Now, the company is looking forward to restrictions ending, and with the anticipation of higher demand, has ensured Product Specialists will always reach customers with the fleet of eight new vehicles.

Providing on-site support has always been a cornerstone of the Campey experience, from machinery recommendations to installations, and the importance of those visits to the end-users is often highlighted.

Maintaining that contact during the pandemic whenever possible was crucial for grassroots and professional clubs alike as they continued to work. Working tactfully during this time ensured Campey maintained their existing markets while concentrating on a sharp increase of interest in the second-hand market, a sector that Campey, while already established in focused on to meet the constantly changing requirements of customers.

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare

Campey welcomes Irelands Groundcare: Campey Turf Care Systems has welcomed Irelands Groundcare as their new dealer for Lincolnshire and Rutland.

The Lincolnshire based machinery sales and hire group has a strong reputation in agriculture with over 25-years’ experience in the industry, and in late 2020 began to replicate that success in groundcare.

Offering high-quality machinery that solves their customers’ problems has been the cornerstone of the business since Jonathan and Fiona Ireland started the company in 1994, and the addition of Kubota Groundcare prompted them to seek brands of a similar reputation for their fine turf offering.

In Campey Turf Care, Irelands Groundcare Business Manager, Huw Price, found a company that offered leading machinery solutions for recurring issues faced by fine turf customers.

Huw explains: “We were reaching out to other businesses that had done a similar thing to us, and there were a couple of other dealers that were really helpful when it came to understanding the market and how it’s run. We wanted well-made machinery that is going to last. We don’t want to be the cheapest; we want to be the best with the right kit that we can stand behind and be proud to offer our customers.

“When we investigated the market, and what was available, we had previously used an Air2G2 which we had success with. We knew we needed a seeder for our groundcare offering, and we are lucky to have some experts in our company who are very experienced in agricultural seeders, and they told us the options we had, which led to us reaching out to Campey.

“Simon Holland came down with a low loader full of equipment that he recommended as our demo and hire stock, and one of those was a Vredo Compact seeder, and we’ve actually already sold one. So that and the Air2G2 were the things that drew us to Campey initially, and after meeting Simon, we there and then decided we wanted to sell Campey products, and we got five machines.

“We’ve already had people hire the Vredo, and we knew it would go well because it’s the sort of machine you might only need for one week a year and certain golf clubs in this area would find it more financially beneficial to hire it for a week and let us look after it for the rest of the time.

“The root pruner is another great example. It’s somewhat unique and solves a problem, but people might not necessarily want to buy one because it’s not something you would frequently use. But as a hire machine, it’s a great thing to have for three days to solve the leaching of the roots on fairways, and it makes financial sense.”

As part of their expansion into groundcare, Irelands are opening a fourth depot in Tinwell, Rutland, where their new turf team will be operating from May 2021 and will be available to offer advice and recommendations regarding their hire fleet and machinery sales.

Campey appointed Martin Lishman distributor

Campey appointed Martin Lishman distributor: Leading groundcare machinery specialist Campey Turf Care Systems has been appointed as the Martin Lishman Micro-Spray worldwide distributor.

The Macclesfield based company has built a strong reputation in the turf care industry for their innovative product range that covers the entire spectrum of maintenance tasks. Martin Lishman National Sales Manager, Joel Capper, is confident Campey will increase the profile of the Micro-Spray and take it into new markets and is excited to continue working with the company.

“We have been working closely with Campey for a number of years and have been impressed by their global reach to sports clubs and amenity facilities,” Joel begins. “We feel confident in their ability to take the Micro-Spray forward into different markets in new countries and look forward to working with them even closer in this latest chapter in the Micro-Spray success story.”

Campey Chairman, Richard Campey, added: “New approaches and innovation is something we look for in the machinery we work with, and we’ve been impressed with Martin Lishman’s approach to compact sprayers for some time. We are very pleased to be able to reinforce an already successful relationship with this exclusive agreement regarding the Micro-Spray and look forward to the next developments in their range.”

The key aim of the Micro-Spray is bringing versatility to the groundsman’s armoury. A narrow footprint allows it to fit through most gateways and passageways to tackle hard to reach spraying areas.

With a 120-litre tank, the option of a 2.5m six nozzle or 3.5m eight nozzle three-section folding boom and the perfect combination of power, control and responsive handling, the Micro-Spray is suited to all types of sports grounds, golf courses and landscaping work. The comprehensive yet easy to use control box gives the operator more control over the sprayer with changeable motor direction to either walk behind or in front of the sprayer, 12 motor speeds, bout marker selection, a battery level indicator and optional hand lance.

Spray application rates, operating speed, and the pump pressure can be accurately and quickly controlled by the operator, as well as the adjustable boom height and independent shut-off nozzle bodies. All of these features come together to make a versatile sprayer that provides the same exceptional results time and time again regardless of where you’re working.

For more information or a demonstration of the Micro Spray, contact your local dealer or visit www.campeyturfcare.com.

Campey partnership with Birmingham FA

Campey partnership with Birmingham FA: Campey Turf Care Systems are proud to announce a new partnership with Birmingham County Football Association (BCFA) that will see the company service grassroots football teams in the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.

The push towards improving grassroots pitches in England has become a central goal for the Football Association. The overall target is to have five thousand pitches assessed as Good or Better by 2024.

The reform of the grading process along with new funding opportunities prompted BCFA’s Facility and Investment Lead, Oliver Hitchcox, to seek out a machinery partner to ensure clubs were well informed and getting the backup service they need.

“The vast majority of the reports that we get identify a need for new or additional maintenance kit and equipment,” Oliver explains. “We’ve signposted a lot of clubs for funding towards that equipment so often because clubs don’t have a huge amount of expertise in that area, and they tend to come to me or our Grounds Management Association (GMA) Regional Pitch Advisor, Kevin Duffill, asking for the best places to get quotes. We’d already had a fair few clubs who had engaged with Campey and were really enthusiastic about the support they had from them.

“I wanted to get a partner on board so that we had someone we could direct people towards who we knew were going to provide value for money in terms of the kit and offer a really good level of customer service and support for our clubs. So, I contacted John at Campey, and we had a conversation around what we could do.

“They had recently done something similar with Staffordshire FA, so they knew the landscape in terms of what we were looking to do and it’s a really good fit because of the customer service that they offer clubs. Campey has been going out to sites to demo products and taking clubs through that process of what the machinery and equipment can do, how to use it properly and then all the aftercare is really beneficial. So, from our perspective, we know that we can direct clubs to somewhere where they will be well looked after.

“I was speaking to a club last week who we have just supported with some funding, and they said exactly that. The local rep had been out on-site to demo all the kit and take them through that process. When they deliver the equipment, they give a good installation in terms of operation and management and then again, we have the aftercare. They are always on hand with any queries or issues that come up.

“Having someone who works locally who can actually go and visit people is definitely a benefit rather than just having people on the phone or email. That personal contact is really important.”

Every year the FA conducts the grassroots football survey, and a constant theme is the condition of pitches. Good quality surfaces are vital when it comes to attracting new players to the game and retaining them is equally important, and a challenge the Birmingham FA is actively addressing.

As well as funding from The Football Foundation, clubs can also access BCFA’s own grant that help bridge the gap of the remaining 25% cost of machinery from the 75% Football Foundation grant.

Clubs who would like further information on the funding available to them should contact the Birmingham FA or visit www.birminghamfa.com
