STRI Group & WANDA CTI sign strategic alliance: STRI Group, the world’s leading multidisciplinary service provider to the sports and environments sectors has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Wanda’s Cultural Tourism Planning & Design Institute (CTI), the subsidiary company of Wanda Cultural Industry Group, who is China’s largest cultural enterprise.

The cooperation is an exciting step forward for the Chinese football industry, as both parties, recognized as leaders in their respective fields will create international quality football facilities throughout China.

Building on the regional success already realized in China by STRI and Wanda, the cooperation will firstly set new industry standards for football surfaces then see the development of an elite R&D facility and design hub, supported by a new education offering. STRI will support Wanda as their local design and project management company as they roll out ambitious plans for multiple football venues throughout the country.

The R&D center will invite select industry stakeholders to have their products and systems positioned for validation and demonstration purposes, showcasing the very best in football pitch infrastructure and ongoing maintenance. STRI’s design capabilities will be supported locally by their construction partner Tizan Turf Science. Andrew Brooker, Company Director at STRI Group said ‘The cooperation is an exciting step forward for the development of new stadium and training venues in China, enabling facilities to compete on an international level’ Andrew went on to say ‘STRI Group are very pleased to have formed the cooperation with Wanda, who are now the world’s leading commercial real estate and sports company’.

The parties intend to engage architects and engineers to collaborate on the exciting projects already identified as future developments, bringing in the very best multidisciplinary teams to deliver world class venues.

STRI and Surface Performance form testing alliance

STRI and Surface Performance form testing alliance: STRI Group has struck an alliance with international turf testing house Surface Performance Ltd.

The global sports solutions provider has engaged with Surface Performance to work together providing sports surface design and testing services for artificial sports surfaces.

 

This collaboration is uniquely placed to combine the highest standard of international and regional expertise to improve artificial sports surfaces at all levels of facility to clients across the globe.

STRI and Surface Performance have worked extensively with major sports governing bodies and organisations. STRI delivered pitch consultancy for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Wimbledon Championships and UEFA, while Surface Performance provides accredited testing and certification for FIFA, World Rugby, FA and ITF standards.

The agreement will support the delivery of range of innovative testing products and data-driven services, including STRI’s new sports surface performance tracker – TurfSync.

Celebrating its 90th birthday this year, STRI has reinforced its position as market leader in the sports surface industry. Significant investments have been made, including the development of research facilities in Australia and Qatar and the launch of design and consultancy hubs in China, Hong Kong and the Middle East.

Established in 2012, Surface Performance have grown to be one of the market leaders in synthetic sports facilities testing, with their head office and laboratory located in London, UK.

STRI head of business development, Andrew Brooker, said: “The agreement ensures our respective businesses can provide a well-rounded service to our existing and future clients. We are pleased to be working with Surface Performance to be able to deliver both services to the global sports surface market.”

Surface Performance director, Callum Reid, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our team to work alongside STRI throughout the UK and globally. Greenkeeper’s Anglo-Portugese Alliance

Greenkeeper’s Anglo-Portugese Alliance: Henrique Ferreira, a 23-year-old Portuguese national, has been at The London Golf Club for just five months.  During a break from his studies, at agronomy college in his home country, he has been assisting Golf Courses & Estate Manager, Lee Sayers.  Headland Amenity work closely with his employers, Belas Golf Club, as well as The London Golf Club and were very happy to see this young greenkeeper gain valuable course preparation experience in the UK.

Henrique, a greenkeeper at his home course of Belas GC, came to London in April and his experience of using Headland Amenity products helped him fit right in! “Lee and the team included me in all of the daily tasks” he explains “from raking bunkers through to cutting all areas. I have also been involved with feeding, working with Headland Multigreen slow release fertiliser.”

“The biggest difference I have found between greenkeeping here and at home is the aeration programme – how frequently it is conducted and how it makes such a big difference to the quality of the course. All in all I have learnt a great deal and have to thank the whole greenkeeping and landscaping team at The London Club, for such a great experience.”
