Deer Park Golf Club invests in Eco 400 Sprayer

Deer Park Golf Club invests in Eco 400 Sprayer: Deer Park Golf Club in Livingston has upgraded its course maintenance equipment with the addition of a Cleveland Gambetti Eco 400 tractor-mounted sprayer, supplied by Fairways GM at Kinross.

The Eco 400, part of the British-made Eco range, is designed specifically for golf and amenity use and replaces the club’s previous Gambetti sprayer, which had served for 12 years. Head greenkeeper Mark Campbell continued with the 400-litre tank but opted for the extended booms, blotter, and triple nozzle setup.

“We spend on average 20 hours a month spraying, so the extended booms will pay for themselves with the time they help us save,” said Mark Campbell.

The new configuration has virtually tripled the coverage capacity while offering greater control and precision. With 50% less pipework, stainless-steel spray lines, and balanced manual controls, the sprayer delivers accurate application and faster clean-down times.

Mark and his colleague, Martin McKenzie, both hold spraying certificates at Deer Park, ensuring precise and efficient use of the new system.

“Spraying is less stressful now and much faster,” added Mark Campbell. “We can spray confidently, knowing everything works perfectly without clogging. The improvements in consistency were noticeable straight away, and the time saved allows us to focus on other tasks.”

The new sprayer is being used across the entire course, from weekly treatments on greens to summer fairway applications and targeted work on roughs, including growth retardant sprays and pre-competition enhancements.

Hayden Laing, Area Sales Manager at Fairways GM, provided sales and technical support to the West Lothian course during the upgrade process.

ECO 135TT is the solution for Pro Axe

ECO 135TT is the solution for Pro Axe: After four years of hiring woodchippers, with ‘mixed’ experiences, the time was right for Dan Snaith of Pro Axe to invest in a machine to call his own – that being an ECO 135TT from GreenMech.

Opting for the turntable model, the ECO 135TT has brought new-found convenience to day-to-day operations, not just available when he needs it, but rotatable to be exactly where he needs it too!

Dan has used various makes and models of woodchipper during his two decades in the industry, half of those operating under DS Grounds Maintenance – recently rebranded and relaunched as Pro Axe. “We undertake all manner of domestic and commercial tree-works for customers across South West Wales, which had put a lot of pressure on an aging GreenMech we previously had at our disposal” explains Dan. “We’ve therefore been relying on hire centres for the last few years which was unreliable and inconvenient to say the least!”

“I got in touch with Martin Lucas at GreenMech who responded quickly and arranged a demonstration of the ECO 135TT for the following week with our local dealer Powercut. The whole process was seamless and as soon as I saw the machine, I was sold!”

Defined as entry-level but delivering an impressive 5” chipping capacity, GreenMech’s ECO 135 range is ideal for a wide range of arb and landscape applications. The road-tow ECO 135TT model features a 24hp Loncin engine and full 360o turntable for powerful performance and unbeatable manoeuvrability.

“For me, this was one of the main selling points – it’s lightweight, easy to transport and when we arrive on site we can simply turn the ECO 135TT to face in any given direction, improving efficiency and safety for the operator especially when working at the roadside. Being petrol powered has also resulted in a reduction in our fuel spend, giving us chipping power that I’d say is on par with a larger 6” machine in a unit that’s close to half the size.”

“I was also impressed with the fast delivery, we waited only a few weeks before Powercut installed the machine with us in early October.” Since its delivery, the ECO 135TT has proven a versatile addition to the team. “It’s been out every week, and has tackled everything we’ve put through it – including hedge brash which the GreenMech seems to mulch through no problem. Overall, I couldn’t be happier.”

GreenMech’s entry-level ECO 135 range

GreenMech’s entry-level ECO 135 range: The Arb Show 2023 gave GreenMech the perfect platform to launch their brand new, ‘entry-level’ woodchipper range, the ECO 135. Delivering an impressive 5” capacity, the ECO 135 is ideal for a wide variety of applications and operators, including those more price-conscious in the arborist, landscaper and rental markets.

Initially available in two basic models, the ECO 135 road tow and the ECO 135TT as a full 360o turntable road tow, the new range has been designed to be cost-effective to build and easier to run and maintain, without any compromise in strength and performance. The range retains many of GreenMech’s industry-proven innovations such as horizontal rollers, no-stress feed system and twin disc-blade chipping technology, combined with a new flywheel design which provides impressive throughput for a machine of its size.

Power is delivered by a powerful, yet economical, 24hp Loncin petrol engine and both models can be up-specced to suit applications and budgets. Options include a variable height discharge chute, spare wheel, stowage box and the GreenMech HushChip pack, which provides additional component protection and reduces noise output. LED lighting can also be specified to replace the filament kit fitted as standard.

“Even in the basic specification, the ECO 135 range offers brilliant performance combined with excellent value for money” comments Sales Director Martin Lucas. “Both models weigh less than 750kg’s and include many of the popular features which have now become synonymous with delivering outstanding reliability and safety. The fact that we can also deliver a turntable model is a real bonus, particularly for those customers who require maximum flexibility in positioning the machine for safe operation.”

Series production will start in June, with all models benefiting from a 3-year no quibble GreenMech warranty and the back up service and support from their nationwide dealer network.

Eco Village demos revealed

Eco Village demos revealed: A stunning line-up of demonstrations featuring cutting-edge sustainable technology and environmentally friendly solutions has been finalised for this year’s SALTEX ECO Village display.

Sponsored by SGL, manufacturer of LED lighting and monitoring systems, the demonstrations will feature the best in green technology for grounds care.

Six manufacturers will be putting products through their paces in daily demonstrations.

Starting each morning off from 10.00 to 10.15 will be Avant Techno with its Leguan Lifts. Leguan spider lifts are known for their exceptional off-road capabilities, and industry-leading gradeability.

At 11.00 to 11.15, sponsors, SGL will be demonstrating their new product – the LED50 that is equipped with SmartBox and the latest LED technology. Due to its compactness the LED50 is perfect to use on high wear areas such as goal mouths and corner areas and according to SGL perfect for clubs that want the agronomical benefits while also striving for sustainability.

Next on display from 11.30 to 11.45 will be the Campey AllTrec 100% Electric Mower. With no CO2-emission the machine also distinguishes itself through the minimal sound it produces.

This will be followed at 12.00 to 12.15 by another mower – this time the Overton Rival Zero Turn – the latest mower in Mean Green Mowers’ new ‘evolution’ series.

A robot mower will be the next to show its paces at 12.30 to 12.45 – this time the Kress RTK Robot Mower. With no requirement for boundary wires or on-site antennas this robot mower can tackle larger areas than previously associated with the robotic solution.

An electric solution for loading is the last demonstration of the day at 13.00 to 13.15 when Avant Techno will put their Electric E6 Loader under the scrutiny of visitors.

Avant was the first manufacturer to introduce a full-electric, battery-powered compact loader series to the market. Although the e series is electric, according to Avant, it offers the same power and properties as the Avant 500 series which is equipped with a diesel engine.

In addition to the daily demonstrations industry experts will be on hand to offer advice on green technology and how it could benefit current working practices.
