ClearWater A Hit At BTME

ClearWater A Hit At BTME: ClearWater proved to be popular at a very successful BTME for Acumen Waste Services Ltd. with a good number of enquiries taken.

ClearWater’s sales and development manager, Matthew Mears, was most impressed with the first show he was responsible for and commented: “A great show that served two purposes; a chance for former Highspeed directors Andy Vincent and Dave Mears to say their goodbyes after a 25 year stint at BTME and also, for Acumen to establish themselves as part of BTME and demonstrate commitment to the future of ClearWater with customers old and new!”

The stand was certainly busy and footfall up on last year with more overseas interest too. The latest ClearWater display unit was on hand and proved useful to explain the virtues of the system (as our photo shows). There were many visits from Greenkeepers and others with specific interest in washpad compliance and had seen pre-show publicity for ClearWater.

Towards the end of the last day the big event was the Prize Draw. Steve Lloyd (seen here), course manager of The Worcestershire GC and last year’s winner was happy to make the draw. The system was won by Crosland Heath GC, a heathland course with stunning views located on the outskirts of Huddersfield, designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie and formed in 1914. The winning entry was placed by head greenkeeper Richard Holmes. Richard was delighted to learn of the win and said: “Very happy to be compliant now. ClearWater is what we have wanted for a long time; something we have strived towards”. A new ClearWater system will be on its way to Crosland Heath very soon!

A great show for Acumen and ClearWater and with impressive organisation and support from the BIGGA team!

The AR321 (standard model) and AR331 (premium model) are 3WD rotary triple mowers featuring 24.8hp Kubota diesel engines. The AR321 is fitted with relay control and analogue gauges as standard, for ease of use and serviceability. The AR331 has additional features such as a digital information display, a joy stick control for lifting and lowering decks, and a superior comfort suspension seat. The AR331 also features AdaptiShift technology, allowing the decks to glide effortlessly side-to side to mow those hard-to-reach areas.

The TR320 (standard model) and the TR330 (premium model) are triplex cylinder mowers. The TR320 has many great features including the ability to raise the cutting units to a vertical position, reducing the width of the mower to a minimum of 1.55m, making transportation, access and storage a breeze. The TR330 also features the additional benefit of AdaptiShift technology, a superior comfort suspension seat and intuitive digital controls.

As one of the groundcare industry’s major manufacturing companies, Textron Golf will also be showcasing other mowers and aeration equipment from Jacobsen, golf cars from E-Z-GO  plus Cushman utility vehicles and turf maintenance equipment from Turfco.

MJ Abbott Return To BTME

MJ Abbott Return To BTME: MJ Abbott will be returning to BTME 2018 in Harrogate, bringing with them over 25 years of experience in golf course construction, renovation maintenance and irrigation.

Over this period the company has gathered invaluable experience across all aspects of golf course construction and maintenance, but also the art of first-class customer service and delivering exactly what clients request.

MJ Abbott Return To BTME

This ethos has seen some major recent projects including Royal Norwich Golf Club’s new £10 million course and club house, with MJ Abbott undertaking the £4.5 million land redevelopment. This project is joined by works at Skipton Golf Club, Royal Wimbledon Golf Club, Sunningdale Golf Club and Queenwood Golf Club to name a few.

Being able to meet the needs of the customer is important for all jobs, but none more so than building a new course. All of MJ Abbott’s qualities as a contractor were required when it came to being awarded this contract, and Peter Todd, estates manager and director of Royal Norwich Golf Club Limited explains what contributed to the Norfolk club awarding the work.

“We looked at level of resources, how much labour was in house and how much was sub-contracted, financial stability of the company, their track record and reputation,” Peter said. “So, there was a whole host of measures in place and it was scored by a professional panel.

“A major benefit for MJ Abbott was that they could offer the irrigation along with drainage and construction, because it meant we only needed one contractor on the course and kept everything within the one team.”

Being able to offer every service allows MJ Abbott to work with clients large and small, with greenkeepers from all courses welcome to speak to our experienced staff on stand A49.

Sherriff Amenity At BTME

Sherriff Amenity At BTME: Sherriff Amenity will be launching the unique InterMix Tank on stand B34 at BTME in January. Visitors will also be able to see a wide range of market leading products designed to help greenkeepers and course managers maintain their courses to the highest possible standard.

InterMix Tank enables the user to mix a variety of products in order to meet a wide range of nutrient requirements. This unique 1200 litre capacity tank is fitted with a high quality Honda GX engine and centrifugal high output pump which ensures rapid and thorough mixing.

The spray solution can then be transferred into the application sprayer using the 5 metre transfer hose which is fitted with a petrol pump type dispensing valve – enabling a much reduced spraying time when spraying large areas through a reduction in the refilling of the spray tank. To support the launch at BTME an extensive range of InterMix product options will be available.

The exhibition is also an ideal opportunity to find out exactly why Sherriff’s renowned Marathon fertiliser range should be incorporated into any maintenance plan. This impressive portfolio features a wide range of organic based controlled release fertilisers suitable for a number of amenity requirements.

With five existing products in the Marathon Sport range – Autumn, Pre-Seed, Spring, Summer and Lawn Mini Pack, and four products in the Marathon Golf range – TCR, Spring, Summer, and Autumn – there is a solution for every requirement.

Other fertilisers featuring on the stand are; Marathon Horti K – a patented blend of mineral and organic fertilisers for shrubs, hanging baskets, bedding and potted plants; VitalBase – a granular, organic soil improver that stimulates microbial activity and reduces thatch; Ferromel 20 – a water soluble formulation of iron sulphate that improves greens performance by managing water availability; and Marathon Allround – a versatile long release fertiliser for use on all outfield areas that provides a reliable growth response with good colour for up to 3 months.

The Sherriff Amenity team will also be joined by Terra Firma (Agrovista’s latest Scottish acquisition) and Irish based Oilean Glas Teo – manufacturers of the SeaVolution range, Rapid Root and Amino Turf, all of which are distributed in the UK by Sherriff.

SeaVolution is a range of liquids and granules manufactured from unique, cold process seaweed extract from fresh, hand-picked Ascophyllum nodosum which is collected from the sheltered bays and unpolluted waters of the Atlantic Ocean. An efficient anti-stress bio-stimulant, Amino Turf contains the maximum concentration of free amino acids and is enhanced with nitrogen for faster and more efficient recovery of grass after abiotic stress.

For those looking to reduce environmental stresses and relieve high-wear areas then Rapid Root may well be the solution. This soil conditioner and root enhancer contains natural humic substances and amino acids and acts directly to stimulate soil microbial activity around roots and promotes improvement in water and nutrient uptake.
