Howardson Group appoints Scott Reynolds: Howardson Group has appointed Scott Reynolds as Key Account Manager, bringing over a decade of experience in the turfcare industry and an extensive knowledge of professional grounds maintenance products.

Scott began his career in turfcare nearly twelve years ago at RT Machinery Ltd, progressing through roles including Area Sales Representative, Area Sales Manager, Sales Manager and most recently General Manager. During the pandemic he also managed the after-sales and parts department, gaining valuable operational insight to complement his strong background in sales, demonstrations and customer support across leading turfcare brands, including Dennis and SISIS.

Commenting on his appointment, Scott said:

I take huge pride in supplying these products to a wide variety of customers, from grassroots sports clubs and schools to local authorities, contractors and professional sports grounds. As Key Account Manager, Scott will work closely with colleagues, dealers and end-users to drive sales across the Group’s three leading brands: Dennis, SISIS (including Syn-Pro) and Hunter Grinders. His focus will be on strengthening dealer relationships and supporting sales growth across the diverse customer base of sports facilities, contractors and local authorities.

“The role at Howardson Group was the logical next step in my career,” Scott added. “I’m looking forward to building on the great work already achieved and to helping the business and dealer network achieve even greater success.”

Scott brings with him long-standing industry relationships, having represented Dennis and SISIS for more than a decade. Joining ahead of the busy show season, he is eager to meet customers and dealers and plan for the future.

Outside of work, Scott is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. Actively involved in sport, he manages a non-league football club and plays cricket, giving him a personal as well as professional connection with the sports facilities sector.

AODES is the multinational All-Terrain Vehicle and UTV brand of the Shandong ODES industry company, established over thirty years ago in Shandong, China.

Blakewell Services is a family-run business founded by Richard Tanton, who has been in the agricultural trade since 1971. He built the business from selling and servicing tractors at home, expanding to a workshop until he outgrew the premises, and moving to Mill Road Trading Estate in Barnstable, where he continues to grow the family business. Blakewell Services has diversified over the years into horticultural, groundscare and garden machinery through purchasing other businesses and consolidating the company’s sites.

Richard brings over 27 years of experience in commercial leadership roles within the amenity and landscaping industry. Before joining Origin, he held senior positions at Scotts Professional, Everris, and ICL, where he demonstrated a strong track record of driving business growth, strategy development, and acquisition initiatives. Since joining Origin in July 2023 as Commercial Officer for the Sports and Landscapes sectors, Richard has made significant contributions, identifying areas for strategic improvement and implementing initiatives that have delivered measurable value. Richard will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of OAS.

Chris Clark, who previously held the role of MD with OAS, will continue as head of Origin’s Amenity division, currently comprising eight individual businesses. The Amenity division has been divided into two sub-divisions of Sports and Landscapes; Clive Whinnett has been appointed as Managing Director of the Sport division. This restructuring will increase focus on establishing and growing the Origin Living Landscapes brand as the leading solutions provider for the sports, landscape, and environmental sectors.

ICL Appoints Philip Mayes as Technical Area Sales Manager: ICL Turf & Landscape has appointed Philip Mayes as Technical Area Sales Manager, South.

In this role, Philip will be responsible for supporting golf and sports clubs across southern counties, predominantly Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, and West Sussex, working closely with distributors, greenkeepers, and sports turf managers to provide technical guidance and tailored solutions.

ICL Appoints Philip Mayes as Technical Area Sales Manager

Philip brings a wealth of experience in sports turf management, with a strong background in golf course maintenance and education. His career spans both the UK and the Middle East, where he has led high-profile projects in golf and sports turf. He holds an MSc in Horticulture (Sports Turf Management) from the University of Reading and a BSc Honours in Turfgrass Science and Golf Course Management from the University of Central Lancashire.

Philip’s UK-based experience is extensive. He spent 11 years as a senior lecturer and programme manager at Merrist Wood College, training future turf professionals in sports turf, landscaping, and grounds maintenance, as well as golf course architecture and construction. Additionally, he held the positions of Deputy Head Greenkeeper and Assistant Greenkeeper at golf clubs, alongside other turf management roles at various sporting venues.

His international experience includes working as Graduate Assistant Superintendent at The Old Collier Golf Club in Florida, and as Senior Sports Turf Manager and Project Manager in Doha, Qatar, where he oversaw the maintenance of five FIFA World Cup stadiums and training facilities before, during, and after the FIFA World Cup 2022. He also played a key role in developing a 430,000m² turf nursery to support the tournament’s pitch requirements. Prior to this, he worked in Dubai as a Project Manager and Training Manager, supporting major sports turf projects across the region.

Philip is also a keen golfer, enjoying the game whenever time allows, further strengthening his connection with the industry and his understanding of the needs of course managers. His hands-on experience in golf course maintenance, combined with his work in large-scale sports turf projects, means he is well-placed to help clubs optimise playing conditions while balancing sustainability and budgetary considerations.

Commenting on his new role, Philip said: “I’m excited to join ICL and help golf and sports clubs achieve the highest turf standards. With experience in golf course management, project execution, and education, I understand the challenges turf managers face. I’m looking forward to offering practical, research-driven solutions that improve playing surfaces.”
