 tonnes and 75 tonnes respectively.

In addition, EGO also introduces an initiative which asks for the wider outdoor power tool, gardening and landscaping industries to join the business in making battery power the number one choice within the next five years.

The new catalogue includes details and technical information on EGO’s brand-new products for gardening and landscaping professionals, including its new 42cm self-propelled mower (LM1701E-SP), a 45cm chainsaw (CS1800E) and a variety of multi-tool attachments.

Also new to the range for 2020 is EGO’s new 10Ah lithium-ion battery (BA5600T) which offers operators extra runtime without the need for multiple batteries. As with all new batteries from 2020, the BA5600T includes a gauge which indicates the remaining power capacity meaning that users can plan their work based on the charge required to finish the task at hand.

Steve Roskell, Marketing Director EMEA at EGO, said: “Battery-powered outdoor power tools are more than capable of replacing the fume-belching petrol machines that have dominated our industry for too long. Our new catalogue for 2020 really outlines how serious we are about tackling the environmental impact of our industry and how we can work together for a greener future.

“Aside from showcasing our new zero-emission products, the catalogue provides professionals with all the answers to their questions about battery power and why EGO as a business is wholly committed to making a difference – from initiatives such as installing our new low carbon heating system to right down to having this catalogue printed on FSC paper!”

NEW LOOK FOR TRIPLE JUMPER BEN WILLIAMS IN MILESTONE YEAR

New look for Triple Jumper Ben Williams

New look for Triple Jumper Ben Williams in milestone year: British Triple Jumping Champion Ben Williams is sporting a brand new look as he prepares for one of the biggest years of his sporting career.

Ben, 28, was offered sponsorship by digger manufacturer JCB in September to support him in his efforts for success in global athletics competitions.
Now he has taken delivery of some new kit – JCB branded clothing bearing his name, which he will wear at events representing JCB.

Ben, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, said: “The year has started well for me and I have just returned from warm weather training in South Africa which was a fantastic way to begin preparations for the season. I’ve got more intensive training planned and lots of competitions lined up ahead of August. I’m feeling confident and it’s great to be in a position of not having to worry about finances in this important period thanks to the JCB funding.”

Ben was taught to triple jump by his Grandad on the pavement outside his Stoke-on-Trent home as a school boy. Last year he became British Champion with a life-time best jump of 17.27 metres – earning him a place in the Great Britain team for the World Championships last year. He secured sponsorship from JCB as he prepares for his ultimate goal – the summer games in 2020 in Tokyo.

Ben almost quit athletics a year ago after battling to come back from injury. With resources low, he started to personal train members at his local gym to make ends meet. In addition, he was completing 100-mile daily rounds trip to his triple jumping training sessions at Loughborough University in Leicestershire.  In August, he relocated permanently to Loughborough and gave up his PT job – and hasn’t looked back since.

Dennis G860 is essential at Colliers Park.

Reliable Dennis G860 is essential at Colliers Park

Reliable Dennis G860 is essential at Colliers Park: The Dennis G860 cylinder mower is the most reliable cylinder mower on the market according to Dylan Thompson, grounds maintenance manager, at the all-new Colliers Park in Gresford, Wales.

Built to inspire a new generation of stars, Colliers Park is primarily used to deliver training, coach education and player development. The stunning new, multi-million-pound facility was opened in the summer of 2019 and Dylan is the man responsible for maintaining the standards of facilities and pitches.

Upon embarking on his new role, Dylan felt that the most important thing was to get the right turf maintenance equipment in place.

“The Dennis G860 was a machine I was very keen on using here at Colliers Park because it is something I’ve used in the past,” he said. “With so much going on here it was peace of mind because it was something that I didn’t have to worry about because I know just how good they are. It is reliable and the best mower out there in my opinion.”

Dylan isn’t the only groundsman to be of this opinion as many of his peers have long relied on the G860 to provide the perfect cut for sports turf. Lightweight at just 166kg; it is easy to manoeuvre and comfortable to operate. The handlebar console houses the controls for – throttle, parking brake, roller drive and cutting cylinder drive.

The mower features a large diameter front roller with an adjustable scraper which has been designed for a precise height of cut control, giving an excellent finish on every occasion. The Dennis G860 also features an interchangeable cassette system to assist with a wide range of tasks such as including scarifying, verticutting, brushing, spiking, and slitting.

“For our two G860’s we have 8 bladed cutting cassettes, brushing and verticutting cassettes and sorrel rollers,” continued Dylan. “I can’t believe how easy it is to change the cassette system – we are not having to waste time messing about finding different spanners or anything like that. It’s all there ready to go.”

“The G860 is the perfect mower to give the pitch that all important final cut. It gives you the best finish and it provides those lovely ‘Dennis stripes’ – which is another reason why we purchased them.

“When it comes to verticutting, we like to do it as often as we can so that we can keep the pitches under control especially when it comes to disease. It’s important to keep the pitches as clean as possible and with the speed of the G860’s it is done in no time at all.

“The brush comes in handy if we don’t want to use the rotary mowers because we simply put the brushing cassette in to the G860. It’s a great option to have because with the brush you can be a little more aggressive in the tidy-up and really give the pitch a deep clean.

“Ultimately, the G860 is an essential mower because it can be used for so many different operations.”
