Tom Calton, Managing Director of RTC Plant Services Ltd, said: “As one of the region’s largest independent sales, parts and service dealers, we bring a lot of local knowledge, expertise, experience and enthusiasm to selling and supporting the Bobcat range in these areas. Both I and my fellow Director, Dave Ellis, who heads up the sales side,  believe there are many fantastic opportunities to expand sales for Bobcat in this region in construction and rental markets as well as many other areas.”

A New University and Good Prospects

The fact that RTC has already been able to complete several sales of Bobcat mini-excavators so soon after being appointed bears this out – with a number of existing customers switching to Bobcat from other brands.

With the go-ahead being given for its first university to be built in the embankment area of Peterborough and new developments in infrastructure and other sectors, prospects are good not only in Peterborough, but also in the university city of Cambridge. Similar developments are underway and being proposed in towns such as Northampton and Corby in Northamptonshire and in Bedford and St Neots in Bedfordshire.

Ewen Gilchrist, Network Development Manager UK & Nordics for Doosan Bobcat EMEA, said: “From their outstanding facilities in the centre of Peterborough combined with good transport links, we are confident that RTC will provide the best possible service for both new and existing Bobcat customers in Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire. RTC has great local knowledge and a drive and passion for the Bobcat range that can only bring further success.”

The RTC 1996 Group: There’s Nothing We Can’t Service or Repair

Formed in 1996, RTC Plant Services is part of the group, RTC 1996 Ltd, along with its sister companies, RTC Hire Ltd and RTC Groundcare Ltd. Starting from a one man in a van business, RTC has grown rapidly into a highly professional organisation, supplying customers within a 100-mile radius of Peterborough.

As well as the Bobcat range of machines and attachments, RTC also offers a full selection of genuine Bobcat accessories and parts to support both new and existing Bobcat customers in its area. This is backed up by a stock of both brand new and second hand Bobcat machines for sale. Customers also benefit from RTC’s on-site service network, covering everything from emergency repairs to routine maintenance.

Tom Calton added: “We have four fully equipped service vans that allow our service engineers to visit customer’s premises and work sites throughout the region. We also have Class 2 trucks and other smaller lorries. From diggers to telehandlers, there’s nothing we can’t service or repair. Our fully equipped service department, with time served engineers, is more than capable of making sure that customers’ equipment is fully serviced and repaired.

“We also have a second to none parts department to cater for all parts requirements. With thousands of parts in stock, we can offer a prompt delivery service. Any parts that are not stocked we can usually get on an overnight service for dispatch the next day.”

The Bobcat Range

Bobcat offers 12 skid-steer loader models, complementing these wheeled machines with a selection of six compact track loaders.

The Bobcat mini-excavator range comprises 18 models with operating weights from 0.8 to 8.5 tonne, with the newest additions including the innovative R(Revolutionary)-Series models from 2-4 tonne.

The range of machines from Bobcat is completed by a choice of fifteen standard rigid frame telehandler models (as well as four models available as new Waste Expert telehandlers) and four rotary telehandlers, covering maximum lifting capacities between 2.6 and 5.0 tonne and maximum lifting heights from 6.0 to 24.1 m.

For use with these machines and covering a massive array of applications, Bobcat offers a market-leading range of over 130 different families of attachments, from angle brooms, augers, breakers, buckets, snow blowers to planers, trenchers and wheelsaws.

EHS debut for Bobcat E10e

EHS debut for Bobcat E10e: Bobcat’s E10e, the industry’s first battery driven, zero tail swing mini-excavator in the one tonne class, will be shown on the Doosan Bobcat Stand I40 for the first time at the Executive Hire Show (EHS), the UK’s annual national exhibition for the tools, equipment and plant hire industry, being held in Coventry, England from 5-6 February 2020.

The Doosan Bobcat stand will also present the 7/31+ compressor generator from Doosan Portable Power, which incorporates an 8.5 kVA generator and is aimed at the utilities industry and rental companies serving this sector.

EHS debut for Bobcat E10e

Launched in 2007, the Executive Hire Show is a trade-only event open to rental company executives throughout the UK and Ireland, and it has also attracted hire industry visitors from Europe and beyond. Senior executives from the procurement and purchasing departments of the national hire operations attend the Show, along with large numbers of independently-owned entrepreneurial hire outlets.

Game Changer for Indoor Work

As well as indoor work such as demolition and basement projects, there are many other sites where zero emission, low noise machines are required such as urban/city centre developments, night-time work and contracts in quiet zones such as hospitals, cemeteries, schools and so on. Until now, particularly for indoor applications, there has been no standard OEM solution for such work – many jobs had to be worked on manually with less effective tools or with aftermarket conversions providing third party machine adjustments (that often did not meet desired standards). The new Bobcat E10e mini-excavator is a unique proposition in this area.

Developed at the Bobcat EMEA Innovation Center, in conjunction with electric vehicle suppliers, the E10e is based on the design of the very successful diesel powered E10 1 tonne mini-excavator, which has achieved sales of well over 10,000 units in just 10 years [the E10 is now called the E10z to reflect that it is a zero tail swing (ZTS) mini-excavator].

The new E10e has the same ZTS profile and identical external dimensions as the standard E10/E10z machine and offers equal or better performance. For example, the E10e offers very low noise levels on site with an LpA of only 71 dBA vs 80 dBA for the standard E10/E10z. As the new machine is designed to be used in demanding indoor applications such as breaker work in demolition, it is equipped with auxiliary lines and an efficient oil cooler system for continuous hydraulic breaker operation. The cooling system capacity has been increased to meet extended demolition application requirements.

Amazingly Compact

Like the E10/E10z, the E10e is easy to transport. In addition to the access provided by its retractable undercarriage reducing its width to only 710 mm, the integrated foldable TOPS (Tip Over Protective Structure) facilitates passage through openings with low headroom, for work inside buildings and in basements. Once the excavator is positioned and ready for work, the undercarriage on the E10e can be expanded to 1100 mm, for maximum stability in all working conditions. The E10e’s minimal width enables excellent manoeuvrability in confined spaces, while the ZTS design is an additional advantage when working in tight areas.

The E10e and E10z are part of a comprehensive selection of mini-excavators from Bobcat covering models from 0.8 to 8.5 tonne, alongside a full line-up of skid-steer, compact track and all-wheel steer loaders, telehandlers and attachments, all aimed at the tool and plant hire industry and the markets it serves.

Doosan Portable Power: Meeting the Needs of the Utilities Market

Compressor generators from Doosan Portable Power are aimed at the utilities industry and rental companies serving this sector. The larger 8.5 kVA generator option meets a specific requirement in utility work to meet the demands of the latest fusion welding equipment, providing electrical power that can also be used for lights and tools together with compressed air for powering breakers and other pneumatic equipment.

The generator option is available on two machines – the 7/31+ model, providing a free air delivery of 3.0 m3/min at an output pressure of 7 bar and the larger 7/41+ portable compressor, supplying 4.0 m3/min of compressed air at 7 bar output pressure.

Another option on these compressors is the ‘Tough Top’ polymer canopy combining durability with aesthetic design, making it an especially attractive investment for everyday applications in the toughest working conditions. In addition to its outstanding durability, the Tough Top canopy is also non-corrodible. It can be supplied in customer colours and retrofitted to existing Doosan compressor units.

Like all Doosan compressors, the modular design of the 7/31+ and 7/41+ ensures that a wide range of optional equipment can be added easily. As well as the polymer canopy, they can include LED lights, a Heavy Duty light grill, a number plate clip, wheel nut indicators and a ‘bunded base’.

Doosan Portable Power offers a comprehensive range of portable compressors, generators and lighting products for the plant and tool hire industry. Completing the line-up are construction tools such as air-powered chipping hammers, pickhammers, jackhammers and paving breakers for work in demolition, utilities, quarrying and industrial markets.

Bobcat introduce new branding

Bobcat introduce new branding: Bobcat has introduced a new branding identity which reflects the company’s iconic ‘One Tough Animal®’ brand message, while representing more powerfully the core qualities of Bobcat equipment: Tough, Agile and Versatile.

At the same time, the new look unifies and strengthens the visual identity of all Bobcat product lines. The new styling is now more modular and can be applied to machines of all different types and sizes.

Bobcat introduce new branding

As the first step of implementation of the new branding, the machine design element of the new scheme was used in the 2- to 4-tonne R-series mini-excavators launched last year. New styling decals have now been added and are being launched to complete the new brand identity. In the EMEA region, the M-series loaders (S450, S510 and S530) will be the first product line to carry the new styling – and these machines will be commercially available from January 2020. The next product line with the full new design in EMEA will be the R-series loaders, also in 2020, followed by others later next year.

New Styling Displays Strength

For a number of years now, Bobcat’s products have enjoyed a strong identity composed of white, black and orange colours with the Bobcat logo.

“The simple vertical and horizontal character lines and the flat surface of the styling have served us well,” explains Jin Hup Yeu, from the Doosan Design Center in Seoul, who led the design team. “Yet, this is a completely new design for a new era – and the very attractive silhouettes and optimal proportions emphasize its unique personality. Moreover, the new 3D-effect decal creates a more dynamic, 3-dimensional look-and-feel with the machine’s exterior design, evoking more emotion in the viewer.

“The graphic design also radiates a compact and robust look well-suited to the equipment. Instead of simply straight lines, the new design uses a slight curve to better convey strength and toughness. And with a stronger, sharper-and-edgier profile, the new design communicates a more advanced, high-tech image. Moreover, the Bobcat logo on the back is finished with a stronger and more visible styling, with slight variations to accentuate the design of the particular product line.”

Synergy of Tough, Agile and Versatile

The design language is slightly different according to the type, function and size of the equipment. For example, the compact machines emphasize the ‘Agile’ and ‘Versatile’ qualities with a look that is stylish and sleek. On the other hand, the larger tonnage machines put the focus on their ‘Tough’ and robust qualities.

By anchoring the new styling in the Tough, Agile and Versatile keywords of Bobcat’s DNA, the designers have breathed new dynamism into the equipment’s distinctive silhouette and the unique, time-honoured Bobcat image.

Bobcat presents new telescopic loaders

Bobcat presents new telescopic loaders: The top-of-the-range TL43.80HF Agri telescopic loader will be shown for the first time on the Doosan Bobcat Stand No 17.310 in Hall 17 at the LAMMA agricultural machinery show in Birmingham in the UK from 7-8 January 2020.

Bobcat will also show the TL30.60 model, which with the TL43.80HF is part of the newly expanded Bobcat range of seven telescopic loaders for the farming market covering maximum lifting capacities between 2.6 and 4.3 tonne with lifting heights from 6 to 8 m.

Bobcat presents new telescopic loaders

Another feature of the Bobcat LAMMA stand will be tracked loaders from Bobcat, emphasising some of the advantages they offer over wheeled machines in terms of traction, stability and lift capacity. These will include the first appearance in the UK of the Bobcat S70 quad-tracked concept machine, featuring quad-tracks that are bolted on to the frame of the loader. Alongside, Bobcat will also be showing the company’s smallest compact track loader – the T450.

Best Loading Productivity for Agriculture

The TL43.80HF Agri*** provides a real solution for the heavy-duty, high-productivity segment of the agricultural market, combining several new features to take lift capacity, lifting height and breakout force to unprecedented levels. Thanks to a maximum lift capacity of 4.3 tonne and a maximum lift height of almost 8 m, combined with the fastest boom movement available in this market and the high 190 l/min hydraulic flow, farmers are now able to lift more, faster and to use higher capacity buckets for the highest loading productivity available.

In addition, unlike any other manufacturer on the market, all Bobcat telescopic loaders including the TL43.80HF and TL30.60 are covered by a three year/3000-hour warranty as standard. There is also the option of extending the warranty to five years/5000 hours.

Adapting For Any Terrain With Tracks

The T450 presents what is already available in the market-leading compact track loader range from Bobcat. This is due to their unique characteristics as tool carriers and the wide array of attachments that they can work with, from trenchers, augers, graders, soil conditioners, scarifiers and dozer blades to more specialist attachments such as flail cutters and wood chippers. As tool carriers, compact track loaders can provide increased productivity in many conditions with a lifting capacity approximately 25% more than the equivalently sized wheeled loaders.

Low Ground Pressure

Approximately three times less than wheeled machines, the low ground disturbance of compact track loaders allows them to work on delicate surfaces, such as established lawns or asphalt roads for surface repair and utility work, minimizing damage and reducing the need for tidying up after the job is complete. While wheeled machines may outperform tracked machines for sheer manoeuvrability on hard surfaces, the rubber tracked undercarriage on track loaders ensures improved traction and stability on rough terrain; soft, sandy surfaces and in wet, muddy conditions.
